Chapter 164: Four armed ape

Riven made his way deeper into the forest, but he didn’t spot any beast for a bit. Then suddenly, he felt a presence. It moved fast through the trees, so fast that he could barely keep up. His eyes kept darting around, trying to catch a glimpse of what was moving, but he couldn’t get it. Then, out of nowhere, a figure shot out. freewёbnoνel.com

Riven reacted quickly, dodging at the last moment. He rolled out of the way. The figure hit the ground with a bang. Riven got on his feet quickly, his gaze locked on the figure.

It was a black, four-armed monkey with blue eyes, marked with a rank E. The monkey locked onto Riven the moment it touched the ground and immediately lunged forward, using all four arms and its legs to run, moving so fast it was a blur.

It leaped into the air, rolled into a ball, and headed for Riven to slam into him. Riven immediately used Twilight. She blocked the monkey. He was thrown back a few feet but stabilized quickly.

The monkey didn’t stop. It touched the ground, and as if it were gliding, shot forward again with the same attack. It slammed into Riven’s sword again and was knocked back.

But Riven didn’t let it go this second time. He pushed forward, attacking at full speed, his blade cutting through the air. The monkey reacted as fast as it could, twisting its body mid-air to dodge the attack. It managed to survive, but the sword dug into its skin and drew blood.

The monkey landed on the ground and tried to retreat, but Riven released a flame arc and cut the monkey’s legs clean off. It collapsed to the ground, and then he walked over and finished the kill with a stab. He watched as the husk burst into light, and his points rose to fifty.

He was about to walk away, but then several blue eyes opened around the forest.

"Oh shit," Riven cursed.

The monkeys lunged at him. Riven immediately raised a flame wall right before the first ones hit.

The monkeys slammed into the flame wall. The fire burned hot.

Screeeeech.

The ones that hit the wall screamed in pain, scurrying away as the flames burned into their bodies.

Some came from the back, turning into a ball and attacking. Riven immediately used Flame Blast. They were very close. The flames slammed into one of the monkeys and exploded, destroying it and wounding the monkeys around it.

Without missing a beat, Riven lunged forward, sword in hand, burning bright with blue flames. A monkey attacked, and he cut it down before it could get to him.

They rushed at him from all sides, trying to pin him down, but Riven moved too fast. He manipulated his flames very fast and precisely, burning through the monkeys.

After a few minutes of unrelenting attacks, he finally dealt with all the monkeys. Their bodies fell to the ground and burst into light. His points quickly rose to four hundred.

He looked around to see if there were any more beasts, but there weren’t. Well, that was what he thought, because as he made his way to keep moving, a loud screech filled the air, and then a shadow was cast over him.

He looked up and saw a massive, four-armed ape coming down. Immediately, he rolled out of the way. The ape slammed into the ground and formed a small crater.

He looked up at the ape and saw a C above its head.

"A C-ranked, huh? This should be fun," Riven thought. He got on his feet, looking at the six-foot-tall creature, his hand gripping his blade, ready to go.

The ape didn’t waste any time. It lunged forward, and despite its size, it moved fast. Riven charged forward. The ape threw a punch, and Riven attacked with a slash. The blade of the sword dug into the fist, cutting deep.

The ape roared and pulled the arm back before throwing another punch. Riven leaped back and dodged the blow. His feet touched the ground, and he pressed forward again, thrusting fast.

The ape reacted as fast as it could, moving back and trying to grab the sword. The sword cut through its hands, but it was not able to reach the ape.

Riven didn’t mind though. He smiled and attacked again, pushing the ape back. He went into a flurry of attacks, forcing the ape to retreat.

The ape tried to counter, but Riven dodged the attack and pushed in closer with another strike, releasing a sword arc at close range.

The attack hit the ape point-blank and knocked it back a few feet and down to the ground. The ape roared in pain but didn’t stay down for long. It slammed its fists into the ground and charged again, this time more aggressively. The ground trembled as it ran.

Riven didn’t back away. He ran forward too, blade flaming brighter. Their bodies clashed mid-charge, his sword slamming into the ape’s shoulder while its fist struck his side. Pain flared in his ribs, but he gritted his teeth and twisted his blade deeper.

The ape howled, grabbing him by the arm and trying to throw him, but Riven flared his flames, burning into its flesh, forcing it to release him.

He landed on one knee, coughing, then rolled to the side just before the ape’s massive foot came crashing down.

Riven jumped up and struck again, this time aiming at the legs. The ape jumped back and swung its arm like a hammer. Riven blocked with his sword, but the impact sent him sliding back a few feet.

He steadied himself and rushed back in.

They traded blows again—steel and flesh, fire and fury. Riven’s blade burned hotter. The ape’s rage boiled stronger. Neither of them held back now.

But there was still a bright smile on Riven’s face as he fought, like he enjoyed it, the smile on his face was the proof.
