Chapter 95: Chapter 95 Mother’s Relic

"Emily, did you have breakfast?" Kings James asked with concern.

"No." Emily replied.

Kings James said to the driver, "Go to the Purple Crystal Restaurant downtown." Then he turned to Emily and said, "Your mother used to go to that restaurant for breakfast, and I’ll show you there."

Emily didn’t speak, and then she heard Kings James say to himself, "But it’s been so long, and I’m not sure if the restaurant is still there."

His head leaned back in his seat, and a trace of sadness crossed his old face inadvertently. His gaze looked out through the glass window, as if he was thinking, as if he was remembering something.

There was a long silence in the car, and the car slowly moved forward, and soon they came to the purple crystal restaurant. However, when Emily and King James stepped out of the car, they saw a sign posted outside the restaurant’s door with the words "closed".

Emily saw some porters in blue moving tables and chairs out of the dining room.

Kings James was standing outside the restaurant, and he watched as two workers were dismantling the restaurant’s sign, so he ordered the driver, "Peter, go see what’s going on."

"Yes, Your Majesty." The driver, dressed in a black suit, immediately walked into the restaurant, and after a few minutes he told the king that the owner of the restaurant had retired and had decided to close it. However, when the owner of the restaurant learned of the king’s arrival, he decided to make the king his last breakfast.

So Kings James and Emily walked into the restaurant, and the workers who had been busy stopped working because of the king’s arrival. In this modest restaurant, there are only two customers, Emily and Kings James.

When the restaurateur brought breakfast to the table, he kept apologizing to Kings James for making only a lemon pie and hot cocoa because there weren’t too many ingredients in the kitchen.

" This lemon pie used to be your mother’s favorite snack." Kings James said as he gently pushed the plate of lemon pie in front of Emily, "You taste it."

Emily looked at the lemon pie in front of her, and then she took her fork and tasted it little by little. It’s sweet and the lemon flavor is fragrant.

As she ate the lemon pie, she imagined her mother sitting in this position, eating the lemon pie gracefully and talking to the people next to her.

So far, all she knows about her mother has come from other people, and she can only try to piece together a figure of her mother through the words of others.

All she needs is a whole, mother-like look. And the man next to her may be the one who knows her mother best.

"Do you like this lemon pie?" King James asked softly.

Emily nodded, "When I was living in the country, Mrs. Bauer, who took care of me, would also make lemon pies for me."

When King James heard this, his eyes were sad. He lamented, "You really resemble your mother. "

After leaving the restaurant, Kings James takes Emily to an apartment, where he tells Emily that it was where her mother once lived and that her mother’s relics are all kept.

Pushing open the door, Emily stepped into the room, a faint scent of roses came to her nose. She looked around, the whole room was spotless, all the furnishings were neat, and there were a few white roses planted on the balcony.

"I ordered that everything here be kept, and that maids come here every day to clean up." King James spoke, his eyes looking at the white roses on the balcony, "Your mother used to love white roses the most, and she used to grow a few white roses on the balcony with her own hands. "

"You used to live here with her, didn’t you?" Emily asked, "You know my mother so well, was she really your mate?"

Kings James sighed, and he nodded, "Yes, she used to be my mate."

Emily was stunned. It turned out that her father was right. Her mother was really Kings James’s mate. So, is it also true about the affair between her mother and Kings James?

Then Kings James pointed to a chair and said to Emily, "Sit down and listen to me."

After Emily sat down, She saw a mixture of emotions in King James’s eyes, and he slowly said to Emily, "When I was a prince, I met my mate, and she is your mother. I love her so much and we had a wonderful time. But then, the royal family encountered a crisis, and my parents, in order to strengthen the royal family’s position, asked me to marry the daughter of another pack of Alpha. I resisted my parents’ decision, but it didn’t work. They even threatened me with your mother’s life. They said that if I didn’t marry that alpha’s daughter, they would put your mother to death. So I had no choice but to refuse your mother and marry another woman. Then your mother married Alpha Robert, and after she got married, we didn’t have any contact with each other."

Kings James paused, then continued, "Until one time, I met your mother at a banquet. Even though she was still so beautiful, I could tell she wasn’t happy. Pressed by me, she told me that Alpha Robert had cheated on her sister. She wanted a divorce, but Alpha Robert disagreed, and she was miserable. Then I drank a lot with her, and we slept together."

Kings James’s face crossed with a trace of guilt, and he sighed heavily, "After a long time, your mother told me not to contact her anymore because she is pregnant and she wants to give her future baby a complete family. So, I didn’t contact her again until I learned that she had died of a difficult birth, and I was in great pain."

Kings James looked sad, he slowly stood up, then took a cardboard box from a drawer and handed it to Emily, "This is all your mother’s relics."

Emily carefully opened the box, and she saw that it contained a picture of her mother, as well as a letter and other household items.

She picked up the old photograph and looked at it closely, showing her mother standing by the sea in a white dress, her face smiling happily.

Oh, she finally saw her mother. She looked so beautiful, so gentle.

Emily holds that picture to her chest and she fantasizes that she is hugging her mother. Tears slowly flowed from the corners of her eyes, and her shoulders trembled slightly from crying.

"Emily, don’t be upset." Kings James caressed Emily’s back and comforted her, "Although your mother has passed away, you still have me, let me take care of you, okay?"

"No." Emily shook her head, "I don’t need your care."

"Emily, I’m sorry for your mother’s death." Kings James said sadly, "But if you are really my daughter, please let me do my duty as a father, okay?"

"Stop. " Emily stood up, her red eyes in her eyes and said to Kings James, "My father has never been in my life, not before, and not now."

Emily’s tone choked up, "Thank you so much for telling me about my mother. I think it’s time to leave."

"Emily, wait." Kings James called out to Emily, and he asked her in a difficult tone, "I want you to do a DNA test with me. I need to confirm if you are my daughter, Emily. It’s important to me."

Emily smiled bitterly at Kings James, "But it doesn’t matter to me. "

She left the room after speaking, and no matter how Kings James called her name behind her, she didn’t stop. Because she was anxious to escape from this sad place, she didn’t want to face the fact that her father was her.

Emily clutched a picture of her mother in her hands as she walked down the street, tears blurring her eyes. It wasn’t until she saw a man standing in front of her that she suddenly stopped.

The man in the black shirt was again, and this time he was standing in front of her, staring at her with those eyes that looked like death.

"Emily." He called her name softly.
