Apocalyptic Rebirth: With a repairman system space, she rises again.-Chapter 645: From soup into fire.
The kids jumped up excitedly like puppies that had been waiting all day to play. The Lambs were the children played helpless victims and the wolves were the ones who carried out surprise attacks.
The lambs, five of them stepped out of the building first. They carried some snacks in their hands, walking slowly and acting afraid. When they saw the adults, they tried to run, heading for different directions.
The traders, greedy and cruel, saw only easy prey. They laughed, their boots crunching over the cracked rubble. "More stock." One screamed.
Then the wolves came. The first one, leaping out of a building, his whole body glowing with fire. Even his eyes were a brilliant orange.
Another boy burst out of the building, fists crackling with power. He raised his hand and the air itself bent, crushing a trader’s weapon into scrap.
"It’s the lambs and wolves." A man screamed. These children had made a name for themselves.
One girl lifted her hands and lightning crackled between her fingers. Another boy grabbed a rusted car door and hurled it like a giant metal frisbee. The traders barely had time to turn around.
Lightning struck one of them and threw him across the road. Another trader was knocked flat by the flying car door. Gunfire erupted but the kids moved fast, far too fast. One boy vanished and appeared behind a trader, kicking his legs out from under him before slitting his throat open.
Estella calmly walked forward and flicked her wrist. A powerful invisible force slammed two traders against a truck.
The slavers screamed, but mercy was not a part of the children’s vocabulary. They had seen too many bad things and had been stripped of all innocence. Now, their vengeance was absolute.
One child, small and quiet, stomped the ground and the ground split, swallowing two men whole.
The last trader dropped his gun and raised his hands. "Wait_ " A bullet hit him before he finished speaking. He collapsed instantly.
When the dust settled, the traders who were on the surface of the earth lay scattered, lifeless among the rubble. The children stood tall, their breaths heavy but triumphant.
"Strip them of their supplies and cut their heads off." Emmet ordered.
The rest got to work.
Ceaser slowly lowered his hands from his head. He blinked in disbelief and looked around at the bodies scattered everywhere_ now being chopped.
In front of him stood a group of teenagers holding weapons and smiling like they had just finished a fun game. Ceaser whispered quietly to himself, "Bloody hell."
Emmet walked forward casually, wiping blood from his knife with a piece of cloth. "Hi," he said cheerfully.
Ceaser stared at him in shock. The boy could not be older than fifteen.
"Hi," Emmet repeated politely. "The name is Emmet." He pointed toward Dustin. "I picked interest when I heard the name Moon Raine. I need only him." Then he turned the knife slowly toward Ceaser and Linda. "Tell me why I need the two of you, if not your heads will be rolling on the ground like theirs."
Ceaser swallowed hard.
Linda stared at the knife, shaking violently. She opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out. The children were worse than the slave traders. They were monsters!
"I... I am Ceaser Rommel, you may be too young to know me but...." he said quickly. "I am the former secretary of defense and acting president." He was impressed by the demonstration of decisiveness and cruelty. He could see potential in the children, turning them into his personal army.
Emmet nodded slowly. "What about President Finch or have you not heard about Eden."
Ceaser wrinkled his nose. "Under the law, in such moments of crisis. The law gives me all the power. My name opens doors," he continued nervously. "I still have people that are loyal to_"
Emmet waved his hand dismissively. "Got it." Then he pointed the knife at Linda. "And you? Anything to offer?"
Linda opened her mouth, but no words came out. She looked desperately at Dustin.
Dustin stared back at her with cold hatred in his eyes. "Kill her," he said.
Linda gasped. "What?!"
"It is her fault that I fell out with my daughter," Dustin said bitterly. "She poisoned me against my daughter, and she is after the bounty."
Linda shook her head frantically. "No! That is not true! Dustin tell them_"
Emmet chuckled softly. He walked closer while Linda tried to crawl away, but the chains stopped her. "Please," she whispered.
Emmet tilted his head slightly as if thinking. Then suddenly the knife plunged into her chest.
Linda froze, her eyes wide with disbelief. She slowly collapsed to the ground.
Ceaser screamed, unexpectedly.
One of the kids glared at him. "Shush! Big men don’t cry like little girls."
Emmet wiped the knife again before looking at Dustin and Ceaser. "Now," he said calmly, "I know where Moon is. But to get to her there is a man I need to kill." He pointed down the road. "We need an army from Fortress Four, it is not that far, we just need to cross the river and reach Kingsbridge." Then he turned the knife toward Ceaser. "Can you get those people at that place to give me an army? Or do you know Hades Quinn?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Ceaser nodded so fast his neck almost snapped. "Yes! Yes!"
Emmet raised an eyebrow. "Really? Which of the two are you saying yes to?"
"Both," Ceaser said quickly, forcing a smile. "I know people there, an army would be easy to get." It was a complete lie, but Ceaser had realized something important. These children were insane, and insane people were extremely dangerous.
Dustin suddenly spoke. "Hades Quinn is my son-in-law, he owns the fortress."
Emmet looked at him. "Good, because this man is an enemy of his too."
Dustin nodded calmly. "We will be welcomed there. Moon’s sister Sunshine placed a bounty on her head because she was worried about her younger one. You can take it all. In fact, my daughter Sunshine will welcome you as a hero if you take me take me to her safely."
One of the kids whispered quietly, "Heroes! I am now more excited to go to this fortress."
The other nodded. "Maybe we can live there."
"That is for Emmet to decide, we follow his lead."
Emmet studied Dustin silently for a moment before laughing slowly. "Well then." He turned and began walking down the road. "Let us go." He paused and looked at the prisoners. "Do bother trying to use your abilities, Trixie is a superhuman ability blocker."
He motioned for them to move. The kids followed happily behind him, chatting and joking loudly. One boy kicked a trader’s body as he passed.
Estella walked beside Emmet and glanced at him. "You believe them?"
Emmet shrugged. "Not 100%."
"Then why are we letting them live?"
Emmet smiled again, the same dangerous smile. "It doesn’t matter because if they lie," he said calmly, "I will slit their throats."
Behind them Ceaser and Dustin exchanged a glance. At that moment they both realized something terrifying. They had escaped one nightmare... and walked straight into another.
