Chapter 59: Start of the exams

"Young master William, I’ve gotten the list you asked for," the cloaked man said and handed the list to the boy.

"This list contains the information of everyone that can pose a serious threat to you dominating the exams tomorrow," the man said.

"Hmm, thank you, you’ve done well," William spoke, still keeping up the mysterious outlook. He pulled out a pouch from his storage ring and nonchalantly handed it to the man.

"The work you have done for me, no one can know," he said.

The cloaked man collected the pouch and nodded.

’As if anyone would find this information useful,’ he said in his mind before walking out, leaving William seated on the chair.

Immediately he shut the door and stood outside, he pulled off the cloak, "I have to stop working with weird nobles," he muttered under his breath.

[.....]

The day had finally come, the entire town woke up in a buzz, there was no quiet, and all because the exams were going to be held today at the dungeon.

Owing to the information, all participants had to be up and ready before noon, when the exams would start. Everyone was to meet at the dungeon gate, there was no limit to who could participate in the exams, aside from age.

Riven and Noel sat at the dining table with everyone, eating like nothing bothered them. Their father stared at them for a bit before speaking.

"You both don’t seem anxious for the exams, are you that confident in your abilities?" he asked.

Riven glanced up but didn’t say anything. Noel also paused eating, he looked at his father and spoke, "I think we are both nervous and anxious, but it’s not showing in the form of a panic.

I’ve been thinking of the best way to go into the exams since I woke up, but I’ve got nothing since we will know nothing about the exam until we go there," Noel said.

"There will be a thousand people our age, Dad, and at the end of the day, only two hundred will be allowed into the academy. It’s a very scary prospect, but there’s no use worrying about it now," Riven said. He placed his fork down and looked at his father.

"First and second brother already have the paths that they want to follow, Noel is already a prodigy, I feel like this has made for even more pressure for me who is yet to show anything," he continued.

"Riven, don’t speak like that, you are all wonderful, you, your brothers, and your sister," his mother said.

"Your mother is right. Riven Von Grave is a unique person, and he has shown that to us recently. I believe that the exam will be a breeze for the both of you.

But my final advice is: watch those close to you very carefully. Nobles are the most manipulative people that you will meet, and they will try their best to put you in as much trouble as possible. Stay clear of them," their father said.

Noel and Riven nodded in agreement. They knew their father was trying to look out for them, but was it truly possible for them to avoid nobles?

After breakfast, the both of them got everything that they needed into their storage and put on their full armors.

Riven looked at himself in the mirror. He liked the fit of this new armor. It was as flexible and light as the first one, but it was made with better materials and modified by Dark.

He placed Twilight by his side and graced out of the house where Noel was already waiting beside a carriage.

"Took you long enough," Noel said.

Riven walked into the carriage and Noel followed him. They sat down opposite each other. Riven immediately slumped into the chair, allowing himself to relax.

The coachman began the ride to the dungeon. As soon as they hit the town, they could see dozens of carriages rolling out and a lot of young people heading toward the gates of the town.

The journey took a while because of the traffic, but they finally arrived near the dungeon, the place that the Academy allowed for people to park carriages.

Riven and Noel came down from the carriage. The dungeon was not too far off anymore, so they began heading towards it.

They saw other kids their age also headed there, some dressed in armor, some walking bare, only their weapon in hand. They also saw quite a few with magical staves wearing mages’ robes as well.

But amongst all this, two people caught their attention—two elves, a boy and a girl, both with beautiful white hair and silver eyes. Their skin was beautiful and pale.

The both of them wore an odd garment. It looked like something traditional or from their home. It was a black coat with silver designs all over.

They walked apart from everyone, not allowing themselves to mix.

"Those two, they are the twin silver elves prodigies," Riche muttered as he watched them.

In the Royal Academy, some races that were connected to the kingdom in some way also sent their young ones to the academy. The silver twins were prodigies that aided the hero in fighting off the first boss of the first volume of the series.

The both of them were powerful enough on their own, but when they worked together, their cooperation was beyond this world.

’To think I’ll meet with the twins so early, this is about to get fun,’ Riven said as he kept walking. After a few minutes of walking, they all made it to the dungeon, where hundreds of young kids had already gathered.

But on reaching there, there was one thing that was blatantly obvious right off the bat—the nobles gathered to one end, and the commoners to the other end, and no one crossed.

"You have to be kidding me," Riven said.

"You seriously thought nobles would allow themselves to mix with commoners?" Noel asked and walked toward the nobles.

Riven also faced there, but immediately, he spotted three figures that wouldn’t be happy to see him.
