Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 202 This is your home
South, Palace
The car slowed to a stop, and the moment Emily stepped out of it she saw the stately and ornate palace. Emily hesitated; she was not sure if she should go in.
" We’re home, Emily," Prince Adam whispered to Emily,"This is your home."
Emily looked at the crimson palace gates, and her eyes were full of suspicion. After all, she had just escaped from one castle, and now she was in another. She was not sure that the castle before her was not the same prison that had held her in the palaces of the West.
" Emily, it’s okay." Dolly encouraged, " Just go inside."
" Will you stay with me?" Emily looked at Dolly with anticipation in her eyes. Dolly was the one person Emily trusted most at this point in her life, the only one with whom she felt safe.
Dolly looked at Adam as if to ask his opinion. Adam nodded and said, " Dolly, you accompany Emily to go in together."
Then they entered the palace together. A maid who came to meet them took Emily to her room. The moment the maid opened the room, Emily’s eyes filled with shock and delight as she surveyed everything in it.
The room was filled with a faint perfume of flowers, which came from a few pots of rare flowers which stood by the window. Hanging from the window was a curtain of a kind Emily had never seen before. It had a pearly sheen, thin as the wings of a cicada, and the breeze fluttered through it softly, and the curtains danced like spirit-nymphs, so that the light that came through was soft and disorienting.
This place is different from the Western Palace. Emily thought to herself that there was warmth in every corner of the place.
"This is your room. My lady. " The maid said, "If you need anything, you can always call me."
Emily nodded to the maid, "Thank you, you may leave now."
"Emily, you should be tired. " Dolly said, "Why don’t you get some rest and I’ll come back for you later."
"Where are you going? " Emily asked a little uneasily, she was afraid that Dolly would leave and not come back.
" I’m going to report to Adam." Dolly reassured Emily, " You are safe here. I promise I’ll be back with you when I’m done, okay?"
Emily nodded, " I’ll wait for you in my room then."
When Dolly was gone, Emily looked at all that was before her. She felt a sudden, unutterable sense of loneliness, like a tidal wave sweeping over her. Despite the luxury of her surroundings, she felt as if she were on a strange island. The gorgeous colors and exquisite objects seemed at this moment to have become a little illusory. She reached out her hand and touched the carved bedpost beside her, and the cold touch of her finger-tips made her shiver a little.
Then Emily went out on the veranda, and the warm sunlight fell all over her. She inhaled deeply the fragrance of the flowers, and in that moment her troubled mood at last slowly subsided.
.............
When Dolly left the room, she raised her eyes and saw Adam standing at the other end of the corridor, so she straightened her dress and then walked slowly toward Adam.
"Your Highness. " Dolly bowed respectfully to Adam.
"How is she? " Adam asked, his brow furrowed slightly, worry in his eyes.
Dolly shakes her head softly, "I can feel Emily’s inner turmoil and skepticism about everything around her."
"What is she going through in the West? " Adam’s brow furrowed as he lowered his tone with a hint of anger.
"Elijah had the wizard erase Emily’s memory, He coaxed Emily into marrying him." Dolly did not dare to tell Adam the gossip about Emily and Elijah. The words stuck like thorns in her throat, and she knew that if she spoke them they might cause Adam even more pain and anger.
"I think Emily needs a little time. " Dolly said, "It’s best if we don’t ask her about what’s going on in the West unless she comes forward."
Adam sighs as he says, "I can see that Emily only trusts you right now. So it’s best that you stay by her side during this time."
"I will."
"Dolly, I want you to know that after Emily comes back this time, I won’t let her leave the South again. "Adam reminded Dolly," So don’t mention anything to Emily about her time in the North, especially Klaus."
" But I’ve already talked to Emily about her past." Dolly showed a difficult look, "Besides, Emily and Klaus are mates, are you sure you don’t want them to stay together?"
"Emily has suffered too much since she went up north. " Adam said, his eyes filled with pain and pity, "Now she’s back. As Emily’s brother, do you think I would send her back to the place that caused her so much suffering? Besides, the royal family in the north has long since declared Klaus dead in battle, and Emily no longer has a mate relationship with him."
No, Klaus was not dead, Dolly said in her mind; he was only unconscious.
"Dolly, remember what I said, okay?" Adam admonished Dolly, "Don’t mention Klaus in front of Emily. Even if she had loved that man, he had brought her a series of misfortunes. Maybe it wouldn’t be a bad thing for Emily to forget about Klaus."
" Do you really think so?" Dolly’s tone was uncertain. She had lived with Emily in the North, and she had witnessed the love between Emily and Klaus.
They were deeply in love with each other.
"If Klaus hadn’t insisted on attacking the West, how could Emily have suffered so many misfortunes?" A trace of displeasure flashed across Adam’s face, " Since Emily has forgotten the past, she should be allowed to start a new life, shouldn’t she?"
Dolly made no retort to Adam’s words; she was simply silent. She knew that Adam was doing it for Emily’s good, but she could not easily deny the affection between Emily and Klaus. The silence was like a wall separating the different states of mind in which she and Adam were at that moment, and she was at the other end of the wall, in a deep knot.
When Adam was gone, Dolly walked in silence to a corner. It was a long time before she got out her cell phone and called Susan’s number. When the call was answered, Dolly said to Susan on the other end of the line, "Hey, this is Dolly. Can you get Marx on the phone for me?"
