America 1982-Chapter 294 - 14: Saving Her_5
"Violence, money, the rights of black people, the humiliation by whites—these elements combined, and I didn’t think of a B-movie; instead, I thought of a black version of ’The Godfather.’ If black people have a need, we should provide what they want to see. Seeing Martin in his outfit, I’ve even come up with a name for this black-specific series." Tommy looked at everyone:
"’Nigger Boss,’ I mean no harm, Er, Martin—you two—I’m just stating the name of the series."
Seeing that Martin and Er didn’t object to this choice of words, Tommy continued to speak, "For instance, design a city of crime, like Compton, where the black community can barely survive, blaming all of its rampant crime rate, dangerous living conditions, and other issues on the white mayor, the white police chief, and even the white firefighters. Our protagonist is the black godfather. If someone bullies his own people, he will help his community resolve their trouble. At the same time, bad white guys will conspire with some bad black guys, wanting to get rid of this thorn in their side. That’s the rough idea—paint the black Boss as a perfect image for black Americans. Although reduced to gang life due to the government’s depriving them of educational rights, he hasn’t given up on himself. He has his own code of conduct, a line he won’t cross, unlike those lineless whites. So, he will wage war against whites on television, will conquer white women, will take corrupt white officials’ wealth and distribute it to the black community, ultimately becoming the king of Compton. What do you think, would the three associations make a fuss over this?"
"The gimmick isn’t bad. Honestly, ever since ’The Godfather’ came out, all the big-time gangsters in movies and TV for the past decade have been Italian. I’d actually like to see a black godfather emerge. But to be honest, if it has potential, it’ll definitely cause trouble. The black higher-ups from the three associations receive donations from other television stations, and then they’ll come out and accuse BT Television... That’s normal because I often stir up such issues," Sean said after listening, nodding his head.
Tommy looked at Sean, "So, what you’re saying is, to prevent them from being critical, we need to wrap this black series in a garment of great justice."
"I have an idea. In 1984, at the Miss America pageant, the first black winner in history emerged. But her victory was immediately revoked, and a white woman replaced her as the winner," Er said, looking at Tommy. "She makes a good cover, Vanessa Williams."
"Exactly, her. I’ve heard of this woman’s name," Sean reacted, "Not bad, she’s in trouble right now." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Tommy looked at Er, "You know her?"
"She and her agent approached my firm, hoping we could handle her lawsuit against ’Penthouse.’ But in the end, I didn’t agree, because there was no chance of winning, and that girl didn’t have the money to pay me. She only promised that if we won and she received compensation, she would give me a share," Er explained how he knew her:
"So, having her star in this series, which Hollywood and mainstream television have ostracized, would garner all the sympathy from the black community. To this day, they firmly believe her lost title was a conspiracy by white folks. Getting her to participate in the series, or even using her real experiences as a basis, she was framed by whites, lost the crown, and then sought help from the black godfather, hoping Nigger Boss would bring her justice. It could totally be the main storyline for the first season."
"Sean, Er will give you her contact details. You’re in charge of finding her and her agent," Tommy said decisively after hearing Er’s words:
"This gimmick is good: a mix of reality and fiction. In the series, Nigger Boss saves her; outside the series, BT Television saves her."
