Apocalyptic Beastworld: A Farming Space Dimension to Another World-Chapter 18: Ghostly Woman’s New Target?
They all glanced at each other, some were startled although there were a few beastmen who also agreed with the person who had just spoken up.
Lin Yuyao closed her eyes, wondering whether they were rescuing kidnapped people who were about to be sold or entering a wolf’s den instead.
"We don’t mean it in a bad way, Lin Yuyao. Don’t misunderstand us. Master Xie has helped all of us, naturally we are also worried about him," another beastman added.
She glanced at him, who seemed to be a newcomer. The person was a familiar female beastman from the squirrel tribe.
When Lin Yuyao had her hands and feet tied, this female beastman was beside her. So, she was among one of the most familiar people in this place for her.
This female squirrel was a lively soul, often chattering when the traffickers weren’t paying attention.
"Don’t make things difficult for Yaoyao." Qi Mian, the squirrel female beastman furrowed her brows in disapproval.
The man’s gaze faltered. "I am just making a suggestion." He held his hands up. "If you all don’t agree, it’s fine. But if something were to happen to our savior because of our negligence, we all will regret it."
"Don’t curse people like that." Qi Mian glared at him, pursing her lips in anger.
The man ignored her and turned to Lin Yuyao. "What do you think?" His gaze swept over the beastmen in the cave. "Does anyone here know about medicine?"
Someone stepped up. "I won’t call myself proficient in medicine, but I know some basics. I might be able to give some treatment to Master Xie before his condition worsens."
In the chamber, Xie Ziyuan was unaware of the ruckus outside. He was inside his inner space, taking a rest in his thatched hut.
He had just woke up. After some hours of rest, his condition had more or less stabilized a little. In a single thought, he appeared on the rice field. His eyes fixated on the golden paddy rice which was plum and ready for harvest.
He walked toward the warehouse, checking something before he returned to the field.
His gaze deepened.
That woman... she hasn’t come again, has she?
Usually, she would have come at this time, at least just harvesting the crops, but the number of the rice portions inside the warehouse didn’t increase the slightest.
The paddy rice was still on the field, swaying because of the occasional wind.
Xie Ziyuan closed his eyes. Once he opened them again, he let out a breath. On his hand, there was a small pill. It was the last remaining pill that the woman had given him.
He swallowed it without hesitation. The throbbing sensation on his shoulder was considerably lessened. Even with the pill’s existence, he hadn’t immediately taken it when he got injured.
There was only one pill and he couldn’t waste it. He waited to kill the last kidnapper, letting the wounds accumulate before taking it. Otherwise, if he sustained more injuries, he wouldn’t have any more pills to heal them.
He sat down, gazing at the field. With pursed lips, he suddenly stood up and went to the mailbox post. He opened the mailbox, taking out a piece of paper.
It was blank.
The ghostly woman hadn’t written anything back for him.
His frown deepened. He stuffed the paper back with a snort. So, does that woman plan to abandon him now that she saw there are more suitable candidates she could work with?
Since she didn’t write anything for him, he also wouldn’t say anything to her!
With that, Xie Ziyuan sat back down in his previous place. He couldn’t help but ponder. It seems that she has chosen a suitable candidate, hasn’t she? The teleportation talisman was in Lin Yuyao’s hands, so it must be her.
He took out the teleportation talisman from his pocket, tracing the complicated runes on it. After putting the thing back beside the key, he began to harvest the crops.
This time, he was more patient. Once he was done harvesting, he put the seeds on the seedling tray and waited for an hour before he planted them on the field.
His body was currently brimming with energy, and even the wound on his shoulder was no longer as painful as before.
He exited the inner space.
Once he did, he heard all the commotion outside.
"Stop! You will disturb Master Xie’s rest!" It was Lin Yuyao’s voice.
"Master Xie has reminded us not to disturb him when he is resting." A softer voice laced with some timidity also spoke up. It was Lin Yu’an.
After the siblings spoke, he heard some arguments from unfamiliar voices. His eyes narrowed, and a cold light flashed. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
The wooden plank covering the chamber flew a few meters away, startling the people who were busy arguing.
Xie Ziyuan walked out, his aura surging, much stronger than before. His eyes, sharp and penetrating, staring at everyone present as if he could see the secrets buried within their hearts.
The relapse had left him with a dull ache, yet it didn’t bother him at all.
"Master Xie!" Lin Yu’an’s soft yet excited voice called out. While everyone was busy staring at the wooden plank, he was the first one who had noticed his presence.
Xie Ziyuan’s aura shocked most of the beastmen presence. Most of them lowered their heads; their knees became weak because of his powerful presence. His bloodline had strangely suppressed theirs.
He ignored the others. Turning to the Lin siblings, he gestured to them. "You two, come with me."
They only regained their senses after they saw him entering the chamber again. The Lin siblings hurriedly followed after him. Lin Yu’an picked up the wooden plank and covered the chamber after entering.
Seeing Xie Ziyuan was like seeing a savior. Still, the Lin siblings expressed their concern about his condition first. Only after they confirmed he was alright did they begin to tell them about their worries.
"Master Xie, we have let you down. I am sorry, we don’t expect that they are such people," Lin Yuyao muttered indignantly.
As the siblings discussed important matters with Xie Ziyuan, others couldn’t hear them. Soon, they became restless.
However, as they whispered among themselves, trying to figure out who this Master Xie was, they soon became startled again.
The monkey beastman who had run away with Xie Ziyuan’s portion of roasted bear meat had come back! He shot in toward the cave like a missile, battered and bruised. Blood poured down from his wounds.
