A dark wizard stood as a witness with a wry smile on his ugly face. The dark wizard’s evil, greedy gaze lingered on Emily’s belly for two seconds as Elijah tugged on Emily’s wrist to reach the wizard.

Emily instantly sensed the purpose in the dark wizard’s eyes and glared at him, but he slowly withdrew his gaze as if nothing had happened.

" Start the ceremony." said Elijah, releasing Emilie’s hand.

" Today, we are here to witness——" Elijah interrupted before the dark wizard could finish his sentence.

" Don’t say that crap." Elijah said, " Get right to the most important part."

"Yes, Your Majesty.. " The dark wizard bowed slightly, then cleared his throat, his voice becoming solemn and dignified." Elijah Macon, do you accept Emily Wilson as your first mate? Regardless of the future——"

"Yes, I do. " Elijah replied impatiently.

Then the dark wizard looked at Emily, "Emily Wilson, do you wish to accept Elijah Mckesson as your MATE?"

Emily rolled her eyes. She said no word, but looked at the man before her in silence. Time seemed to stand still for a moment, the air seemed to freeze around her, and only the occasional breath of the blood-scented wind ruffled Emily’s hair and her wedding dress.

That’s when Adam sent her the psychic link. "Emily, don’t accept Elijah." Adam’s voice tore through Emily’s mind, his face contorted with anger and pain." Elijah doesn’t love you.He only wants to rule the South with you. Emily, don’t do anything stupid."

" Emily, What are you hesitating about?" Elijah let out a low growl of rage. When he saw that Emily remained silent, the impatience in his eyes changed in an instant to anger, whereupon Elijah cast a sinister look at the guards, who understood, and instantly rushed upon Adam like a malevolent wolf, kicking him violently in the stomach.

Adam’s body flew backwards like a broken kite, and he sank to his knees. Before he could recover his senses, the guard, with a scowl on his face, slammed the butt of his gun into Adam’s back.

A mouthful of blood spurted from Adam’s mouth and splattered the ground in a blinding shower. Adam’s body shook violently, but he clenched his teeth and forced himself to make no sound, only to stare at Elijah with a hatred-filled gaze.

" Adam! " Emily saw the situation and tried to run over to him recklessly. But she had scarcely taken a step when Elijah seized Emily by the hand and jerked her back to his side.

"If you don’t want him to die right away, you will perform the ritual with me. " Elijah whispered a warning in Emily’s ear, "You know what happens when you anger me."

Emily’s body trembled a little, and her eyes were full of pain and struggle. But presently she forced herself to repress the pain that wrung her heart like a knife, and turned her back decidedly not to look at Adam’s miserable appearance behind her.

I could not hesitate, and Emily clenched her fists in silence.

" Bride, it’s your turn." reminded Emily of the dark wizard. He repeated, " Do you take Elijah Maxon to be your mate?"

The corners of Emily’s mouth twitched slightly and after a moment she finally said the word, " Yes, I do."

"Now, you may MARK the bride. Your Majesty." The dark wizard said, " Once the MARK is successful, you will choose MATE."

Elijah, I will not let you mark me.

Emily looks down and puts her hand on her belly: sorry baby. I was not a good mom, so forgive me.

" Emily, raise your head." said Elijah in a commanding tone.

Emily sighed as she slowly raised her head. As she locked eyes with Elijah, she could clearly see the possessiveness that filled the man’s eyes. It was a craving bordering on insanity, as ravenous and malevolent as the gaze of a hungry wolf upon its prey. It sent a wave of nausea through Emily.

Elijah moved closer to Emily, and then he reached out his hand, long and slender, but cold, and lifted the strands of hair that hung about Emily’s neck to the other side. The distance between them was close, so close that their breaths mingled, and Emily could distinctly hear Elijah’s steady but agitated heartbeat, like a countdown to death, beating in her ears.

Closer, Emily thought to herself, her muscles tensing like a poised cheetah waiting for the perfect moment.

Elijah bowed his head, and Emily sensed his carelessness as his warm nostrils closed upon Emily’s neck. It was now. Emily immediately reveals her wolf claws.

The DARK WIZARD standing aside sensed the danger, and with a shift, he immediately issued a warning, " Be careful, Your Majesty."

Just as Emily’s wolf’s paw was about to pierce Elijah’s heart, a burning white light flashed between Emily and Elijah.

Emily only felt a sharp pain in her wolf’s paw, which was instantly scorched by the white light, as if it had been scorched by a blazing flame, and sent up clouds of blue smoke. At the same moment an invisible and powerful force separated her from Elijah like a wall.

With an unsteady centre of gravity, Emily’s body fell backwards, landing heavily on the ground. Elijah, on the other hand, took a few steps back, the shock of the moment still lingering in his eyes, as he stared at Emily with wide-open, deadpan eyes, as if he could not believe what had just happened.

" You really want to kill me?" Elijah’s voice was angry and incredulous.

" I would rather die with you than marry a demon like you." Emily growled at Elijah.

She was so close to killing Elijah. It was that damned dark wizard. He was the one who had upset her plan.

" Good. " Elijah looked at Emily with an icy gaze," You have consumed the last of my mercy for you. Emily, you will regret this." There was not an ounce of warmth in his voice, every word felt as if it had been squeezed between his teeth, and it was thick with murderous intent.

Elijah then turned his head to the dark wizard, his tone angry and determined, " Sacrifice the baby in her womb to the dark god, now." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

" Yes, Your Majesty." said the dark wizard, with a smirk on his lips.

"Don’t even think about it. " A glint of determination flashed in Emily’s eyes, as she raised her claws and prepared to stab herself, the dark wizard grabbed Emily’s wrists with great speed, his hands were like iron clamps, locking them tightly around Emily, preventing her from committing suicide.

"You can’t die now. " dark wizard said eerily," It’s not too late for you to die after I sacrifice the baby in your belly to the dark god."

" Go to hell you." Emily roared.

"Emily!" Dolly uttered a cry of despair as she rushed at Emily, but Dolly had scarcely taken a few steps when the two guards behind her instantly tackled her to the ground like ghosts.

Elijah glared at Dolly with disgust in his eyes, and without hesitation he ordered the guards, "Kill her!"

One of the guards raises his gun to Dolly’s head and the sound of a bullet piercing the air is heard as Emily yells, "No!"
