An Extra's POV: My Three Fiancees Hate Me-Chapter 156: Burn your heart
Chapter 156: Burn your heart
Luke hurled the fireball at them without thinking twice, and before the guards could even react, the heat melted them. Only the leader of the guards there was left standing because he had used mana to shield himself at the right moment.
He looked around and saw the melted bodies of his partners—rage, sadness, fear—it all filled his heart. He gritted his teeth, looked Luke right in the eye.
"If I go down, I go down in a blaze of honor. As a Royal Guard of Vermillion, my flames will burn like the flames of the Phoenix," the man roared. It was a chant, a chant said by knights who were about to sacrifice themselves for the kingdom.
And when those words left their mouth, it meant there was no turning back for them. This Royal Guard understood that, and he understood the gravity of the situation he was in. He was alone, the last man standing between Luke and the civilians.
His solemn duty was to ensure the safety of Vermillion. The majority ran forward, his sword erupted in a bright red flame—a flame so hot it began to burn him.
He leaped into the air and slashed at Luke. Luke attacked the man with tendrils; three shot through the air and headed for the man. He gritted his teeth and blocked the first and second, but the third wrapped around his leg and began twirling him around.
Blood rushed to his head, but he refused to stop. Not here, not now. He slashed the tendril; he was lunged through the air and slammed into a building, breaking through the wall.
"You believe you can stop me? I’ll make you suffer for that," Luke said. Tendrils chased after the man into the building. He got on his feet and saw four tendrils coming for him.
He disregarded his bleeding mouth, his aching body, his fuzzy head, and he slashed—he slashed and he slashed. He blocked all the tendrils, his sword erupted in flames, and then he gave one more slash.
Booom
The flames burnt all the tendrils and went ahead to blast the wall. The guard walked out, his arms and face covered in burns from his own flames, but he didn’t stop; he charged forward again.
"Arghhhh, why is an ant like you trying so much?" Luke yelled. He stretched out his hands, and multiple tendrils shot at the guard.
The guard dodged and blocked the tendrils. Some dug into his shoulders, blood splattered, but he didn’t stop. He gritted his teeth and pushed.
The flames on his sword burned even brighter. He finally got to Luke and slashed.
"Stay away!" Luke roared, and a tendril shot out of his chest and wrapped around the guard before he could get to him.
"Hahahaha, hahahaha! You believed you could stop me? Never. I’ll have all your strength now—at least your resolve was useful," Luke said. The tendril began absorbing the life of the guard.
The guard struggled, not wanting to give up here. He kept pushing, but nothing was working.
"Give it up. Your end has come," Luke said.
"No, your end has come," the man said. He erupted his mana core in that moment. His mana surged, immediately turning chaotic.
The guard smiled. "Give your heart and burn like the Phoenix," he muttered before his mana exploded.
Boooooooom
An explosion happened, destroying a good hundred meters radius. The flames reached high into the sky, and debris flew everywhere.
As the flames died down, Luke’s body was tossed through the smoke and dust. Covered in deep burns, one of his legs had gone missing, half of his face was gone, and the rest of his body was a complete mess.
"Arghhhhhhhhhhhh, bloody bastard!" he roared in pain, his rage reaching an all-time high. He wished he could access the underworld and find the Royal Guard that did this to him and ensure he killed him.
"How dare he? How dare he? Who destroys himself just to kill someone—and with a smile on his face? Curse you, curse you! "Luke roared.
The pain he felt now was extreme. He felt as if the world was coming down on him. But after a minute, the wounds began healing on their own. They healed up entirely, as if nothing had ever happened—except all his clothes were almost gone. The ones that remained hung on his body loosely as rags.
Luke got back on his feet. He tilted his head and looked into the sky. "When I finish killing that Riven and Noel, I’ll come back and kill all of you because of what this guard has done to me."
As he spoke, a troop of over fifty knights rushed to the scene, and when they saw him there, their captain raised his hand to signal everyone to stop. He didn’t want to rush in carelessly.
Luke looked down and saw the knights. A smirk formed on his face. He would take out his anger on them. But then he heard flapping, and a large shadow covered him.
He looked up and saw the ship from the academy passing over, and right in that moment, he felt Noel and Riven there.
He had become so obsessed with wanting them dead that he could tell they were in that ship.
"Hahahah, finally," he said and turned and started running, leaping from house to house.
"Don’t let him get away!" the captain roared, but it was already too late because Luke had vanished out of sight.
"Send word. Lock down the capital and tell the Royal Academy to be careful—someone is after their students right now," the captain said, and one of the knights moved out of the formation to deliver the message.
"As for the rest of us, we are searching for that man. We cannot allow him to roam free at all. If it means killing yourself, do it—for the sake of the flames that burn in your hearts for Vermillion!" the captain roared.
"Harrghhhhhhhhhh!" the knights roared in response and moved out.
