Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 164 Will the Dream Come True?
North, Green Forest Pack.
Emily was plunged once more into that horrible nightmare.
It was a barren battlefield, the ground blackened with battle, and the air pungent with smoke. The wind whistled and blew, sending up a cloud of dust.
Klaus and Elijah stood at opposite ends of the field, like two majestic war-gods. Klaus was dressed in black; his face was cold and angular, like an elaborately carved marble statue, and his green eyes were covered with scarlet threads of blood.
Elijah’s black hair fluttered in the wind, and his eyes were cold and keen, like a sword that could penetrate to the heart. The corners of his mouth were slightly raised in a sneer that seemed to express confidence in the contest.
They stared at each other, and the moment their eyes met it was as if a thousand sparks had burst in the air. The atmosphere on the battlefield was tense to the point where it seemed as if even the wind had frozen.
They began to move their feet slowly, one step at a time, toward each other. When they were within a few paces of each other, Klaus suddenly exploded with a mighty aura, like a fierce cheetah upon Elijah, who, without showing any weakness, instantly unleashed his strength to meet the onslaught of Klaus. Their silhouettes criss-crossed the field of battle, and sharp blades and wolf claws clashed with dazzling sparks. Each attack carried a deadly threat, and each defense was charged with excitement.
Emily, at a distance, watched their struggle nervously, her heart as if it were gripped by an invisible hand.
At last, however, the scales of fate tipped, and Elijah, seeing an opportunity, swung out his wolf’s claws, and the sharp talons flashed like lightning at Klaus. Klaus was unable to dodge and was struck in the chest. His body shook for a moment, and there was a look of disbelief in his eyes.
Then Klaus slowly crumbled, like a flag in tatters. Emily’s eyes widened, and the tears blurred her vision for an instant. She tried desperately to rush to his side, but her body seemed fixed, unable to move.
Elijah looked coldly at the prostrate Klaus, without a trace of pity. At that moment, a fire started out of nowhere. The flames spread rapidly, like a ferocious beast, devouring everything in its way. The battlefield instantly became a sea of flame, and the searing temperature made it seem as if one were in the middle of hell.
The flames leaped and crackled. The red glow of the fire reflected across the battlefield, illuminating the bodies and bones strewn all over the ground. Some of the bones were mutilated, and others were still in their fighting position, as if to tell of the cruelty of the war. In a sea of flames, Klaus’s body was gradually enveloped in flames. His once powerful body looked so small and helpless in the flames.
Emily watched all this with despair, and her heart was filled with pain and fear. She tried to call out Klaus’s name, but her throat was choked and she could make no sound. She could only watch as Klaus was engulfed in flames, and as the sea of flame grew more and more intense, until it seemed as if it would burn the world to the ground.
"No!" Emily woke up screaming.
She was drenched in sweat, and her heart was beating so fast that it seemed to be bursting from her breast. She was gasping for air, her eyes full of alarm and uneasiness.
The nightmare had been so real that it seemed as if all that had just happened were reality, and the image of Klaus being killed by Elijah and engulfed in flames lingered in her mind, making her uneasy and restless.
Emily lay tossing in her bed, but could not fall asleep again, no matter what. Every time she closed her eyes, the horror would resurface, sending shivers down her spine.
So Emily sat up helplessly, put on her coat, and decided to go outside for some fresh air, in the hope that it would calm her fears.
The night was quiet in the pack, and the breeze was gentle and cool. Emily walked to a bench by the roadside and sat down quietly.
Emily watched the empty street in solitude, the moonlight falling on the ground and flooding it with a cold radiance. Not a single figure was to be seen in the street, only the occasional breeze and the rustle of leaves.
Emily’s eyes are vacant and confused, and scenes from her nightmares keep coming to mind; Like a nightmare, the image of Klaus being killed by Elijah and engulfed in flames haunted her and weighed her down.
She just sat there, lost in her own thoughts, as if cut off from the whole world.
Why was the dream so real this time? Emily thought to herself, could this be some kind of omen?
Ever since Klaus had gone, the uneasy feeling in Emily’s heart had grown more and more pronounced. She had not heard anything from the front for many days, and Klaus had not been in touch.
