America 1982-Chapter 271 - 7: Boss, You Are a Friend of Black People_3
After all, this butcher even kills black minors, completely devoid of humanity.
The first thing Tommy did after hiring Page was to make a donation to the police force, earning himself the title of Honorary Sheriff of Long Beach. An honorary officer may not be a real cop, but they still have certain obligations and powers, such as stepping in to resolve conflicts when necessary.
"These three black women," Tommy said as he handed over the women’s information to Page, "are trying to extort one hundred thousand dollars from us."
Page took the files with a puzzled look and then glanced at Tommy, "Do you want me to kill them?"
"Oh no, Mr. Page," Tommy laughed upon hearing Page’s words, "how could we possibly do such a thing."
"We established a TV station to give a voice to the black community, didn’t we? How could we possibly go around killing black people? That thought is truly terrifying."
"So, what do you need me to do?" Page also laughed, his skepticism towards Tommy’s initial intentions for founding the TV station quite apparent.
Tommy pulled out a cigarette and offered one to Page, "Nothing much. I’ve had the lawyers drag out the time. I’m hoping that during this period of contact and negotiation, you can find a way to pin some absurd identity on the three women, like being donors or supporters of illegal terrorist organizations such as the Black Pioneer Union or the Black Liberation Army, etc. Then we can accuse them of extortion. Combine the two charges and it’ll be a long vacation in prison for them. They dare to extort Rick, alleging that he harassed them, I need to make them understand that the only way they’ll make money in the second half of their lives is by being harassed by men and even then, they’ll need to keep on smiling. Being linked with black terrorist groups, no TV station would offer them a job."
"We have detailed information on these three women. Maybe we can fabricate a clumsy anonymous donation? As for the recipient, I’d lean towards the New Afrikan Republic, a black terrorist organization that is more radical than the others and acknowledges its supporters more readily. As long as the donation aids their cause, they consider the donor as one of their nationals. However, once they speak out against them, they also find ways to give those who betray their race a harsh lesson," Page said as he accepted the cigarette, mulling over the plan.
Tommy nodded in satisfaction, "That’s a good idea. Just like these three black women want to destroy our TV station, when they try hard to prove their innocence in court, admitting publicly that the New Afrikan Republic is a black terrorist organization, our adversary will ’greet’ them on our behalf." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"Understood. I’ll take care of this as soon as possible," Page said as he picked up the files of the three women and walked out.
Dorothy came over with a glass of juice at this moment, passing it to Page and speaking to Tommy, "Mr. Hawk, your black bodyguard is outside. He wants to talk to you about today’s gains and to convey the thanks of many people to you."
"No need to let him in, tell him to go... forget it, he’s different from the others, let him wait for me in the backyard. He may not enter my living room, but he can go to the backyard," Tommy initially wanted to tell Martin to wait in the dormitory for him, but hesitated and changed it to the outdoor space.
In the backyard, upon seeing his boss smiling as he approached, an excited albeit tired-looking Martin said, "Boss, this has got to be the most meaningful day of my life. Everyone is so grateful to you, it’s real."
"They should be grateful to you, after all, you’re the one who’s giving free haircuts to those lower-class blacks, not me," Tommy said.
"But if you hadn’t paid me a penny, I wouldn’t have gone. I’m not as great as you," Martin said sincerely, "You are a friend to black people, you really should see the smiles on those black faces."
Tommy looked toward Page driving away in the distance, and said reflectively, "There’s still a lot of work for me to earn that grand title."
