Chapter 282: Chapter 11: The World is So Big, There Are Always Kind People_2

"Any American with a sense of justice would do the right thing regarding your father’s theft of wealth in this country by illegal means." Tommy wagged his finger at him:

"Saving him is the right thing to do, and so is investing in your company, so there’s no conflict between the two. You just need to tell me if you’re willing to consider my investment proposal, instead of maliciously speculating about others. Nobody is looking to trouble your family. I’m just kindly reminding you that he might be in trouble."

"Do I even have a choice?" Derek lowered his head: "Some say Silicon Valley is a developer’s paradise, but clearly, that paradise isn’t meant for us MIT developers."

Jason crushed his cigarette butt: "Three million, for a forty percent stake. I hope this figure doesn’t cause you or your team any distress."

Derek jolted, as if he understood something. He stared hard at Jason, then looked at his companions by his side. At that moment, none of them were willing to exchange glances and share their thoughts as before, only hanging their heads in silence.

Three million wasn’t just a mere investment; it was also a move to push him out of the game.

"Deal?" Jason asked quietly, his gaze calmly meeting the other’s.

"Deal," Derek eventually clenched his fists and lowered his head, having understood from the moment his companions didn’t lift their heads.

"It’s the right decision." Jason neatly fixed his suit and stood up, shook hands with a dejected Derek, then walked out of the meeting room, saying to his secretary who stayed put:

"Billy, you handle the follow-up work. My work for today is done. Don’t bother me anymore, give me some personal space."

Jason walked out of the meeting room, pushed open the door of the small meeting room next door, and stood at the doorway, eyeing Tommy and Sophia inside for a good ten seconds before slowly beginning:

"When are you planning to pay for Sophia’s breast augmentation?"

"Maybe when you stop having to pay for your four bastards’ milk formula? The damned parasites like you are squandering the company’s profits. What am I supposed to use to provide Sophia with employee benefits?" Tommy said with a smile to Jason.

Jason sighed: "Why is it that every time we meet, you manage to fill me with negative emotions instantaneously? F*ck you, Tommy!"

Sophia laughed, looking at Jason whom she hadn’t seen in over half a year, and gave him a warm embrace: "Ignore him, he’s just cranky because Ottelia suddenly went abroad and stood him up."

"This news makes me feel a bit better, thank you, Sophia." Jason’s mood visibly improved upon hearing of Tommy’s misfortune.

Jason still had a stalwart figure, wearing a suit that always seemed one size too small. He came over and firmly gripped Tommy’s neck: "Why can you screw so many women without letting any of them have a baby, while I... I’m not even married, and I have four kids already, each with a different woman?"

"That’s what happens when you don’t carry Trojan with you." Tommy, with Jason’s grip around his neck, said with a laugh.

After horsing around for a bit, Jason finally let go of Tommy, then pointed to the adjacent meeting room: "See? It’s this kind of bullshit every day. That old man, Benjamin Benson, is forcing me to become a villain without scruples. The Japanese have it bad enough, and then I have to intimidate that poor kid."

"Your hooligan act seemed a bit overdone just now, brother. If it were me, I could have made that kid across the table piss himself on the spot," Tommy commented after watching the performance.

Jason bristled at Tommy’s mere suggestion that his acting might be flawed: "My acting is impeccable! Don’t forget, the best adult film performer from Stanford, the Best Male Actor in the California Adult Film Actors Guild is right here. In front of me, no one dares to discuss acting. The whole Silicon Valley knows that."

"Okay, impeccable acting, it’s me who lacks taste. So, can we go now? My girlfriend stood me up, and I traded my precious downtime for a meetup with you and Holly," Tommy saw Jason’s posture ready to grapple again and quickly conceded.

Jason eyed Tommy skeptically: "Based on what I know about you, you don’t seem like someone willing to spend time with me and Holly, especially since Charles told me you’re planning to fly to see him tomorrow. What’s up, you have some free time on your hands lately?"

"The TV station’s core team is assembled; what’s left are some minor preparations before we go on air, which don’t require my personal attention," Tommy stretched out and said.

Jason took two cans of coke out of a corner beverage refrigerator, handed one to Sophia, and pretended to offer the other to Tommy. As Tommy reached for it, Jason pulled it back, took a swig for himself, and said innocently, "Last can. Wasn’t Susan supposed to work at the TV station? Didn’t you have her intern by your side? You sent her to do menial tasks?"

"She does work for the TV station, but not in the TV station," Tommy walked over to the fridge, saw it was indeed devoid of coke, then returned to Sophia’s side, took her can, and took a drink: "Her piggy bank venture isn’t bad, I don’t know why she insisted on coming to the TV station."
