Apocalypse with my SSS Harem Beauties-Chapter 89: Ruined
The group immediately walked through the ruined streets. The air felt colder and lighter here than the air inside the Rift. Even when it was thick with rot and smoke. ππΏπ²ππ°πππ§πππ²π₯.πππ
No monsters roamed the area, no survivors wandered in sight. This whole sector was dead.
They passed the same intersection that led toward another district. The massive pulsing boulder still stood there blocking the road.
Myles slowed down. His eyes narrowed on the object. Its dark and stony surface throbbed with purple veins that glowed from within.
After leveling up, he could sense it more clearly, there was a faint rhythm of life buried inside. It wasnβt just an illusion. The thing really was alive and waiting to hatch or grow.
He felt a chill crawl up his neck. Maybe it really was an egg. But he didnβt say a word. The others seemed to feel the same unease, they also glanced at the boulder once before moving on in silence.
They followed the road until the familiar outline of the university building came into view. The place that had served as their shelter before.
But as soon as they reached the front courtyard, their steps stopped.
Bodies lay scattered across the cracked pavement with torn limbs, shredded torsos, or half-burned. All unmistakably human.
Myles felt his stomach tighten. These were the refugees who had stayed behind because they were just too afraid to fight or scavenge.
They had chosen to hide inside and wait for the miracle that this nightmare will end. Now their bodies were here, lifeless and mutilated.
"What the hell happened here?" Victor muttered with disbelief in his voice.
No one answered. The group raised their new weapons, instincts sharpening. The glow of enchanted steel reflected against the blood-stained walls as they stepped forward.
When they got closer, the sight grew worse. Pieces of flesh and torn clothing littered the stairs and pavement leading into the building.
Clara pressed her lips together and forced herself to speak. "This is them... the people inside. They were slaughtered by something."
Her voice trembled but she didnβt look away. The fear that once ruled her had dulled after what she had been through.
Daniel stepped past her and squinted toward the open doorway.
"Who couldβve found them?" he whispered. Then his eyes widened.
Everyone turned to where he looked. The campus street ahead was littered with even more remains. Heads, torsos, limbs scattered. Whatever had attacked them had done it brutally and fast.
Myles clenched his jaw. His gaze swept across the area, every nerve alert.
"Whatever did this is probably still nearby," he said.
The group immediately moved into circle formation, backs facing each other, weapons raised. The air felt heavier as if something unseen was watching from the shadows.
"What should we do?" Nadine asked quietly.
"We must leave," Myles replied. "Now. Before it sees us."
No one argued. They turned and ran, keeping low and silent as they left the blood-soaked ground behind.
A few hundred meters later, they found an intact house standing at the corner of the street. The sun had already dipped below the horizon, turning the sky into a dull shade of red. Dusk settled over the ruins.
They slipped inside the house, closing the door and windows tight. The faint creak of wood echoed in the quiet.
Myles approached the window and peeked through a gap in the curtain. His eyes scanned the empty street outside.
Nadine stepped beside him and peered through the same gap in the curtain. Her voice came out in a low whisper. "What do you think caused that?"
"I think itβs something big," Myles said, eyes still locked on the street. "You saw the tracks, didnβt you? Something massive broke through the doors and..." He stopped mid-sentence, his expression tightening into realization.
Nadine glanced at him. "What?"
Myles turned to her slightly, his voice even lower. "Could it be the giant from the apartment before?"
Nadine blinked, the realization dawning slowly in her mind. "It could be... but do you think thereβs any chance it was something else?"
"It could," Myles admitted. "But that giant is still the most likely. Heβs intelligent, and maybe he got bored staying in the apartment complex. He might have wandered out, looking for prey, and found the university building."
Nadineβs eyes flicked back toward the dark street. "But I think weβre going to be okay now even if we meet him," she said. "After gaining all these levels and weapons, our strength as a group has grown a lot."
Myles stayed quiet, thinking over her words. She wasnβt wrong.
The power gap between then and now was wide.
They had survived the Undertakerβs trial, cleared the Rift, upgraded their stats, and armed themselves with magic weapons.
He remembered that battle in the apartment. The speed and the strength of that monsterβs attacks had been overwhelming.
But now, he feels a lot stronger than before. His body moved faster, his MP flowed smoother, and this time, he wasnβt alone. There were nine others with them.
"Youβre right," Myles said finally. "But I donβt want to get overconfident. Weβll prepare carefully before facing him again."
Nadine nodded, her expression firm. The two of them stayed by the window.

Inside the ruined house, a woman sat collapsed on the floor. Her blank eyes wide open and streaked with tears that no longer fell.
Whatever strength or sanity she had left was gone after a few minutes ago.
The pale blue skinned giant stood before her, exhaling a long satisfied sigh after what he had done.
Around them, the room was wrecked. The air was thick with the stench of blood and fear.
Her husband lay nearby, motionless, his limbs was broken and twisted unnaturally. His sanity also had already left him long before when she saw the giant raped her violently.
The giant looked down at the shattered remains of the two and murmured with cold indifference, "Now Iβm done. Should I let you live?"
No answer came.
He smirked faintly. "I donβt think so."
