Chapter 35: Chapter 31: What’s That Smell?

Tang Yiyi looked at the prompt box and hesitated for a moment before choosing to continue. Although deducting 100 points at once seemed a bit excessive, she had already found a way to earn points. Once used up, she could just buy some unwanted mutant beasts, so she didn’t feel any remorse!

After choosing to continue, a new interface popped up on the panel, detailing methods to neutralize the toxicity of the mutated black ant. To neutralize it, the mutated black ant had to be disassembled first to obtain the edible parts. To learn the disassembly method, more points had to be spent.

This time, Tang Yiyi didn’t hesitate at all and spent 100 points directly to buy the disassembly method for the mutated black ant. As she looked at the remaining 140 points in the top-right corner of the panel, along with the red warning text, her brows furrowed. Tang Yiyi didn’t want to lose her basic access level and be in debt again, so she didn’t buy the cooking method. Instead, she carefully followed the instructions to disassemble the two nearly two-meter-long mutated black ants and cleaned the edible parts before storing them in a sealed box in the fridge.

Although the mutated black ant looked quite large, only a portion was edible. After disassembly, there was quite a bit of waste material left. Tang Yiyi was a bit troubled by the heap of waste on the counter; having never dealt with mutant beasts before, she had no idea how to handle the leftover waste.

Just as she was hesitating about whether to toss all the waste into the trash, the system’s voice suddenly spoke: "The host has basic access and can use the recycle, disassemble, and synthesis functions to recycle, disassemble, and synthesize the food waste. Each use deducts points based on the waste’s weight and the type of synthesized items."

Tang Yiyi was initially taken aback, then checked the system panel and indeed found the recycle, disassemble, and synthesis buttons at the bottom. She clicked on each, quickly understanding their functions. Simply put, if she desired, the system could recycle all food waste, disassemble it, and then synthesize new items.

Recycling, disassembly, and synthesis would deduct the corresponding points, and the synthesized items mainly consisted of fertilizer, tools, weapons, and protective gear—all highly practical items. However, the higher the item’s level, the more materials and points required, along with sufficient access level. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Currently, Tang Yiyi only had basic access, allowing her to synthesize fertilizer and some simple tools and weapons. Yet, even this was enough to astonish her! When she first bound herself to the system, she didn’t fully understand it and didn’t pay much attention. In fact, since the weapons and tools provided by the system were quite useless, she found the system bizarre.

Only at this moment did she truly recognize the system’s extraordinary nature and realize how fortunate she was to acquire such a system at her critical moment! If others knew of such a thing, there’d be a frenzy to seize it. Imagining this scenario, Tang Yiyi’s heart began racing faster.

After a long while, she finally calmed down, recycled and disassembled the mutated black ant’s waste, closed the system panel, and began processing the pile of pigskin she had bought. The pigskin was all scraps with poor appearance, but Tang Yiyi didn’t mind. She soon processed all the pigskin, cleaned it, and stored most in sealed boxes in the fridge, while cooking the remaining portion with spices in a pot.

While Tang Yiyi was busy in the kitchen, Sun Jian wasn’t idle either. Seeing the kitchen door was tightly locked, he guessed Tang Yiyi preferred him not to see inside and didn’t mind. Instead, he used this time to clean and disinfect the entire house, worried even a bit of mess might make Tang Yiyi, the pregnant woman, uncomfortable.

Initially, he was quite afraid of Tang Yiyi, but after she helped him resolve the matter with Sun Yao’s family, his fear diminished somewhat, replaced by gratitude. Later, upon learning Tang Yiyi was pregnant, he felt more compassion.

He didn’t know the child’s father and didn’t dare ask. But he could see that Tang Yiyi’s age was quite young, probably barely an adult, and he had never heard of such a young superpower user being pregnant! He wasn’t foolish, quickly realizing Tang Yiyi’s identity was more complex than he’d initially thought!

His mind was a mess with wild guesses, and as his speculations grew, so did his sympathy for Tang Yiyi, thereby making him more attentive in his care—almost treating her like a younger sister, fearing that she might feel uncomfortable even a bit. So after finishing the cleaning once, he still felt uneasy, grabbing a cleaner to redo the corners.

He was busy when suddenly he caught a faint, tantalizing aroma. The scent was unfamiliar, one he’d never smelled before, yet his stimulated brain instantly identified it as food! Sun Jian instinctively gulped, his nose twitching as he followed the scent to its source, soon finding the target—but silently stared at the closed kitchen door.

The kitchen door was firmly shut but not completely airtight. The scent leaked through narrow cracks, intermittent and elusive, making it all the more mouthwatering and irresistible. Before his parents died, the family occasionally bought ordinary ingredients to cook. However, his parents’ culinary skills were quite average, their dishes edible but ordinary in taste.

After his parents’ deaths, he was constantly pressured by his uncle’s family, leaving him with little credit points from his earnings, relying on nutrient meal boxes for food. After being gravely injured, his life worsened, surviving on paltry nutrient pills. The tempting aroma from the kitchen hit Sun Jian harder than anything. He had had no expectations but now found himself obsessively staring at the kitchen door, itching to rush in.

As he hesitated, a sudden flash of white darted towards the kitchen door, followed by a "bang" as it collided with the shut door, bouncing off onto the floor. Sun Jian looked at the husky puppy scrambling up, shaking its head, and silently took a step back.

He had bathed and disinfected the husky puppy; cleaned up, it looked cute and handsome, but its nasty temper made him want to smack it! Seeing its fur bristle one by one—a sign of anger—Sun Jian quickly retreated a few more steps; bothered it as little as possible!

The husky glared at the closed kitchen door for a while, then its black claw tips visibly extended. Pleased with its new look, it majestically strutted to the front of the kitchen door, swiping at the ’obstacle’ in front!
