Apocalyptic Beastworld: A Farming Space Dimension to Another World-Chapter 110: Harvest from the Green Sector
Seeing Yuanyuan in a deep thought, Su Yining didn’t disturb him and sneaked out to the Green Sector.
The seeds she gave them were incredibly quick to grow, and just in one month, the carrots were nearly ready for harvest.
"Not today..." Wan Lan shook her little head, staring at the carrot she had just pulled out. "Tomorrow will be the best time."
"Really?" Lin Yuyao almost couldn’t hold back her excitement, staring at the carrot in Wan Lan’s hands with happiness and curiosity. The color and shape were exactly the same as the picture on the package seeds.
"Should we tell Master Xie?" Wan Lan asked, trying to distract herself from the carrot’s mouthwatering smell.
They had planted a decent number for this batch. As per Xie Ziyuan’s suggestion, they planted over five hundred. On the other hand, the number for the chili was less, only around two hundred.
The chili wasn’t ready to be picked yet, needing more time. Wan Lan calculated they would need another half a month before they could begin the first harvest.
Chili plants were different from the carrots that can only be harvested once; they could harvest the chili a few times. Xie Ziyuan himself also confirmed this. Although they didn’t know where he had gained such knowledge, they didn’t doubt him at all.
Wan Lan studied Lin Yuyao’s face, a little confused. It seemed that this carrot was only attractive to her alone. Or maybe... for all rabbits? Her lop ears twitched at this possibility.
She shoved the carrot into Lin Yuyao’s hands, afraid she might not be able to resist and accidentally took a bite. "You hold it, Yuyao."
Lin Yuyao looked puzzled, but she still accepted. She went to find water and washed it clean. The leaves were very lush and green. It seemed that they could eat it too? They would need to ask Xie Ziyuan for this.
Lately, she had been busier in taking care of the plants with Wan Lan. As such, Lu Qingtang took over some of her tasks, dividing it with her.
"It’s clean. Let’s go." Lin Yuyao nodded.
They walked toward the tower, bringing the carrot on a huge plate. The carrot could have grown bigger if they waited any longer, but Wan Lan knew the current time was the best to harvest it.
Its current width was similar to the size of a beastman’s three fingers, and its length around the average of a beastman’s wrist to their middle finger.
Once the carrot grew to this size, Wan Lan could feel that their growth would be slower. As such, she wanted to discuss with Xie Ziyuan whether they should harvest it while the nutrition was at the highest and the pollution value was still considered low.
Pollution could potentially damage some plants’ nutrition too. Even in such a high tech place, they still couldn’t escape from being contaminated by pollution.
Su Yining watched with anticipation as the beastmen curiously watched the orange item on Lin Yuyao’s tray.
Yuanyuan already told her that the apples could calm one’s mind and block some pollution from entering the body. She was curious whether this carrot had some benefit for the beastmen besides filling their stomach too.
"Ziyuan, the carrot is ready for harvest now~"
She didn’t hesitate to find Xie Ziyuan and told him that the two female beastmen were heading to his place.
To be honest, when she first saw that the seeds weren’t for staple food like corn or rice, she was a bit disappointed. However, she guessed the chili and carrots seeds were still better than nothing.
It would even be best if they had some benefit like the apples.
Oh?
He exited his inner space after he saw her message.
Xie Ziyuan, who was sitting on his chair, left the watchtower and took a position on the walkway of the fortress wall. Everyone would be able to see him as long as they headed to the watchtower.
Wan Lan and Lin Yuyao were still quite far away, so he went inside his inner space again.
"There are a lot of harvests this time around, what should we do with them?" He asked for her opinion.
Is there no quest this time around? He remembered it was her who had asked him to plant exactly five hundred carrots and two hundred chili. She usually wouldn’t ask him such a specific matter without any reason.
Su Yining was taken aback. She blinked and tilted her head. Yuanyuan is asking for her opinion?
She racked her brain and couldn’t find a solution for the time being. "How about we find out if there’s any advantage from consuming the carrot first? If there is any, keep it for ourselves. Otherwise, we can sell them too."
Xie Ziyuan curled his lips, and he exited his inner space, meeting Wan Lan and Lin Yuyao’s startled gazes.
"Master Xie," they immediately recovered and greeted him.
"It’s time for harvest?" His eyes swept over the carrot on the tray.
Although he didn’t join them in managing the plants in the Green Sector, he also monitored and gave some suggestions when necessary, making sure nothing would go wrong.
Wan Lan swallowed, and she hurriedly explained, "Master Xie, it’s like this..."
She told him about the decreasing nutrition and increasing pollution on the carrots. Xie Ziyuan nodded in agreement, calmly making a decision. "Harvest them tomorrow."
It was Lin Yuyao’s turn to speak now. "Master Xie, can the leaves from this plant be eaten?"
"It’s edible, but a little bitter," he answered.
"Not poisonous?" Lin Yuyao seemed surprised. Taste didn’t matter in the current time. As long as they could fill in their stomach, they would be content.
Xie Ziyuan wanted to dismiss them, but then he remembered the ghostly woman’s words. His eyes landed on the carrot again, and in an instant he decided it was better for another beastman to try.
With his current condition, he doubted it would have an accurate effect.
"You two should try the vegetable’s orange part," Xie Ziyuan said, "Then, tell me if it has any special effect."
Wan Lan and Lin Yuyao glanced at each other. They quickly took a knife and chopped the carrot into two small parts. After that, they unhesitatingly put them in their mouths.
They chewed the carrots; their faces showing different reactions as they did so.
"How is it?" Xie Ziyuan’s deep voice rang out, questioning them.
