Back To The 80s-Chapter 175: Dumb (laughs 66 and Shi Bi reward extra)_1
Chi Xiaoyue listened, her heart jolted, and feigned ignorance, saying, "What reputation of yours is ruined?"
Gu Xiaobei’s eyes twinkled with mischief, "That’s not the point, the point is that he guaranteed he won’t spread lies again in the future." Gu Xiaobei regretted a bit that he hadn’t brought that note with him.
Chi Xiaoyue’s face stiffened for a moment: "Sister-in-law, what do you make of him? A grown man making up such nonsense."
"Exactly, look at me, I know other people’s great secrets, but I never reveal them." Gu Xiaobei laughed while looking at Xiaoyue’s gullibility.
Chi Xiaoyue suddenly remembered the words Gu Xiaobei said that day at the water room and her face slightly changed: "You’re right, sister-in-law."
Gu Xiaobei imagined that Chi Xiaoyue was probably feeling worse than being grilled over a fire right now. The smile on his face turned sweeter: "Moreover, Wang Chuanjiang gave me a written statement, in which the person who instructed him to spread the rumors is named. I’ll show it to you later."
Chi Xiaoyue stopped wanting to talk. She didn’t understand what was going on in Gu Xiaobei’s mind and couldn’t predict what she would say next.
Gu Xiaobei, not expecting Chi Xiaoyue to respond, continued on his own: "Actually, let’s just drop this irritating topic. You can go if you’re busy."
Chi Xiaoyue had been wanting to leave. Hearing this, she turned around to leave, but was surprised to hear Gu Xiaobei muttering to himself: "This woman had a miscarriage, how should she recuperate?" In surprise, she quickly left without looking back.
Gu Xiaobei looked at the rushed departing figure of Chi Xiaoyue with satisfaction. A grin on his face revealing his white teeth, but a thought flashed through his mind. Teasing Chi Xiaoyue like this was enjoyable, but it would be even better to uncover some secrets between her and Xiangmin.
Cheerfully, he ran to the logistics department and saw a big carp weighing about five or six catties handed to him by Chang Yuan. Stunned by the anticipation of a wonderful stew later.
"Sister-in-law, this might be the last batch of live fish. The weather is getting colder and the fish have dived into deeper water, making them hard to catch. Therefore, I decided on my own and brought a big fish back for you." Chang Yuan explained.
"Great, thank you so much." Gu Xiaobei took the fish, handed over the money, and hurried home. Chen Gang and Jiujiu should be home from school by now.

Chi Xiaoyue had another proverbial ’silent loss’ at the hands of Gu Xiaobei. As she walked, she kept pondering the meaning of his words. Arriving in town, she headed straight to the Xinhua Bookstore to find Wang Chuanjiang.
Wang Chuanjiang was just finishing an argument with Liu Ying because he didn’t arrange for her to do anything when they came to town.
The two of them rented a flat in the town. Without a job, Liu Ying wandered around aimlessly. Over a few days, nobody cared to interact with her.
Liu Ying grew bored from staying at home all day, so she hung around the bookstore. The bookstore originally had a middle-aged lady who handled cash and a young man, in addition to the newly arrived Wang Chuanjiang. But rarely did anyone visit the bookstore.
Sometimes a young woman would come to buy a book and consult Wang Chuanjiang. Liu Ying would snort, staring from the sidelines, occasionally throwing a cold remark.
Unable to hold back, the two had a physical altercation in the bookstore. Chi Xiaoyue walked in to see scratches all over Wang Chuanjiang’s face and his glasses lying shattered on the ground.
Liu Ying sat on the floor, weeping and sobbing. The other two bookstore employees were nowhere in sight.
"What happened?" Chi Xiaoyue asked Wang Chuanjiang.
"I can’t live this life any longer. When someone comes to the bookstore to buy a book and asks a few questions, she starts calling them a slut." Wang Chuanjiang said angrily.
