Chapter 309: Chapter 18: I’m Just Cutting My Losses_5

Diane Lynn — Tommy had certainly heard of the name. This woman was hugely popular among American teenagers, being one of the four dream lovers of the teenage crowd alongside Jennifer Connelly, Boji Xiaosi, and Phoebe Cates. She had played many roles that left a deep impression on them, and Tommy was clear about one thing at this moment: if Dennis and Pam were to see Diane Lynn, they would surely be too excited to speak.

These two were hardcore fans of Diane Lynn, but their favorite works of hers weren’t the same film.

Pam’s favorite was a 1981 movie titled "Outlaws of the West" (PS: also known as "Escape to the Western World", "The Damsel and the Bandit", a pirated tape I watched in a video rental shop as a kid, which left a strong impression on the two female leads). 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

In that movie, a 16-year-old Diane played the legendary American cowgirl "Little Breeches," who along with her sister "Cowgirl Annie," armed with shotguns, rallied the leaderless mishmash of the Durlin-Dalton gang and eventually broke into the jail to rescue their idol and gang leader Bill Durlin.

Especially at the end of the story, after the successful jailbreak, as they watched Durlin and his gang escape, the two young girls, armed with guns, faced the fiercely approaching police, smiled at each other, threw down their guns, and told the police that they were minors. According to the law, they couldn’t be sent to jail but had to be escorted back to their hometown in Massachusetts to serve time in a reform school, making many American teenagers think these sisters who could shoot their way out of jail and still come out unscathed, then having the nerve to make the cops escort them home, were incredibly cool.

Pam liked Carly, most likely because his girlfriend Carly had that kind of wildness and assertiveness like "Little Breeches."

Dennis became this gal’s diehard fan because of a TV movie titled "Punk Girl." Dennis later specifically bought the tape of this movie where Diane Lynn was the absolute star, playing the 17-year-old lead singer of a women’s punk band. With her exaggerated, radical punk fashion and "never back down, never extinguish" songwriting, she successfully conquered Dennis, the punk enthusiast.

This damn guy had, on several occasions, jerked off to a Diane Lynn poster in front of Tommy and Pam.

Thanks to Dennis and Pam, Tommy had watched both of these movies, and he had to admit that while Diane Lynn wasn’t worth seven hundred thousand in his eyes, she was indeed a beauty.

Before entering his room, Tommy first took out a cigarette and lit it up, took a puff to calm his nerves, then took out his key card and swiped open the door to his room.

In the living room, a woman stood with her back to the door, making a phone call using the room’s phone. Hearing the door, she quickly turned around, revealing a somewhat nervous pretty face.

"There’s no need to doubt, I’m the sucker who’s paying seventy thousand for a one-night stand," Tommy stood at the door, not rushing in, but instead spread his arms open jokingly towards the woman:

"Also, I’ll be the one paying for this room’s phone bill in the end. You should be making internal calls, and if it’s a long-distance call, please pay for it yourself."

The twenty-two-year-old Diane Lynn told the person on the other end of the phone, "I’ll call you back."

She then hung up and eyed Tommy Hawk with suspicion. "I asked the lady to arrange for me a mature guest — the kind that’s around fifty or sixty years old, someone who’d be heartened but powerless by a little flirtation. You clearly do not fit the mature profile. You look to be only a few years older than me, so you’re here under your father’s name...?"

"My old man doesn’t fancy this sort of thing, and tonight the oldest among us is Mr. Page, my bodyguard. But asking me to spend seventy thousand to entertain a woman for his sake is a bit too much to ask. Besides, I bet his stamina is better than most young folks here tonight. He can bench press 180 pounds, something the other young people can’t claim." Tommy leaned against the doorframe, evaluating Diane and speaking with some difficulty:

"Indeed, I am the relatively mature one amongst us all; for instance, I am currently trying to have a mature conversation with you, which might be a bit embarrassing, but I still want to say that I don’t have to sleep with you tonight. You just need to be my date for the evening, give those fools at the party a little shock, a little surprise. After the party, there is no need to return to the room; you can fly straight back to Hollywood. However, as a condition for not touching you, could you give me back sixty-five thousand? Two hours of normal social interaction at a party shouldn’t cost seventy thousand — that’s too extravagant. I’ve heard that Hollywood actresses get only $500 for making a guest appearance on a talk show, so I’m offering ten thousand, which is a hundred times a talk show appearance fee."

Upon hearing Tommy immediately trying to cancel the deal upon their meeting, Diane Lynn couldn’t help but glance at the phone and then back at Tommy: "We obviously have different definitions of maturity. I was hoping for generosity, while what you’re displaying now is stinginess."

"Apart from those wealthy Middle Eastern clients, the only fool among the lady’s clients with that trait is a guy called Stephen, and I don’t aspire to that trait. I’m broke," Tommy earnestly said:

"Please, you don’t want to sleep with a stranger either; that’ll leave you regretful for the rest of your life. Selling your body is not noble; unless absolutely necessary, you really shouldn’t..."
