Apocalypse: Reborn with a Soul Sync Farming Space System-Chapter 26 Buying Firearms (2)
Enzo’s jaw tightened, his eyes darkening. He couldn’t remember the last time someone disrespected him. However, he lifted one hand slowly, silently telling his men who were coming down the stairs to stay back.
Ugo groaned on the floor, clutching his mouth as blood smeared across his lips. His eyes were wide, not only from pain, but from disbelief. He had never been hit that fast in his life. His ego was bruised, especially as it was a pampered rich lady.
Enzo took one calm step forward. "You’re bold."
Ling Xuan didn’t even blink. "So?"
The air seemed to turn colder. Even the dusty basement suddenly felt like a battlefield. The shelves of guns and bullets no longer looked like goods meant for sale, but trophies waiting for the strongest person to claim them.
Enzo stared at Ling Xuan for a long moment, then his gaze shifted to the arrow still stuck in the shelf.
He let out a quiet breath. "She’s not your average rich girl," he muttered.
Ugo spat blood to the side. "Boss...she assaulted me."
"That’s what happens to the weak," Enzo replied flatly.
Ugo froze as if he couldn’t believe what he just heard.
Ling Xuan lifted her chin slightly. "I’m not here to waste time. Calculate the price."
Enzo’s eyes narrowed again. "Everything?"
"Yes."
"And you want the bow too?" Enzo asked.
Ling Xuan’s fingers tightened around the ancient weapon. "This one is mine."
Enzo’s lips twitched, almost like he was amused, then he looked away. "Fine." He waved his hand once. "Add it to her order."
Ugo’s face twisted in anger. "Boss!"
Enzo shot him one sharp glance, and Ugo immediately shut his mouth.
The tattooed man from upstairs walked down holding a small device. He cleared his throat nervously and didn’t even dare to meet Ling Xuan’s eyes.
"Ma’am... that amount won’t be small. Buying this much at once will attract attention."
Ling Xuan stepped closer, and the man immediately swallowed whatever else he wanted to say.
"I didn’t ask for advice," she said calmly.
The man nodded quickly. "Yes... ma’am."
Enzo leaned against the shelf with his arms folded. "Cash or transfer?"
Ling Xuan hesitated. She couldn’t access Laurel’s memories that easily, but she knew Laurel had the black card.
"Card," she said.
The tattooed man hesitated. "We don’t take..."
"We do today," Enzo cut in.
The transaction was done quickly. Ling Xuan didn’t even bother counting the weapons again. She only stared at the stacked boxes of bullets like they were sacks of rice. She just couldn’t wait to test her babies.
She could already picture the valley turning into a war camp.
Satisfied, she turned around and walked out like she owned the place. The bow hung on her shoulder like a trophy from battle.
Behind her, Enzo’s eyes followed her quietly. He didn’t look angry, if anything, he looked curious.
When Ling Xuan reached the front of the store, she paused and turned back.
"You," she said, pointing at Enzo.
Enzo raised a brow. "Me?"
"Deliver everything to this address by noon." Ling Xuan wrote it down on a slip of paper and dropped it on the counter.
Enzo glanced at it, then looked back up. "That’s far."
"Then drive faster," Ling Xuan replied.
Ugo growled from behind. "You really think you can order us around..."
Ling Xuan’s gaze shot toward him so sharply that Ugo swallowed the rest of his words like poison.
Enzo chuckled quietly. "Alright, ma’am, by noon."
Ling Xuan didn’t bother to thank him, she simply turned and left.
The bell above the door jingled weakly as she stepped outside, and the sunlight hit her face. She brought out the sunglasses, wearing them to block the light, but her eyes stayed cold like she was still standing in the middle of a battlefield.
The moment she got into the car, she slammed the door shut.
"Done," Ling Xuan muttered.
Laurel’s voice immediately rang in her head. "How much did you spend?"
Ling Xuan smirked. "A worthy amount."
"That is not an answer," Laurel replied, already anxious.
"It’s enough." Ling Xuan stared ahead at the road. "We finally have weapons, now the valley can be protected."
Laurel went quiet for a moment, then sighed deeply. "...Okay, switch with me. We still need water."
"Fine," Ling Xuan replied, sounding almost annoyed, but she would stay in the space house rather than buy water. "But after that, I get to train this body."
Laurel didn’t answer.
Her body twitched slightly, then her eyes softened again. The tension in her shoulders loosened, and her grip on the steering wheel looked smaller and gentler.
Laurel blinked twice. "I’m back." She adjusted her glasses and inhaled deeply.
"Why do I feel like I was about to commit a crime?" she muttered.
"You were," Ling Xuan replied calmly.
Laurel almost choked. "What?!"
Laurel frowned, why couldn’t she remember what happened again? What could be the trigger this time? She thought inwardly.
Ling Xuan yawned. "Relax, everything is fine."
Laurel rubbed her forehead. "You’re so scary."
"And you’re too soft," Ling Xuan replied.
Laurel ignored her and started driving.
She didn’t return to the mansion, and she didn’t even consider it. Instead, she headed straight to a wholesale district where water could be bought and delivered in large quantities. It wasn’t as hidden as the weapon shop, but she didn’t care.
Soon, the apocalypse would make everyone panic-buy, and then water would become more valuable than money.
She parked in front of a large warehouse store, where workers were moving cartons of bottled water, sweat trickling down their faces.
Laurel stepped out and headed to the manager’s office.
The manager was a middle-aged man with tired eyes. He looked Laurel up and down before speaking.
"Miss, can I help you?"
Laurel smiled politely. "I want to buy water in large quantities."
The manager’s brows lifted. "How many packs?"
Laurel paused. She remembered thirst in the apocalypse, the cracked lips, the dry throat, the way people killed each other over one bottle.
"A lot," she answered simply. "Bottled water, large gallons, and water purification tablets if you have them."