An impulse surged through Emily. She wanted to go to the war at once, she wanted to be by Klaus’s side. She could not stand by and see Klaus in danger.
But she had promised Klaus that she would never go to war. She had promised not to allow him to be distracted by the war.
Emily was torn, and it tormented her. Should she go to the front?
"Luna. " A low voice interrupted Emily’s thoughts.
Emily looked up to see Susan standing in front of her in her patrol uniform. Susan looked at Emily with puzzled eyes, "Why are you here?" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"I just couldn’t sleep. " Emily replied softly.
The light from the street lamp fell upon Susan’s body. Her short hair gave her the appearance of a boy, but her bulging breasts and slender waist proved that she was a real girl. Susan looked at Emily with eyes no longer full of hostility as they had been when we first met. On the contrary, she was now more amiable.
"Do you need me to stay with you for a while? "Susan said.
"Sit. " Emily gestured for Susan to sit beside her.
" What is making it hard for you to sleep? " Susan asked with concern.
"A very terrible nightmare. " Emily sighed softly.
" My father used to tell me that dreams and reality are often the opposite." Susan said, " But my grandmother said the opposite of what my father said. She told me that the werewolf possessed the power of recognition, and that this power often manifested itself through dreams. Sometimes dreams come true."
Can dreams come true? Emily’s heart felt like it was gripped tightly by something and she lowered her voice to ask, " Have you ever experienced anything like that?"
Susan lowered her head, she was silent for a few seconds, "When my father died before, I had a dream about him."
"What did you dream about? " Emily asked cautiously.
Susan gave a bitter smile, "I dreamt that he picked me up like he did when I was little, he kissed me on the cheek then said goodbye. He also made a point of telling me to stop acting like a boy in the future."
She scratched her hair, " My father doesn’t like me to have short hair, he says it makes me look like a boy. But I just want to look like a boy."
"Why do you have short hair? " Emily also wondered why Susan always had short hair. If she had long hair, she would have been beautiful.
"Because..." Susan’s eyes looked ahead, "Because everyone thinks that boys are always stronger than girls, and that boys can do a lot of things that girls can’t. Besides, my father and I had only one child together, and there were people in the pack who talked behind my back all the time. They think that girls are not capable of inheriting the pack."
" A lot of people are prejudiced against women." Emily lamented, " thus causing women to lose a lot of the power they deserve."
" But that’s not true." Susan said, "I will prove to everyone that women can do the same things that men can do. That’s one of the reasons why I want to be an Alpha."
Emily smiled slightly, "So you still want to be Alpha, right?"
Susan nodded, "I will become a true Alpha by competing."
"Then you’ll have to work twice as hard. "Emily joked, "My husband is the strongest Alpha. It won’t be easy for you to beat him."
" I will." Susan smiled, "But my grandmother also told me that even the strongest man will meet an opponent stronger than him."
Emily’s heart skipped a violent beat as she heard those words. For an instant, it was as if an invisible hand had closed upon her heart and made her almost unable to breathe.
The image of that nightmare came back to Emily like a haunting picture of horror.
The scene of the fierce duel between Klaus and Elijah on the field of battle, the image of Klaus being struck by Elijah’s vitals and slowly collapsing, and the fire that engulfed everything, all flashed so clearly before her eyes.
Even if Klaus is strong, he will face an opponent as strong as himself. Elijah, the mystery man. He was Klaus’s only opponent.
A deep fear and anxiety welled up in Emily. She wondered what would happen if Klaus did face Elijah again. She was afraid that the nightmare scenario would come true and that Klaus would be in danger again.
Emily clasped her hands and tried to compose herself.
"Are you okay Luna?" Susan’s concerned voice rang in Emily’s ears.
She snapped back to her senses, then told Susan, "I’m fine."
Emily rose slowly, as the night breeze gently ruffled her hair and gave it a slight coolness.
"Thanks for talking to me. It’s too late, I’m going back."
" I’ll keep going on patrol then." Susan said, "Good night, Luna."
" Goodnight Susan." Emily turned to go, the cold night air against her cheeks. She was unconscious of it at that moment. The coolness cleared her mind and strengthened her decision.
She must go to the front.
