Chapter 524: Reason for Refusal

A man’s mecha is their wife.

It was a famous saying that who knows how many people had said. Just like how these men loved their cars so much, those who had mecha also cared for their mecha so much. The attention could even made every women in the world jealous.

Because these men would never be able to give the same treatment to others.

And the most important thing is that they would never let outsiders to get close to their mecha in the slightest bit aside from the mechanics. After all, even if they were great at controlling mecha, not everyone was an expert at repairing.

They had to hand the mecha over to those who were also experts in repairing mecha and made sure their ’beloved’ could operate well.

But aside from them, they would never let others get too close.

Not even their friends.

The one who could get the closest would only be their other half, their wife or husband if the mecha belonged to a woman.

There were also women mecha’s operator even if the number was not much. Due to the limitation of physical strength, not many women could reach the standard, thus reducing the chance for them to become a mecha operator or even soldiers.

At this time, Nan Hua stood still.

She was looking at the large and majestic mecha in front of her. The mecha was black and dark blue in color. The metallic luster showed off the brilliance as Long Qian Xing lit up the lamps in the hangar. The mecha itself was shaped like human but the metallic joints were visible, giving a sense of beauty and power.

Even though Nan Hua didn’t really understand much about aesthetic, but she knew that this mecha looked very good.

"This is Xing’er," Long Qian Xing introduced the mecha to Nan Hua. "I named her after myself because I wish she can stay with me and continue to protect me as I roam on the sea of stars in the future."

"She’s a good mecha," Nan Hua replied.

Long Qian Xing smiled with a chuckle. "Come on, I’ll show you the inside."

Nan Hua didn’t move.

Long Qian Xing stopped after two steps and turned back to look at Nan Hua. He showed a bitter smile. "You’re not going to accept it."

"Your future wife wouldn’t be happy if she knows that you showed your mecha to another woman," Nan Hua replied.

Even if the rules regarding mecha was not really discussed widely, but it was already a tacit understanding for many of them. Those who could enter should only be the mecha’s owner wife.

Unless there were emergency where they had to carry their injured comrades on the battlefield or something like that, no one would break this rule.

"You’re my future wife," Long Qian Xing replied calmly. His eyes were staring straight at Nan Hua. But even though his posture looked calm, his slightly trembling fingers were showing his real feelings, at how nervous he was right now.

"No, I’m not." Nan Hua shook her head. "I can’t be with you, Senior Long. Not now, not ever."

"Why?"

Why?

’Because I’m a person who might not even be able to survive tomorrow if the organization decided that it’s time for me to die.’

Nan Hua didn’t say it out loud, but her mind was saying it very clearly. She had known very well ever since she was young that she was a person with no future. And the organization made sure that she understand it extremely well.

To the point that her every cell remembered it.

She was nothing more than a tool and the so called hope for the future outside the organization was nothing more than a pipe dream.

No matter how much they struggled, how much they fought, how much they longed for it, none of it could be realized.

What they had been given has always been utter despair.

Forced again and again to their own ends.

How many members of the organization eventually ended their own life? Part of them had long already given up on their own life, the life where they were forced to do things they didn’t want but still struggle to do it for the sake of their life.

And in the end, it was all for naught.

How many of them questioned their sense of existence? Crying through the night inside their mind but had to force themselves to stay calm and had to put on the same poker face as they went through their days.

Day by day.

Week by week.

Months by month.

Year by years.

And even decades by decades.

Those who could survive for so long either had long accepted their fate or just wanted to fulfill their own twisted dream from within the organization.

But no matter what they did, they could never get away from it.

Nan Hua was no exception.

She knew her time was running out. Her usefulness for the organization, their plan, and everything... she didn’t have much time.

And Long Qian Xing is the target of the organization.

Nan Hua knew it very well.

His name was hanging at the very top of the list among the younger generation whom the organization wished to die.

If she got close to him, instead of happiness, she would only bring him pain.

Because she was not allowed to have feelings.

With him being the target of organization, how could it be possible for the organization to miss the chance of killing him? As long as he put down his guard around her, wouldn’t she be the perfect tool for them to kill him?

Nan Hua doesn’t want it.

She had killed so many people in her journey up to now and she didn’t really want to increase the count.

Even if she used not to care about the people she killed, but this time, she didn’t want to.

She didn’t want to be forced to kill him.
