America 1982-Chapter 560 - 116: Black Elite Martin_2
Tommy didn’t rush to clear up Martin’s confusion but instead took the bath towel handed to him by the maid and wiped his wet hair. His mother-in-law had originally given all the villa’s domestic workers a long vacation, instructing Tommy to hire his own temporary workers to take care of him during the holiday. However, Tommy chose to have the old household staff stay on, not wanting his mother-in-law to think he would actually use the villa to engage in unspeakable affairs with other girls. He couldn’t do such a thing—living in a villa provided by his mother-in-law while sleeping with other women behind her and Odelia’s back.
Even if he needed to satisfy certain needs, he would go to the Four Seasons Hotel, book a suite, and slowly select high-class ladies, maintaining the most basic respect for his mother-in-law’s family.
Only after sitting on the sun lounger and having his hair dried by the maid with a hairdryer did Tommy look at Martin with a glass of wine to aid sleep, "Jeff didn’t lie, Martin. Don’t be so nervous. Although it’s true that the Jewish community didn’t donate to his campaign, it’s not wrong to say they thanked them by sending a cheque. I mean, of course, the Jewish community wouldn’t give money to a fool who believes in a flat Earth. But the Jacob Blaustein Institute for the Advancement of Human Rights in New York indeed sent Jeff a cheque. It’s not about politics, so it wasn’t sent to the election office you’re in charge of but to his home mailbox."
"Miss, could I have a cocktail or something? It’d be nice if it had a slightly higher alcohol content; I want to sleep more soundly tonight," Martin first made his drink request to the maid and waited until she was far away, leaving only Page nearby, before continuing to ask Tommy:
"Jeff personally received a cheque from the American Jewish Committee? That sounds more sensational than his campaign committee getting a donation," Martin said.
Gazing at the retreating figure of the maid, Tommy said nonchalantly, "Jeff once helped a Jewish elderly couple and their grandson on Coral Street, and in doing so, ruined his plans for the day—a fundraising event, if you remember?"
Martin’s expression blanked out for two seconds before he nodded, "I remember. I was the one protecting you when that old woman whose son died started shooting, boss. But you don’t seem to remember giving me a raise."
"You protecting me? Impossible. I only remember you kept egging me on, saying Page had betrayed me, and now was our chance to take him out. You said all you needed was my command, and you would take care of Page, that wicked old fellow, for me," Tommy said to Martin with a laugh.
Martin quickly glanced at Page and noticed the old man was still snoozing, leaning on the parasol without a hint of reaching for a stun gun. He let out a sigh of relief, then said to Tommy, "OK, I won’t mention getting a raise, and you don’t bring up what I said about Page that day." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"Deal," Tommy nodded in understanding.
Martin continued, "But what does that Jewish elderly couple have to do with the Jewish Committee? Apart from the Jewish blood in the old woman, there seems to be no connection between them."
Even though Martin had not been working as a campaign manager for long, he had already learned quite a bit about America’s large racial society organizations. After all, those large organizations, much like Tommy’s Crossroads Foundation, were the shadow financiers for some politician or group of politicians, just on a much larger scale than what Tommy and his current operations could handle.
For example, Tommy could only manipulate Jeff Raven, a Miami plumber. But the American Jewish Committee had branches in twenty-five major cities across America and thirteen overseas offices globally. It had established cooperative relations with Jewish communities in every country around the world. The organization was no longer just influencing American political power; it had extended its reach to other countries.
What was the American Jewish Committee’s other name? The Jewish Senate of America, the Global Center for Jewish Advocacy.
Those low-profile American Jewish millionaires continuously donated money to this organization. Then, the high-profile, socially adept Jews would take the forefront to manage the committee, directing the massive funds according to the Jewish millionaires’ wishes. Like the current chairperson, Alfred Moses, a former elite lawyer from a white-shoe firm, chief strategy officer at a global strategy consulting firm under IBM, special legal advisor during President Carter’s tenure, and vice chairman of the board of directors of a Jewish financial company on Wall Street.
Such a large and well-known organization getting involved with a couple of country old-timers? Stop joking; even if that old woman had Jewish ancestry, she would barely catch a glance from that committee.
"That wasn’t a donation cheque; it was a reimbursement cheque, thanking Jeff for helping the Jewish old lady, for speaking out in anger for her, even at the cost of messing up his own rally. The cheque was only for a little over seven hundred dollars. Initially, I was hoping Gina would find a Jewish boyfriend, then use his Jewish status, combined with that incident, to get a cheque and support from the Jewish self-help community in Florida. But Jeff got lucky, Stephen just happened to be there, his family being thoroughly Jewish, and his grandfather had even served as a vice-chairman. So, he made a call to the Jacob Blaustein Institute for Human Rights in New York, explained Jeff’s assistance to the Jewish people, and as the old lady was too poor to repay Jeff, they confirmed her Jewish ancestry and Stephen’s influence. They sent over seven hundred dollars for Jeff, covering the costs of flyers, banners, and labor fees and the likes. That’s the whole story," Tommy explained to Martin.
