Assassin at Range: The Sniper's Lethal Power-Chapter 88 - : The Girl Who Assembles Rockets by Hand
The return trip was smooth.
The only problem was the distance.
Even though Tristan was in Stealth mode, which gave him a speed boost, the journey still took over an hour to cover the long distance back to Davi City. Unlike the trip to the gathering earlier, this time, Tristan had no need to worry about being interrupted by the event. He was free to casually take down any wild monsters he came across. However, his leveling efficiency couldn’t compare to what he had experienced in the valley. Taking down over three thousand goblins in one go was something that would only happen under very rare circumstances. For that, he had to thank Bonecrusher. If it hadn’t been for it forcing the goblins to fight to the last, he wouldn’t have gotten such an enormous amount of experience.
So, with a slow but steady pace, Tristan finally caught sight of Davi City’s outline in the distance. At this point, there were far fewer wild monsters to deal with, so he kept moving forward without hesitation.
But before he could take more than a few steps, a panicked voice shouted out from behind him: "Watch out! Get out of the way!"
Turning around, Tristan saw a rocket missile, trailing smoke as it flew erratically through the air, heading straight for his position.
What the hell?!
Instinctively, Tristan threw out his Shadow Dagger and hit the fast-moving rocket dead on.
Boom!
A flash of light erupted in the air.
Tristan immediately became alert, scanning the surroundings. He knew that the overall style of Davi City resembled medieval Europe, and that no one had really studied firearms here. Even if someone had, it would still be at the cannon stage—rockets were not something people had developed yet.
So, the big question was: where did this rocket come from?
Connecting the dots, Tristan realized the shout he had heard earlier must have been from a player.
It had only been about ten hours since the server opened, and while normal players might still be grinding rabbits, the top-tier players with hidden classes had already reached level ten and were starting to show up in Davi City. With his shop’s reputation, there were probably more of them than in a typical situation.
"Must be an Engineer class who can craft rockets," Tristan mused.
As he thought this, a figure appeared in the distance.
It was a slender figure.
It was a female player.
"Sorry! I hope I didn’t hit you!" she called out with an apologetic tone, bowing slightly.
Tristan figured she wasn’t intentionally attacking him.
He checked her name tag: GemmaS.
The name seemed familiar, but he couldn’t quite place it right away.
He focused and replied, "I’m fine."
Just as he was about to leave, the girl stopped him.
She eyed Tristan from head to toe, tilting her head with a look of surprise on her face before hesitantly asking, "Blackshade? Is that you?"
Tristan tensed up. He hadn’t revealed his character’s name, so how did she recognize him?
Could she be someone who had been stalking him?
Ready to activate Stealth mode at a moment’s notice, Tristan replied calmly, "Yes, I’m Blackshade."
As soon as the words left his mouth, she screamed, "I finally met you!"
GemmaS’ eyes were sparkling, looking like a starstruck fan.
Tristan, still cautious, asked, "Do you know me?"
As soon as he asked, he realized how redundant the question was. With all the first-kill announcements, even players just starting out would have heard of his name by now. Besides, she had reached level ten at this point, so it was impossible she didn’t know who he was.
GemmaS quickly responded, "Your fame is so huge, of course, I know who you are."
Then, looking a bit embarrassed, she shuffled her feet and asked with anticipation, "Could we be friends?"
Tristan thought for a moment and replied, "Sure."
Now, he remembered who she was.
In his previous life, she had been ranked 27th globally, and as the number one Engineer, she was famous for her single-handed mechanical ascent—GemmaS!
If it was her, then the rocket launcher certainly made sense.
However, at this point, GemmaS was still a beginner and nowhere near the level of her previous life.
After adding each other as friends, Tristan asked, "That rocket you just fired, was it your class skill?"
GemmaS confirmed, "You’re spot on."
Then, her expression darkened a little as she complained, "I’ve tried everything, but I just can’t seem to stabilize the trajectory of the rocket. Do you have any advice?"
Tristan was speechless.
Was she really asking an Assassin for advice on an Engineer skill? It wasn’t even close to his area of expertise.
But surprisingly, he did know.
Tristan casually said, "Just add some enchanted raven feathers to your crafting materials. Those feathers have a stabilizing effect on flight paths."
GemmaS looked puzzled and asked, "Can raven feathers really withstand the heat from the rocket’s tail flame?"
Tristan laughed.
In the real world, that would be impossible.
But this was ExoGenesis—a world filled with all sorts of mysterious powers. Not only could the feathers survive, but the top-tier monsters in the game could even withstand nuclear explosions!
Tristan replied, "Well, you won’t know until you try."
Enchanted ravens were fairly common monsters and could be found in various regions of ExoGenesis. Tristan glanced around and spotted a few of them perched on branches nearby.
"Perfect," he thought.
He threw a Shadow Dagger, sending them skyward, then plucked one of their tail feathers and handed it to GemmaS. "Try this."
GemmaS eagerly took the feather, dug into her bag for materials, and after some crafting, a rocket missile about half a meter long materialized in her hands.
Tristan was awestruck.
She crafted the rocket by hand!
Incredible!
Moments later, GemmaS didn’t stop there. She quickly crafted a launcher to go with the rocket.
Tristan was taken aback.
Wait… an RPG?!
Whoosh!
The rocket flew with a trail of fire.

Boom!
The explosion lit up the sky, and a nearby rabbit, calmly grazing on the grass, was blown into the air, only to land as a roasted bunny.
It was both ridiculously entertaining... and cruel!
GemmaS tossed aside the launcher, then jumped up, hanging onto Tristan in sheer excitement. "It worked! It really worked!"
Tristan raised his arms helplessly. "Could you please get down?"
At this stage of ExoGenesis, players were still under protection. If someone mistook GemmaS’ actions for something suspicious, they’d be in big trouble.
Realizing her slip-up, GemmaS hastily got down, her face flushed with embarrassment.
After a moment, she composed herself and said, "I can’t thank you enough. Without your suggestion, I would have no idea how long it would take to figure this out."
Tristan waved it off. "It’s nothing. I just saw an NPC do something similar. Don’t worry about it."
But GemmaS wasn’t having it.
"You’re too humble, Blackshade."
After chatting for a bit, GemmaS suddenly squealed, "Oh no! I still need to do my class advancement quest!"
Without another word, she dashed off, leaving behind only a lingering sentence in the air:
"I’ll come find you once I’m done!"
Tristan couldn’t help but be confused.
How did someone with such a fiery personality manage to become an Engineer? Wasn’t this class supposed to require great attention to detail?
