Apocalyptic Beastworld: A Farming Space Dimension to Another World-Chapter 32: Similar Fate
"Are you trying to kill yourself?" Han Zhicong saw her gulping down her third cup of coffee and couldnโt help but commented. ๐ณ๐ซ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฏ๐๐จ๐๐๐น.๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ
She rolled her eyes. "I know what I am doing. Save those words for yourself."
He exhaled, running his hands through his hair with some frustration. Thinking about how he just told her about his familyโs situation, his face burned.
However, he was a little thankful she didnโt mock his family because of it. Even if she still stayed ruthless when it came to being sarcastic with him...
Anyway, how would he convince her otherwise? This woman was someone who could only be convinced with logic. She would want to get to the bottom of things before she agreed.
"Just a piece of advice, Han Zhicong. Itโs best to let go of people who have changed." Su Yining shook her head as she stood up, grasping the cup of coffee in her hand. She took another sip with relish.
"What do you knowโ" he abruptly stopped and whipped his head in her direction. He saw her lips curled up mockingly again, causing him to fall silent.
"While itโs true that you once had good memories with them, they are no longer their past selves. You are merely holding on to their shadow..." she let out a sigh before excusing herself.
While it was true that she disliked this man for tattling on Chen Kaixuan about her or his harassment, she did feel a bit of pity. Their situation was similar yet very different. At least that man still had his family with him.
Her current situation, who was utterly alone in this world, was more similar to her Yuanyuan instead. As such, it didnโt matter whether he was just a game character, she couldnโt help but sympathize with him.
Actually, it was not only him. Other NPCs in the game had a similar fate as her, right?
If she built her apocalyptic base, they would have a place to stay and no longer be alone again...
She didnโt go directly home. Only an hour had passed, and the probability that Chen Kaixuan was still loitering around her house was still high.
As such, she walked toward the streets where people sold street food. There were many pastries, dumplings, scallion pancakes and many more. She bought some pancakes and sat down on street furniture.
Her pancakes were still warm. She instinctively took out her phone again, remembering it was almost time for the rice to be ready for harvest.
However, in the corner of her eye, she noticed a familiar figure and stiffened, a little flustered. She pushed the phone back into her pocket and stood up to leave.
"Ningning!" The manโs voice, both gentle and cold, echoed.
She didnโt turn back, mingling with the crowd, a little lost. The man couldnโt catch up with her.
Han Zhicongโs words rang in her ears.
"I will take care of the consequence, Su Yining. As long as you give it to me. You already know I am not a good person. If I do some more wicked deeds, it does not matter," he had said.
For the sake of peace, she had somehow become an accomplice.
Han Zhicong had a younger sister who needed money for surgery, and as such, he was desperate. His mother recently broke her right hand, and she was unable to earn money.
As for his father... he was a total scumbag. He was an alcoholic, a total player with a lot of mistresses. When Han Zhicong wasnโt home, his father had taken his savings meant for his sisterโs surgery.
His mother tried to stop her husband. Alas, in the process, she had gotten hurt instead. His husband shoved her away roughly, and as such, her arm hit a piece of furniture.
She spent the whole afternoon outside, walking around the bustling city. Even if once she went back home, the loneliness would feel more palpable.
"Miss, donโt go there."
Subconsciously, she had wandered too far.
She blinked at the young man in front of him, confusion etched on her face. There was a bus stop not far from where they were currently standing. "Why?"
"There is a crazy man who usually loiter at that place around this time. Itโs better if you go to another bus stop. A bit far from here but much safer," he explained.
Su Yining wasnโt sure whether he was talking the truth. The bus stop indeed seemed to be deserted; there was no one around. She thought it was because she had arrived at the less crowded area.
"Alright. Thank you for your reminder." She smiled at him and walked away.
The man didnโt leave. She could sense him was still watching her as if making sure she would really leave. The feeling was just too peculiar.
She had just taken a few steps away when she heard someone screaming. Her head whipped behind her. Her pupils dilated in shock.
The man didnโt lie!
"Old man, go away! Donโt disturb people here!" The young manโs harsh voice echoed. "Go back wherever you come from."
The old man screamed, pouncing toward him. His appearance was really dirty, with unkempt hair and clothes that were smeared with some dirt. It was unknown how long he hadnโt taken any bath.
The moment his eyes met hers, she jolted and didnโt hesitate anymore. She took large strides. Except for the young man, she noticed that the street had become more quiet the moment the crazy old man appeared.
His eyes flashed in her mind. What kind of disease could make one have such eyes? It strangely reminded her of zombies...
The color was a little different compared to the zombie she saw the first time she loaded the game. The similarity was the white color which covered his irises. Other than that spot, they were somewhat yellow.
Su Yining didnโt know how she arrived home. She only remembered she had boarded a bus home. The sky had become a little darker with some hint of orange hue.
"So, here you are, Su Yining." A sneering sound echoed from somewhere.
She dropped her key in surprise. Immediately, she picked it up again.
Chen Kaixuanโs figure emerged in her line of sight. He approached her, jumping through the fence of her home.
