Chapter 303 - 270 Kumogi Playing Base Wars Part 2
Kumogi Continues Base Wars ,he barely had time to recover from the adrenaline rush of his first game before the next match loaded. His team, the Neo-Tokio Cyber Sluggers, had narrowly defeated the U-Roma Galactic Gladiators in a heated match filled with intense plays, brutal brawls, and strategic upgrades. Now, he was up against the SEOLZ Mecha Mavericks, a team notorious for its aggressive playstyle and heavily armed robots.
Kumogi took a deep breath. "Alright, let's see what these guys have got."
The game kicked off, and from the first inning, it was clear that SEOLZ was no joke. Their Tank Bot pitcher hurled high-speed curveballs with almost pinpoint precision, making it extremely difficult for Kumogi's batters to get a clean hit. His first batter, an Android Bot, swung too early and missed completely. The second batter, a Fly Bot, managed to make contact, but the ball was caught instantly by a towering Muscle Bot in the outfield.
"Damn it, these guys aren't messing around!" Kumogi gritted his teeth as his third batter stepped up.
This time, he had his Motorcycle Bot at the plate, counting on its agility. The Tank Bot pitcher launched a fastball, and at the last second, Kumogi had his batter perform a last-minute bunt. The ball rolled just enough to force the catcher to move, and his Motorcycle Bot dashed toward first base at lightning speed.

"Yes! Safe!" Kumogi cheered, pumping his fist.
The next few innings were a battle of attrition. Every base steal attempt resulted in a brutal showdown, and Kumogi quickly learned that SEOLZ's melee fighters were relentless. His Android Bot barely survived a skirmish against their Melee Bot, winning by a sliver of health after landing a desperate shotgun blast. The combat system kept him on edge; he had to anticipate enemy attacks while also managing stamina and cooldowns for special moves.
By the bottom of the fifth inning, the score was tied 2-2. Kumogi knew he needed to switch up his tactics. He accessed his team customization screen and decided to invest in a few mid-game upgrades. His Motorcycle Bot was given a speed chip upgrade, and his Tank Bot received enhanced armor plating.
The real test came in the seventh inning when SEOLZ had a runner on third and their best batter at the plate. Kumogi's heart pounded as he selected his Android Bot to pitch. The first throw was a fastball—strike! The second was a change-up—foul ball. The tension was palpable as he prepared for the final pitch. Instead of a traditional throw, he initiated a special move—an energy-charged curveball that distorted slightly mid-air one of Muscle Bot Special Throw. The enemy batter miscalculated and swung too soon.
"Strike three! You're out!" The announcer's pixelated text boomed across the screen.
"Let's go!" Kumogi shouted in excitement.
In the final inning, the match reached its climax. With one runner on second and one out, Kumogi's last batter—his upgraded Android Bot—stepped up. SEOLZ's Tank Bot pitcher hurled a near-impossible-to-hit fastball, but Kumogi anticipated it. With a perfectly timed swing, his Android Bot crushed the ball into deep right field.
"Come on, come on!" Kumogi leaned forward as his runner sped toward home plate. The SEOLZ outfielder threw the ball with insane accuracy. The game initiated a slow-motion moment as Kumogi's runner and the catcher prepared to collide at home plate.
The screen shifted to combat mode—one final fight to decide the game.
Kumogi's Motorcycle Bot versus SEOLZ's Tank Bot.
"Oh, crap, this is gonna be tough!" Kumogi muttered.
The Tank Bot swung first, launching a heavy punch that Kumogi barely dodged. He retaliated with a quick flurry of strikes, but they barely dented the heavily-armored opponent. Thinking fast, he executed a Z-man combo—dodging backward, charging his Laser Rifle, and unleashing a devastating mid-air shot. The blast struck the Tank Bot directly in the chest, sending it flying backward.
The Tank Bot, however, wasn't finished yet. As sparks erupted from its damaged plating, it retaliated with a desperate charge, slamming into Kumogi's Motorcycle Bot with full force. Kumogi's bot barely managed to stay upright. The fight raged on, both sides exchanging blows, until Kumogi spotted a brief opening. He switched strategies, using his bot's superior agility to weave around the Tank Bot's sluggish swings before unleashing a rapid series of precise strikes.
Finally, with a final charged shot, the Tank Bot's system overloaded, and it collapsed in defeat.
"KO! Safe! Neo-Tokio wins!" The announcer's 8 bit text out as the stadium erupted in pixelated cheers.
Kumogi collapsed back onto his chair, exhaling heavily. "That was insane... I think I need a break."
Despite his exhaustion, he couldn't shake the grin from his face. Base Wars had proven to be one of the most exhilarating sports games he had ever played. But he knew this was only the beginning. With more teams to challenge, tougher AI to outsmart, and new strategies to discover, he was far from done.
As the next match loaded, he cracked his knuckles. "Alright... who's next?"
Kumogi barely had time to catch his breath before the next game began. His team, the Neo-Tokio Cyber Sluggers, was now facing the dreaded Phariz Empire Void Vipers, a team that had a lot of Tank Bot in it. The game was already proving to be a slugfest, with both teams refusing to give an inch. After eight grueling innings, the score was tied 3-3, leading to a high-pressure final inning that would determine the winner.
Neo-Tokio was up to bat. Kumogi clenched the controller, his hands slightly sweaty from the tension. His first batter, an Android Bot, managed to make it to first base with a well-placed hit. The second batter, a Fly Bot, barely avoided being struck out but was thrown out at first after a weak grounder. With one out and a runner on base, it was time for his third batter to step up.
It was his Melee Bot's turn.
Kumogi grinned. The Melee Bot had the highest attack power but was often overlooked for its lack of speed. However, The Melee bot specialty is Battering balls and if he could time his swing right, this might be his best chance to break the tie.
The Void Vipers' pitcher, a Tank Bot, wound up, and Kumogi braced himself. The first pitch was a blistering fastball. He swung too early—strike one. The second pitch was a deceptive curveball that just clipped the edge of the strike zone. Strike two.
"Damn it, come on," Kumogi muttered, shaking his head.
The crowd in the game roared in 8 bits, sensing the tension. The pitcher wound up for the third pitch, a high-speed fastball aimed straight down the middle. Kumogi's Melee Bot took a massive swing.
CRACK!
The sound of metal meeting metal echoed through the virtual stadium. The ball rocketed into the sky, soaring higher and higher until it vanished into the upper atmosphere.
Kumogi's jaw dropped. "No way... did I just—?"
The screen flashed with a special animation. The camera followed the ball as it continued to ascend, eventually leaving the planet's atmosphere and hurtling into space. The words "GALACTIC HOME RUN!" flashed across the screen in massive, glowing letters.
The in-game announcer screamed in text, "UNBELIEVABLE! THE BALL HAS LEFT THE PLANET!"
Kumogi nearly dropped his controller. His teammates' bots automatically rounded the bases, scoring the winning run with ease. The Neo-Tokio Cyber Sluggers had secured their victory in the most ridiculous, over-the-top fashion possible.
As the post-game stats loaded, Kumogi was still in shock. "I just hit a home run... into outer space... This is officially the greatest baseball game ever."
He leaned back, laughing to himself. If this was just one of the wild moments Base Wars had to offer, he couldn't wait to see what else was in store and he can`t wait to play this together with his Bakudan pals.
Ohh, and he found Zabo-man , he sometimes appears as a random Bot in the enemy team!, and when Kumogi won the league for the first time , he unlocked the Z-Team! , a team with a bunch of bots that resembled Zabo-man!.
