Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy-Chapter 977: Familiar Face
Chapter 977: Familiar Face
The Innkeeper then took a sip of his own tea, unbothered by the situation outside the city wall...
"Of course, if you’re the heroic sort or merely curious, the eastern watchtower has the best view." He suggested after seeing that Vale didn’t look satisfied with his explanation.
Vale then looked out the window. From his current position, he could see faint black threads writhing at the horizon with his Spirit Vision. There was no doubt about it, it was corrupted Divinity.
A part of him wanted to stay, return to his studies, and finish crafting the spell that had begun to take shape in his mind.
But another part—the part that had fought against the Demon Saints, and some of the Seven Deadly Sins—wanted to see what kind of Demons dared to attack a city like this.
After all, unlike the human realm from which he had come, this realm was filled with Immortals...
Then, Vale shook his head and turned to the Innkeeper.
"Thank you," Vale said as he decided to follow the man’s advice to use the eastern watchtower.
The innkeeper merely nodded. "Watch your step, Immortal."
With that, Vale stepped out of the Still Flame Inn and vanished into a burst of shadow mist...

Vale then reappeared atop the eastern watchtower as the Innkeeper had suggested...
Surprisingly, there was no one in his tower, so he decided to go ahead and land here.
’I guess they’re all uninterested in this battle... I wonder how frequently is this skirmish happening...’ Vale mused.
The watchtower, made from seemingly normal wood, was reinforced with a formation array.
It was located at the edge of Hymn City’s protective barrier. It was indeed a perfect place to observe the battle as it overlooked the vast plains beyond. ƒreewebɳovel.com
As soon as he appeared there, he also sensed a couple of Divine Sense and other Inspection Abilities, confirming his identity as a Shadow Immortal.
Then, after realizing that he was indeed one, they all quickly retreated... Vale didn’t mind this at all...
From this elevated vantage, Vale’s Spirit Vision could cut through the layers of illusion and distance it was nothing...
Soon, the corrupted haze on the horizon, which had once appeared as little more than writhing threads, was now cleared to his eyes...
It was a sea of Demonic Creatures below...
"Wow..." Vale muttered as he couldn’t help but recall the Demon Invasions before.
These creatures resemble beasts and humanoid fiends alike, but they all had some sort of corrupted evolution.
They had blackened scales, fangs that were as long as swords, and bone-plated bodies.
Some creatures walked upright with some intelligence in their eyes, while others crawled, slithered, or galloped. Nonetheless, all of them were filled with both Demonic Energy and a rarer, more terrifying power.
Corrupted Divinity.
Vale’s eyes narrowed as he confirmed this.
The Demonic Creatures that invaded the Human Realm had a similar appearance to these Demonic Creatures. However, the ones invading here had a hint of Corrupted Divinity within their bodies.
It was a small amount but Vale could never mistake this at all.
As a matter of fact, he still had thousands of Corrupted Divinity in this Extraction Reserves. He could always use this reserve to use Spells or strengthen them.
"So they’re also here." Vale muttered as he looked far ahead.
Apparently, the Demonic Creatures were indeed being supervised...
To be exact, someone was watching over them...
They were five Demon Saints, floating above the battlefield.
Their forms were cloaked in layered robes and they also had special horns that crowned their heads.
"Are they from the same Demon King? Or maybe there are also several Demon Kings in the Abyss Realm?" Vale mused.
After all, he didn’t study the Abyss Realm that much after it was sealed.
Still, Vale observed the five and their power was immense. He could tell that they were a lot more powerful than the ones he encountered before.
However, despite that, they weren’t actually planning to move... They seemed to be wary of something as well...
’I guess this City wouldn’t last long if they didn’t have a powerful force.’
Vale then calmly watched as he saw that the soldiers of the city were also gathering right now.
From the outermost layer of Hymn City’s wall, a majestic Divine Formation Array was suddenly activated, covering the whole city.
As soon as it appeared, Vale felt how powerful it was...
"Whoa~ This is a lot stronger than the Formation Array we installed in Shadow Domain." Vale chuckled as he realized that he indeed still had a lot to learn.
"It’s called The Skyward Aegis Array... It’s arranged by the Luminis Hold."
Suddenly, a female Immortal appeared beside Vale. It seemed that she also wanted to watch the battle from this tower.
Vale wasn’t surprised at her arrival as he also felt her Divinity coming closer a few moments ago.
Since there was no ill intent from her, Vale remained composed as he turned to face the Immortal woman who had appeared beside him.
Vale was surprised at her appearance. She actually looked quite familiar.
’Hmm... Wait...’
She had similarities to Lesley! Lesley Hoffman within the Human Realm!
"Good evening," The woman said before he could think through...
"It’s rare to see another Immortal watching from this tower. Most have grown used to these border skirmishes."
Vale calmed his mind and nodded politely. "I suppose I’m still a little new to the cycle. You mentioned that this barrier is called Aegis Array?"
She chuckled softly as she turned toward the dome that protected the city.
"You’re right... That barrier you’re admiring—it’s called the Skyward Aegis Array. A master-tier Divine Formation co-created by the founders of the Luminis Hold and the High Priests of Hymn City."
Vale gently... "It’s extremely refined. I’m not too knowledgeable about Formation Arts but I can tell that it had three layers... One for protection, one for reflection, and one... hmm... suppression?"
"Correct... It even suppresses high-tier Corrupted Divinity. At least temporarily."
"Impressive..." Vale muttered.
’My Shadow Domain doesn’t have anything close to this.’
