Chapter 559: Chapter 116: Black Elite Martin

The subsequent debate came to an end when Eliana Leti attempted to explain to the Cuban-American voters on camera that she was not aware whether the person she helped was involved in the bombing case. Just when everyone thought that Orlando Bosch was the biggest bombshell Jeff had prepared for the evening, Jeff casually dropped a statement at the end of his speech that resonated throughout the broadcasting studio:

"Thank you to the moderator, thank you to all the viewers, thank you to the veterans who have always supported me, thank you to my wife Jessica, who is hurt and in the hospital but still cares for me, thank you to my sister Gina, my kids, and thank them for always being there with me. I will continue to fight for the greatness of the Eighteenth District, uh, and also, thank you to the New York Jacob Blaustein Institute for Human Rights for the check they sent me, thank you, everyone."

The check from the New York Jacob Blaustein Institute for Human Rights was what truly made politicians who were following this debate feel as if a substantial bomb had been detonated.

This foundation is an affiliate of the American Jewish Committee and is jokingly referred to in American politics as the Jewish coin purse. Any politician who speaks out against anti-Semitism and strives for the rights of Jewish people can expect the American Jewish Committee to acknowledge their contribution to human rights – an acknowledgment usually taking the form of a check from their "coin purse," sent their way.

Almost all members of both parties in the American Congress have received their "pocket money" from Jewish people, but usually, you would expect such a gift only after you have your own independent office in Congress and have made public statements sympathetic to Jewish causes. But now, a Miami pipe repairman, who has yet to enter Congress, has received a donation check from the Jewish Committee’s affiliated "coin purse"?

Jeff Raven would not dare to lie about a Jewish organization on camera, meaning the statement that he received a check from the New York Jacob Blaustein Institute for Human Rights must be true. Yet, this did not fit the usual style of Jewish actions. Jewish people do not invest in the likes of Jeff Rush, a puppet manipulated by others who had not yet been officially elected.

In addition, with the revelation that Eliana Leti lobbied for the terrorist Orlando Bosch from Cuba to receive a green card in the United States, almost everyone in Florida’s political scene was pondering the same question. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Just who is Jeff Raven, or rather, who is the hidden player behind his robust frame?

After a tiring evening of finishing all the post-debate procedures with Jeff, including kissing the children of supporters, shaking hands with the biggest donors, giving a short speech, taking group photos, and so on, and after dealing with all the reporters and veteran supporters, Martin didn’t go back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep. Instead, he rushed to meet Tommy.

Truth be told, during his time in Miami, there had been moments when Martin felt he had grasped his boss Tommy’s thoughts, but now he felt that might have been just a one-sided fantasy. The harsh reality was that he knew nothing about his boss Tommy’s strategies.

Tommy was swimming in the pool at the Southern District villa house where his mother-in-law had provided temporary accommodation, while Page was lazily eyeing the surroundings from her perch by a folded-up poolside parasol. When Martin approached her, Page began without any expression, "Colin just called me, asking when Tommy is going to fire that black foster son of his named Martin. Every time Colin calls to chat with me, he mentions you far more often than he does Tommy."

"Besides firing me, do you and my KKK white godfather talk about anything else?" Martin retorted, facing Page without giving in.

"Yes, Colin asked me how much money he should donate to the Florida Police Foundation for them to accidentally kill a black man who embarrassed him," Page answered stiffly.

Martin took two beers from the mini fridge, opened them, and handed one to Page: "Thank you for your honesty and thank Colin’s godfather for his generosity. I thought he would’ve asked how much a plane ticket to fly to Miami costs, and if there was a discount on flights, he might have flown over to pop me personally."

Having been around Page for a while, Martin had grown accustomed to her style of communication. Most of the time, she wasn’t a bad person, or rather, she was only difficult when it came to dealing with him directly. Otherwise, she was easy to get along with—even though her words often seemed cold and vicious, Martin knew that Page didn’t share Colin’s father’s hatred and hostility towards all black people. She simply despised those who caused chaos and violence and refused to comply obediently.

After finishing their beers and watching Tommy climb out of the pool using the handrails, Martin finally put down his beer and spoke, "Boss, the Jewish people didn’t send any donation check to Jeff’s campaign committee. Nobody knows this better than I do. This is a big problem because if by nine o’clock tomorrow morning, reporters confirm with the Jewish Committee in New York, the lie will be immediately exposed. Why did we have Jeff tell a lie?"

Martin had been holding back his question ever since the end of the TV debate, and now he finally voiced it to Tommy, feeling quite patient with himself. After all, his boss had made Jeff tell a huge lie in front of the television cameras!
