Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Choosing Weapon

The cute beastmen chibis walking around the castle seemed to be more cautious compared to usual. She would see a scene where beastmen would glance at some potted plant. Even a breeze would make them stare for a long time.

Usually, they would walk straight without minding their surroundings too much. Now, they glanced at their left or right a few times, full of caution.

What had happened while she was gone? She just went to prepare dinner!

However, dinner tonight was her favorite spicy noodle, so she couldn’t wait to enjoy it and no longer think much about the residents’ oddity. She moved the screen to her favorite beastman, Yuanyuan.

Xie Ziyuan was standing beside Lin Yu’an, looking at the chests full of weapons.

"I will help you pick a suitable weapon." He told the little black cat.

They began to try on the weapons one by one. There were also some weapons that weren’t put inside the weapon chests because they were simply too big.

Lin Yu’an stared at the huge axe in wonder. Its height was comparable to him! Beastmen like him could lift a boulder stone with some effort. As such, he tried to lift it.

In the end, he was left speechless and rather embarrassed. It was clear that the weapons in this place were made of special materials. He couldn’t even lift the massive axe.

"Such a big weapon isn’t suitable for you." Xie Ziyuan commented.

Lin Yu’an blushed and stepped back, scratching his head in embarrassment and anxiety. "I just want to try such a huge weapon... it should have a massive explosive power." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Such a weapon for melee fighting also required great strength to maximize their power. With Lin Yu’an stature, bigger weapons weren’t suitable.

"Try all the weapons you find suitable for you." Xie Ziyuan mind it.

Lin Yu’an was grateful that Xie Ziyuan didn’t think he was overestimating himself. He opened the chest one by one, trying on the longsword, spear, even guns.

He held the gun in his hand, wondering what kind of weapon it was. He hesitated for a moment before he asked Xie Ziyuan. "Master Xie, what kind of weapon is it?"

He grew up with a poor condition, and guns were more commonly seen in the modern world before the apocalypse. Most beastmen who lived in the area with high-level contamination wouldn’t have access to such knowledge.

In the current era, it was a rare weapon. Of course, considering beastmen were stronger than ordinary people, they enhanced the materials. The ammunition was more indestructible and deadly, some even coated in poison.

"It’s called a gun." Xie Ziyuan took the thing from Lin Yu’an arms. He checked the magazine; unfortunately, it was empty.

He checked other chests. There was no ammunition available in this place. As he searched, Lin Yu’an followed him, listening as he explained how the guns work.

The little black cat’s eyes were full of astonishment.

"But without ammunition, this thing is useless," Xie Ziyuan explained.

Lin Yu’an was quite smart, so he immediately grasped how the thing worked. He nodded in understanding. "It’s similar to a crossbow. We need the arrows to fire it."

Su Yining watched with interest as they talked about weapons. It was one of the major necessities for the base. Even if the beastmen already have abilities, if they had weapons, it was like having another means for self-protection.

They could enhance their offensive ability by merging their power with the weapon.

She added the weapon problem to the list of the things she needed to develop for the base. The current number of weapons exceeded the number of residents, but once the residents increased, some might not get any.

When she heard about ammunition, Su Yining subconsciously clicked on the game shop. She searched the list and finally found it. However... she couldn’t buy it for the time being. The number of gold coins needed to buy it wasn’t even specified.

She was a little helpless. The cute little black cat seemed to have taken a liking to the gun, but there wasn’t any ammunition available.

Xie Ziyuan and Lin Yu’an had long moved to another area consisting of long-range weapons. The latter grasped a crossbow, tracing its wooden surface.

"Master Xie, I want to try this." Lin Yu’an decided, his usually timid eyes filled with determination.

Crossbows were easier to learn compared to longbows. He knew time was tight and didn’t have the leisure to learn it. Hence, he picked the crossbow since it was easier to trigger.

Among the four beastmen who were going to pick up Ma Yongcheng and Leng Chuan’s families, he was the weakest. He understood why Xie Ziyuan brought him to pick a weapon first.

Xie Ziyuan nodded at the little black cat’s choice. He took a dagger from one of the chests and handed it to Lin Yu’an. "Take this one for self-defense."

Lin Yu’an grasped the knife, his eyes full of gratitude. After that, Xie Ziyuan helped him to train his skill in managing the crossbow.

He was quite hard-working. At first, many of his aims were simply off, yet he wasn’t discouraged. Xie Ziyuan even brought him to an area with a lamp, making him flattered. After all, electricity was too scarce and they could only use it a few hours per day.

Su Yining watched the two until she grew bored and fell asleep. She set the alarm so that she could wake up early.

When she woke up, the first thing she saw wasn’t the cute beastmen chibis from the game, but some messages from Han Zhicong describing how he managed to fool Chen Kaixuan.

Tsk, he went through such a great length to deceive his own friend. They were quite close, so he naturally knew Chen Kaixuan’s preference, even the type of woman he liked.

Just thinking about how Han Zhicong imitated Su Ruolan’s style—talking in a gentle and girlish manner—made her shudder in disgust. However, she had to applaud this man’s mental fortitude. He was willing to do anything for money.

Chen Kaixuan would give him money for every news he had gotten from him. Disgustingly, it was about her, Su Yining. He especially ordered Han Zhicong to monitor her.

She thought about Chen Kaixuan’s face once he found out he had been talking to his friend instead of her. It made her laugh uncontrollably.

Hmph, serve him right!

It would be better if their friendship shattered after that.

Su Yining shook her head and logged into the game again. The three beastmen already gathered with Xie Ziyuan, ready to set off.
