Chapter 273 - 243 Yugo Game on Progress and Hamazou Household
Thursday 24 March 1992
Yugo grinned from ear to ear, unable to contain his excitement. His boss, Zaboru, was actively helping him refine his game, taking Koro-Cool's gameplay to a whole new level. Every suggestion Zaboru made added something fresh, something dynamic. They had already spent hours discussing the mechanics, polishing the movement, and ensuring that every combat encounter felt fluid and rewarding. Yugo had never invested in a project before, and Zaboru's enthusiasm only fueled his determination to make Koro-Cool one of the best platformers on ZEPS.
"So, Yugo, what do you think about the eight different weapon types I recommended?"
Yugo's eyes lit up, practically sparkling with excitement. "That's so cool, Boss! It really enhances the gameplay and gives players so much variety! They won't just be stuck with a single weapon throughout the game—they can actually experiment with different styles!"
Zaboru had developed a system where Koro-Cool's arms could switch between eight distinct weapon types, each with a unique playstyle:
Normal Sword-Arms: Dual swords for balanced combat.
Crab Arms: Large, claw-like appendages for gripping and crushing.
Sting Arms: Thrusting spear-like weapons for quick precision strikes.
Knuckle Arms: Pure brute force, allowing devastating punches.
Rope Arms: Flexible, whip-like extensions for long-range attacks.
Chainsaw Arms: Serrated mechanical arms designed to shred through enemies.
Hammer Arms: Heavy, crushing power capable of breaking defenses.
Alien Arms: Mysterious, tentacle-like appendages with unpredictable movement.
"And on top of that," Zaboru continued, "each weapon can have an orb embedded in it, altering its basic attack with elemental effects. Fire, electricity, ice—you name it."
Yugo was practically vibrating with excitement. "Boss! Please help me design the levels, too! I want to make each weapon feel useful in different scenarios."
Zaboru chuckled and nodded. "Alright, but we also need to refine the bosses and enhance the game's story. It needs more depth. A great game isn't just about gameplay—it's about making people feel connected to the world."
Yugo scratched the back of his head. "Boss, I'm struggling with that part... I never thought that far ahead."
Zaboru smirked. "Don't worry, I'll handle it—but your salary's getting cut, okay?"
Yugo's face paled. "Yes, Boss-sama! I don't even care as long as the game is great!"
Zaboru sighed, shaking his head. "I was joking, Yugo. Relax."
With that, Zaboru, Yugo, and the ZAGE development team buckled down, working tirelessly to refine Koro-Cool and perfect the rest of the company's April game releases. The more they worked, the more it became clear—this game had the potential to be something truly special.
Later that evening, at the Hamazou household, the entire family gathered around the table for dinner. The tension in the air was palpable. Ayumi sat between her older brother, Akechi, and her grandfather, Azai Hamazou. She ate in silence, her mind made up. Then, without hesitation, she spoke up.
"I want to quit college."
The sound of chopsticks clattering against the table echoed through the room. Akira's grip on his utensils tightened, his jaw locking in barely restrained fury. His wife, Kyoko and Ayumi's mother, immediately turned to her daughter with concern. "Why, sweetheart?" she asked softly.
Ayumi's eyes darkened. "Because I don't care what you want for me anymore." Her voice was steady, unwavering. "I have done everything you asked. I went to college because you told me to, even though I never wanted to. And after all that, my boyfriend still got attacked and beaten—for no reason. He's not some useless junk like Asumi-nee's boyfriends. He's one of the youngest CEOs in Japan, a man with a bright future, and even Nii-sama acknowledges him. But that didn't stop you, did it, Father? You still had to test him, humiliate him, try to break him. And worst of all, he didn`t give up on you right?"
Akira's face darkened, but he didn't interrupt.
Ayumi took a deep breath. "So listen carefully. You cannot stop me. If you try, I will leave this family. And if you attempt to force me to stay, I'll end my life. Easy as that."
The silence that followed was suffocating. Even Asumi, who normally teased and played around, felt the weight of Ayumi's words. Akira's face fell, his anger crumbling away. He let out a deep sigh, his voice losing its edge. "Just do as you wish." His eyes met Ayumi's, filled with something that could almost be regret. "I swear on my honor, I will never interfere with your relationship again. That boy... I can't deny it any longer. He is capable of protecting you , and he is worthy i acknowledge him"
Akechi smirked, crossing his arms. "So, Ayumi, does this mean you're going to work with me?"
Ayumi gave a small smile and nodded. "Yes, Nii-sama. I hope I can work alongside you. I already have ideas for a new game, and Zaboru has confirmed its potential."

Akechi leaned back in his chair, clearly impressed. "Heh, I'm looking forward to it."
Meanwhile, Asumi pouted dramatically. "Hey! You two are teaming up without me! Ake-ni, you need to hire me too!"
Akechi raised an eyebrow. "Nope. You're useless."
Asumi let out an exaggerated gasp before launching into a playful argument with her brother, breaking some of the tension in the room. But despite the banter, the atmosphere had shifted. Ayumi had drawn a clear line, and for the first time, Akira had chosen to step back.
Change was coming to the Hamazou household, whether they were ready for it or not.
