Chapter 142: Chapter 142: The Scroll

She could see how the spiritual power stored in there moved like liquid gas. She also realized that the border separating the spiritual energy and superpower energy in the dantian was no longer a clear line, but had blurred and the two energies were mixing at the border.

She didn’t understand what was happening but she assumed that if the two mixed, then she would be able to use her spiritual energy for her superpower and her superpower energy for her cultivation technique.

This was a benefit because she wouldn’t have to worry about running out of one when she needed it while the other was in abundance.

Chu Miao sensed around her body to determine the changes and realized that her meridians and dantian had not just become wider, they had become stronger too.

They were no longer as fragile as before, bursting at the slightest aggression. Now, they could handle attacks aimed directly at them.

Not only had the meridians and dantian been strengthened, even her flesh and bones were the same.

It felt as if they had been dismantled and reassembled in a more perfect way. After using the body tempering technique before, her flesh and bones had become tough enough to stop a knife from an ordinary person.

Now, with this new round of tempering, she could stop a knife from a more powerful superpower user.

She believed that if she underwent another round of body tempering, she would be able to stop a bullet.

This was the ultimate goal of a cultivator, to become stronger.

She was glad she had not given up halfway. Now, she didn’t have to worry about anybody coveting her ability and capturing her to use for experiments.

If anyone tried, she would send them with a one-way ticket to hell.

She opened her eyes and was astonished to find that everything that had happened wasn’t an illusion but real.

She had indeed bled from her pores and now she was covered in dried blood and grime. She wanted so much to leave and go take a bath and change, but when she turned around, she found her brother sitting next to her in a meditation position with the scroll in her hands.

The silk wrapping the scroll had been removed and put aside. Various golden characters she couldn’t understand were floating around Chu Hao as if trying to find a way to enter his body.

His face was twisted in pain and one could imagine the kind of agony he was going through.

After what she had experienced, Chu Miao was aware that what her brother was going through wasn’t any less painful.

She didn’t have a way to help him since this was his trial, and only he could pass it. She hoped that her brother wouldn’t give up.

However, knowing his stubbornness despite being silly sometimes, she was sure that he wouldn’t give up.

At that moment, Chu Hao’s consciousness was inside a chamber filled with a gas similar to spiritual energy.

At the moment he picked up the scroll from the box and removed the silk piece of cloth covering it that was in pristine condition despite the thousands of years it had sat in that box, the scroll left his hand and flew to mid-air.

He looked at it, then at the empty box and silk cloth in his hand and put them both in his space ring.

Looking up at the scroll, he saw it open on its own and golden characters floated from it.

They flew towards Chu Hao and started circling him. Before he could figure out what was happening, he felt the room warp and the next moment, found himself in a chamber filled with unknown mist.

He could feel that the mist was a type of energy, but definitely not normal spiritual energy. It had the same feeling like the fog that appeared at the onset of the apocalypse and gave people superpowers.

Before he could understand his current situation, the mist started pouring into his body through every pore and opening in his body.

It was the most uncomfortable and painful feeling he had ever experienced. It felt like the mist was tearing apart his pores to get into his body and the pain made him want to scream.

However, he thought that his sister might be going through the same and she hadn’t made a sound. If he started screaming at that moment, it would be embarrassing, and most importantly, he might disturb his sister.

Therefore, no matter how painful the process became, he endured it. He gritted his teeth and kept quiet.

Using his divine sense, he realized that the mist invading his body was getting divided into two and one part entered his dantian and the other in the crystal core that stores superpower.

Only then did he realize that his speculation was right. This mist was the same as that fog.

Thinking about this, he stopped caring about the pain and started cultivating. He worked hard to help the mist flow smoothly through his meridians and into his dantian and the core.

As time went by, the pain didn’t lessen but increased and he had to keep reminding himself not to disturb his sister. Otherwise, he would have started screaming a long time ago.

As the mist flowed in his body, his cultivation increased from the third level of Qi refinement and stabilized at the fifth level.

On the other hand, his superpower also advanced to the fourth level.

Chu Miao’s superpower had not advanced during her trial and was still at the third level. This means that her brother was probably the first person in the world with the highest superpower level.

But upon seeing the aura around her brother become stronger, she wasn’t jealous but happy for her brother.

This was good. With both of them advancing, they could protect their loved ones better and the people they would lead in the future.

Soon, Chu Miao witnessed as the golden characters surrounding her brother turned into a streak of golden light and entered the space between his brows.

Chu Hao felt a surge of information invade his brain and various sword techniques started appearing in his head.

He had received the swordsmanship inheritance from the senior.

As soon as he opened his eyes and looked around, he came face-to-face with a girl covered in grime and blood looking like she had fought a life-and-death battle.

"Bunny, what happened to you?" He asked as he scrambled to her side to check if she was injured.

He didn’t even care about the black mass covering her skin.

Before Chu Miao could reply, a bright light suddenly shone on the pedestal and an old man with a white beard and long white hair appeared on top of it.