Hearing this, Liu Ying jumped up from the floor and pointed at him, "Why don’t you say you were flirting with those girls. Did you have to smile like that just for selling a book?"
"Should I have put on a mournful face instead? Isn’t that what people do when they conduct business? We’ve only been in town for a few days, and you’ve already offended all the neighbors." Wang Chuanjiang glared at Liu Ying, his face full of resentment.
"I offended them? Why don’t you say you’ve been flirting with the young ladies? Have you got no shame?" Liu Ying pointed at Wang Chuanjiang’s nose and retorted.
"Enough, don’t you two feel embarrassed?" Chi Xiaoyue chided. These two were both troublemakers, a perfect match for each other.
Wang Chuanjiang and Liu Ying instantly quieted down at Chi Xiaoyue’s reprimand and stood aside.
"Just the two of you here?" Chi Xiaoyue glanced around and asked.
"The other two went out to run errands. Otherwise, the situation wouldn’t be like this." Wang Chuanjiang picked up his shattered glasses from the floor, tried to fix them a bit, and put them back on his nose.
Chi Xiaoyue saw Wang Chuanjiang’s pathetic appearance, frowned in disappointment, and thought to herself, ’No wonder Gu Xiaobei was able to take advantage of him, what a wimp!’
"Xiaoyue sister, what can I do for you?" Wang Chuanjiang adjusted his hair before asking Chi Xiaoyue. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Did you see Gu Xiaobei recently?"
"Yes, didn’t you tell me to say it in front of her?"
Chi Xiaoyue was nearly speechless with anger: "And what happened?"
Wang Chuanjiang fell silent for a moment. He didn’t have the face to admit that he had been tricked by Gu Xiaobei, and the more he thought about it afterward, the more something seemed wrong.
"Don’t you have any sense? Have you ever actually accomplished anything?" Chi Xiaoyue admonished in a stern voice.
Wang Chuanjiang felt somewhat wronged, but he didn’t dare to protest and could only stand there dumbfounded.
Liu Ying was not pleased. Although she had just quarreled with Wang Chuanjiang, he was her man. Only she had the right to berate him. So she jumped in: "That Gu Xiaobei has a sharp tongue, and she has backings. What could Wang Chuanjiang do?"
Although she was unaware of the real reason behind the dispute between Wang Chuanjiang and Gu Xiaobei, she remembered Gu Xiaobei’s domineering attitude that day, as though she would not let the matter rest until she had Wang Chuanjiang locked up for a few days.
Chi Xiaoyue shot Liu Ying a glare: "Enough, you two better stay low-profile for a while, and stop messing with Gu Xiaobei." After she gave Wang Chuanjiang a fierce stare, she turned around and left in a huff.

Gu Xiaobei sliced some flesh from the belly of the carp and cooked Suan Cai Yu for Chen Gang and Jiujiu at noon. The rest of the fish was slightly fried and slow-cooked into a milky-white soup, ready to be served to Lu Zhanguo when he came back at night.
Lu Zhanguo came back quite early that day, accompanied by Shen Heng.
Upon stepping upstairs, Shen Heng smelled the delicious aroma of fish soup. Seeing Gu Xiaobei making bread near the hallway stove, he said with a smile, "We are in for a treat today. What’s this you’re making sister-in-law, it smells wonderful?"
"It’s fish soup. Please sit inside. Once Jiujiju returns, we can eat." Gu Xiaobei looked up and smiled. She was in a good mood. Just as she was wondering whether Lu Zhanguo would come back early, he appeared before her eyes.
Upon seeing Gu Xiaobei tending to the cooking, Shen Heng offered, "Sister-in-law, let me help you with rolling out the dough."
"There’s no need, I can handle it myself. You guys should go inside and sit." Gu Xiaobei refused, waving her spatula.
Every time Lu Zhanguo saw Gu Xiaobei, his eyes softened, he looked at Gu Xiaobei affectionately, patted Shen Heng’s shoulder, "Alright, let’s go inside."
