Chapter 134: Chapter 134: Sending the Child to Daycare

When talking about what he saw and heard in Nanyu, Lin Qingxiang couldn’t help but sigh with emotion.

You know, last year Lin Yi’s place was a complete mess, and this year they’ve turned it around, having everything they need, and now they’re even going to build a garage.

In contrast, in the village, hardly anyone is building a house, and even fewer have money to do so.

Lin Yi’s nephew, Lin Jianqiang, got married but is still renting a house to live in. I heard he’s been borrowing money everywhere lately to build a house, not sure if he can make it.

Huang Yuzhen beamed with joy, "You’re lucky. If you hadn’t helped when he needed it most, our son wouldn’t have gotten such a great opportunity now."

Lin Qingxiang deeply resonated with this, looked at Lin Shaojun, and said seriously, "That’s why you need to be honest and true to your conscience. You’ve got a great chance, work hard for Wenjun, don’t let him down for giving you a good salary."

Huang Yuzhen nodded in agreement, "I heard that even the masters in the factory only earn sixty or seventy a month, while ordinary workers get thirty-four. You’re making more than the old masters there."

Lin Shaojun, having been brainwashed by his parents, made a series of promises.

The whole family happily had their meal.

The next morning, the father and son went to Anshui Village to prepare to start work.

The materials hadn’t arrived yet, so the foundation had to be dug first.

Chen Wenjun and Lin Yi were both busy and couldn’t help out.

The father and son did it themselves, taking most of the day to dig the foundation of over a hundred square meters.

The next day, cement, sand, and stone were all delivered.

The two hurriedly poured the cement, spent a day getting the foundation ready, and in three days, they could invite the master builder Zhang Yongquan to start building the house.

A few people worked hard for about ten days, and a garage covering one hundred and fifty square meters was completed.

Brick walls, a tiled roof, glass windows, and iron fences on the walls, using an iron gate for the main entrance, and the necessary electric lights were installed.

The overall effect was pretty good.

Moreover, since one end is close to the river and the other to the road, it’s very convenient for setting up a stall or making tea.

Lin Yi instantly liked it, quickly moved all the cars from his home, and even put a small table and a few long benches in the garage.

With the garage issue settled, Lin Shaojun immediately went to work at the seafood wholesale store. With his joining, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, the results of the college entrance examination came out, and as expected, Lin Qin failed.

Fortunately, the whole family was already mentally prepared, so they weren’t too disappointed.

It was the teacher at the elderly university who felt a pity, thinking that Lin Qin had the willpower and ability to pass, but was held back by the child.

At the start of the semester, he privately approached Lin Qin to talk.

"If your family situation allows, I think you can put the child in daycare. The daycare time matches ours. You can drop off the child when you come for classes and pick them up after, which will allow you to focus on your studies."

Previously, the child was young, just eating and sleeping, and the manager could take care of them without any issues. But as the child grew, they stayed awake longer, and although they played by themselves without fussing, a little baby couldn’t just sit and play with toys all the time. Occasionally, they’d need someone to carry them around and interact with them.

Obviously, the manager couldn’t do that.

Lin Qin thought carefully and agreed that the teacher made sense. Most importantly, she wanted to devote herself fully for a year without leaving any regrets.

Thinking of this, Lin Qin hurriedly asked, "Teacher Su, is there a daycare near our school?"

Teacher Su looked at her with a favorable expression and nodded with a smile, "Since I mentioned it first, even if there wasn’t one, there has to be. You’ll need to ask Manager Sister Fang for details."

After thanking Teacher Su, Lin Qin went to find Manager Sister Fang.

She happened to see Sister Fang playing with her son, and Lin Qin quickly took over, offering an apologetic look, "I’m sorry for troubling you, Sister!"

Sister Fang waved her hand dismissively, "It’s nothing! Your son is well-behaved and doesn’t cause trouble."

Lin Qin smiled and got straight to the point, "Teacher Su suggested I send my child to daycare and told me to ask you."

Sister Fang’s eyes lit up, leaning in closer, "Honestly, our elderly college plans to set up a daycare right next door. This idea was led by the textile mill. They said many female workers complained that nobody was watching their children at home. Some even brought their kids to the factory, causing occasional trouble.

The factory director was quite troubled by this and approached us. It just so happens we have plenty of space here, lots of empty classrooms, and most importantly, it’s safe. They took a liking to it at first glance."

The elderly university indeed has a proper school setup, with a campus that leads to a playground upon entering the main gate. Next to the playground are exercise areas like horizontal bars, and the other side has the teaching buildings arranged in a ’D’ shape. On the opposite side of these buildings is another row of three-story classrooms, all vacant and unused. Establishing a daycare there wouldn’t interfere with their classes and would bring in additional income for the school.

"Really? That’s great! Where do they plan to hire the teachers from? How many do they need? Are they reliable?" Lin Qin’s barrage of questions amused Sister Fang.

"Oh, Lin Qin, you’re really something! I just started, and you’ve considered everything! To be frank, the textile factory is well-off. Their workers’ children are precious to them, so they’re afraid of any mishaps. They plan to hire preschool teachers from An City Normal College to teach here.

The number of children will determine the need — their idea is to have one class for older kids and one for younger ones. Children like yours would be in the younger group, which includes an extra caregiver for diaper changes and feeding.

It’s roughly three teachers for ten kids, and if the number exceeds fifteen, they’ll arrange four teachers. That’s about one teacher for every four to six kids. Factoring in venue rental and the teachers’ salaries, it’s roughly twenty dollars a month.

However, this is the fee for external kids. Children of textile factory workers wouldn’t need to pay as much — around twelve or thirteen dollars per child, with some subsidies from the factory."

After finishing, worried that Lin Qin would find it expensive, Sister Fang quickly added, "I can discuss with the factory director to see if we can get you a discount."

Lin Qin quickly expressed her gratitude, "Thank you, Sister Fang, for considering these things for me. The money isn’t the main concern. The teachers’ responsibility and patience with the kids, without any abuse, are what matter."

Sister Fang agreed, "Rest assured, the daycare is nearby, basically within my domain. I’ll pop in whenever I’m free to remind the teachers. There definitely won’t be any issues."

Relieved, Lin Qin immediately signed up with Sister Fang.

After school, she told Lin Yi and Chen Wenjun about the situation.

Upon hearing that they were graduates from An City Normal College, Chen Wenjun wasn’t too worried. He just said, "Having someone care for the child in daycare allows them to learn more and lets you focus on your studies, which is great. As for the quality of the hired teachers, it’s beyond our control, but make sure to maintain a good relationship with Sister Fang and ask her to keep an eye out."
