Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 208: I Want to Find Myself
South, Palace
In the morning, when Adam came to breakfast with Emily, he broke the news to her that she was about to be crowned princess.
" Princess?" There was a flash of surprise in Emily’s eyes as she silently laid down the fork in her hand.
" If this is my father’s way of making it up to me, I don’t think it’s necessary." Emily said softly, " I am only my father’s illegitimate daughter, not a princess in the true sense of the word. Besides, I never wanted to be a princess."
" But your child needs a legitimate identity." Adam looked at Emily with a calm gaze, " No matter who this baby’s real father is, he is a member of the Wilson family and he will use the Wilson surname."
Emily’s eyes were downcast, as she thought it was time to come clean with Adam about the identity of the baby. So Emily lifted her head and she gathered her courage to say to Adam, "Actually, this baby’s real father is—"
"Stop it, Emily," Adam gently interrupted Emily,"You have the right to keep the identity of the baby’s father a secret. I am sorry I was so impetuous yesterday. I should not have questioned you about the father of the baby. As your brother, I should have done everything I could to protect you and your baby."
Adam’s words ran like a warm current through Emily’s heart. She raised her eyes to Adam and said, "Thank you. Adam."
"Emily, from now on you and your child will live in the palace. No one can hurt you here. " Adam gently held Emily’s hand, "I will guard you and your child with my life."
"Then what’s the difference between me and a caged bird? " Emily gave a bitter smile. There had been a time when Elijah had said something similar to her. Elijah had built her a castle, and wished her to remain in it for ever. But she was a free-flying bird. How could she be willing to spend the rest of her life in a golden cage?
"A palace is not a birdcage, you can still go wherever you want. " Adam explained, "No one will limit your freedom."
" Adam," Emily sighed softly, " I want to leave the palace."
" Why?" Adam looked at Emily with shock, his eyes full of doubt, " You can enjoy the honor of being a princess in the palace, besides, you have your father here, and me. Why would you want to leave?"
"Because it was never meant to be mine. " Emily confessed, "I know I grew up in the countryside, and if my adoptive father hadn’t forced me to go up north to get married, I would still be a country girl. I have grown timid and suspicious since I lost my memory, and I do not like the man I am. If I remain forever under your protection, I shall lose myself altogether. Just as a bird that has been caged for a long time forgets to fly."
Emily paused for a moment as she voiced the decision she had been thinking about all night, "Adam, I’m going back to where I used to live because there are memories of what I used to be. It’s the only way I’ll be able to find myself."
At these words Adam stiffened, and his gaze grew dark. He seemed to find it hard to come to terms with Emily’s decision, and Adam’s eyes were a tangle of emotions.
After a long silence, Adam slowly said, " I can’t bear to see you leave here, but I respect your decision. Remember, this will always be your home and you can come back anytime."
"I will. " Emily smiled, "I’ll miss you and father wherever I am."
" If father knew you were leaving, he would be sad to see you go too." Adam said reluctantly.
" I’ll tell father my decision in person." Emily said, " I’m sure father will understand."
Adam got up from his seat and went over to Emily. He lowered his head and gently kissed Emily’s forehead, " I will miss you my sister."
"Me too. " Emily said.

West, the palace
"Where is she? " Elijah’s growl resonated throughout the Great Hall. He swept his eyes over the stewards and servants who stood below, and the stern gaze seemed to strike them with a sharp knife.
The standing servants all bowed their heads, none daring to utter a sound for fear of angering the savage monarch again.
Elijah stepped down from the throne, he dragged the old butler by the collar and forced him to ask, "Why is Emily missing?"
The old butler replied in a panic, " I’m sorry, Your Majesty. I do not know what is going on here. Perhaps someone has kidnapped Ms. Emily."
"Who?"
"It would be that maid named Dolly. " The old butler said with a trembling voice, "Miss Emily was staying with that maid the day before she disappeared. This matter must be related to her."
" If you can’t find Emily, you can go to hell." Elijah threw the old steward violently against the wall. With a dull thud the body of the old steward struck the hard wall with a heavy thud, and then slid slowly down. He crouched in agony, his eyes filled with horror, but he dared not utter a single groan.
Elijah stared angrily at the paralyzed old steward, and the anger in his eyes seemed as if it would set the whole hall on fire. He turned, and again scanned the still scowling servants.
" What are you all waiting for?" Elijah snarled, "Go !Find Emily and that Dolly maid! Whatever it takes, I will find them." His voice resounded through the great hall with an irresistible majesty. The maids acted in a panic, as if they were awakening from a dream.
Elijah resumed his seat on the throne, his grip on the armrest tightening, his knuckles white with exertion. When he learned of Emily’s disappearance, he immediately rushed back from the frontier to the palace. But it was not just Emily’s disappearance that angered him; the prisoners originally held in the Black Tower had also been released by Emily without authorization, and even his secret basement had been burned down.
Elijah is convinced that Emily had something to do with both events. It was the woman who had deliberately revenged herself upon him before she left.
At that moment Elijah’s thoughts wandered to Emily’s face. He remembered the gentle, submissive manner in which Emily had appeared to him. It all turned out to be a sham. Emily did not want to be by his side at all; she had been lying to him.
" Emily, wherever you are, I will find you." Elijah’s eyes flashed with a fierce glare, and he clenched his fists as if he were clasping Emily’s tender neck in his own. " I will show you what happens when you piss me off."
