Chapter 70: Child of Destiny

"Alisha, you’re up first," Aiden said, walking towards her with a spear.

"M-Me? Aiden, I’m not cut out—"

The words froze in her mouth as Aiden wrapped his arms around her from behind, his bare chest pressing lightly against her as he guided her hands to the spear.

"Relax," he murmured, deliberately nibbling her ear.

These vixens had teased him in the morning. How could he let them off without taking his revenge?

Alisha couldn’t register a word he said about javelin throwing. All she heard was the sound of her erratic heartbeat pounding against her ribs.

Meanwhile, Aiden’s left hand settled on her hip, gently adjusting her stance while his right hand covered hers on the shaft of the spear.

"Weight on your back leg... good. Now twist your waist just a little," he said, caressing her ass.

Alisha gulped down her saliva. She knew Aiden was intentionally feeling her up, but she didn’t mind it at all. In fact, she was enjoying it. After all, Aiden had selected her first out of the other three women. So, didn’t it mean she was his favorite?

As if wanting to flirt back, Alisha stepped back, grinding her back against him.

"Like this?" she whispered, her left hand reaching out for the back of his head.

"Yup, you’re doing good. Now remember this feeling."

"Which feeling—AH!"

Before she could say anything, Aiden wrapped his left arm around her waist and lifted her up. Like before, he burst into a sprint.

"Let go when I tell you to," he said. "Now!"

Alisha threw the spear by her own strength. She expected the spear to fall off the terrace since she didn’t think she had any strength. Karina thought the same. That’s why they both were taken aback when the spear flew straight at the bird.

"What the—!?"

There was no sonic boom or an after shock, but the spear still shot out like a damn bullet. The bird, having learned its lesson, quickly rolled to the side, evading the spear again.

"Good throw," Aiden said, kissing her head before putting her down. "Now that you know how to do it, you girls can hunt the bird yourselves." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Saying so, Aiden walked over to Milarel, who gracefully sat down, patting her thighs to clean off any dust that might have been there. He didn’t hesitate and lay down, letting her shield him from the sun.

Karina’s eyes shot between a beaming Alisha and a happy Mila. Why did the two of them get to have Aiden?

She had assumed that after teaching Alisha, he would teach her too! After all, she had seen the way Aiden’s hands had lingered on Alisha’s body and heard their soft murmurs.

Was she jealous?

Of course she was!

She was supposed to be his first, and yet when it came to romance, suddenly she was last? In her jealousy, Karina even forgot all about her hatred for the oversized bird above. Perhaps that’s what everyone called being love-brained.

"Aiden, could you—?"

Karina approached him with a smile, only to get cut off.

"Oh, Karina, I’m looking forward to your throws! Let’s go!" Aiden said, clapping twice before closing his eyes. "I trust you."

Why did Alisha get the full treatment while I was told to ’try it myself’?

In the Otherworld, Aiden’s generals would kill thousands of vampires just to hear him say he trusted them. But for Karina, his words were like a dagger.

"What’s the point of having your trust if you don’t touch me?" Karina grumbled, picking up a spear. "Maybe..."

Suddenly, she got an idea.

Her posture was correct a moment ago, but she deliberately twisted her ankle. She wasn’t even holding the spear properly.

It’s one thing to act and another to put no effort at all.

Aiden sighed, peeking at her through his eyelashes.

Just then, Karina threw the spear with an awkward push. Forget about going upwards, the spear fell straight down onto a balcony, smashing against James’ coffee mug.

"Who the... argh!"

James looked up, saw the massive bird, and rushed back inside. Aiden had told them not to step out, yet James did. As a result, he lost his favorite coffee mug. Not like it would have mattered much even if it were his neck.

Meanwhile, on the terrace, Karina was still busy with her act.

"Oops," Karina said, turning towards Aiden. "I guess I’m not as naturally gifted as you thought, Aiden. It seems I might need the hands-on lessons from you."

Aiden cracked one eye open, looked at her for two full seconds, then closed it.

"Try again."

Karina pouted, but turned around. She thought the throw wasn’t too bad, and that’s why Aiden wanted her to try again. So this time, the throw was even worse. The spear spun and slammed into the terrace railing before dropping straight down.

Below, James had barely summoned enough courage to pick up the shattered pieces of the cup when another spear came tumbling down, missing his fingers by half an inch.

"Argh!" he jumped back, closing the balcony door once and for all.

Karina turned around and asked for help again. However, Aiden didn’t even flinch. He stayed comfortably sprawled on Milarel’s thighs, one arm draped lazily over his eyes while the other waved her off dismissively.

"Fine!" Karina frowned.

She grabbed a third spear, then a fourth, each throw more deliberately awful than the last. On the fifth attempt, she was practically stomping her foot while complaining about Aiden’s behavior to her ancestors.

She was about to throw seriously this time, but then Aiden rushed towards her. Karina’s senses caught his movement, but before she could react, his palm came down hard on her ass.

"Eek!"

The sudden sting made Karina let go of the spear. Much like Aiden’s throw, the spear shot upwards with a boom. The bird tried to move, but since Karina hadn’t thrown a single correct shot, it was taken by surprise.

The creature let out a shriek as the spear tore off one of its wings clean. It wildly flapped its remaining wing, cursing its greed to get easy food from the building.

However, it was all for naught as Alisha threw another spear that hit its remaining wing, making it crash down, right near the entrance of the apartment building.

Karina, however, wasn’t looking at the bird. She was too busy rubbing her back, glaring at Aiden. The look she gave him wanted Aiden to tease her more, but a system notification froze him to the spot.
