Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 150 Punishment of the Rebels
Should Susan be forgiven? Emily pondered the question, but Susan’s actions had violated pack rules. If she wasn’t punished, how would Klaus establish his authority in the future?
Yet, Susan was being manipulated by Dyson, and as she was merely a girl, perhaps she shouldn’t be punished too harshly.
"Have you come up with a solution?" Klaus inquired.
Emily pursed her lips for a moment as she deliberated, "I believe we should show kindness to our former Alpha’s daughter."
"So?" Klaus elongated the syllable.
"Although Susan’s actions breach the pack’s rules, she’s being exploited by Dyson. Therefore, I think we could give her a relatively minor punishment," Emily said, then hesitated, looking uncertainly at Klaus.
She hoped Klaus would offer his guidance or that he would ultimately make the decision. After all, Klaus had more experience than she did in managing the pack.
"You’re asking me to make this call, aren’t you?" Klaus discerned her thoughts.
"So, what’s your verdict?" Emily asked curiously.
Klaus struck his chin with his hand and pretended to contemplate for a moment, "According to my old ways, I’d exile Susan from the pack."
"Are you seriously considering that?" Emily gazed at him anxiously.
"But for now, I must defer to the advice of my Luna," Klaus said, looking at Emily with love in his eyes. "But you’re right; we must be lenient towards the daughter of our former alpha, or the rest of the pack might perceive me as a ruthless leader, even though I don’t give their opinions much thought."
Klaus paused for a couple of seconds, "So, I’ve decided to revoke Susan’s title and privileges. In the future, she’ll have to live in a regular dormitory like other pack members and work every day. If she behaves well, I’ll reconsider reinstating her title and privileges. As for the others who broke the pack’s rules, they’ll receive their just punishment. Are you satisfied with the outcome?"
Emily nodded, "I agree with your decision."
"In the afternoon, I’ll convene all pack members for a meeting in the square and publicly punish the rebels," Klaus stated.
Emily didn’t object to his decision, knowing full well that Klaus wished to assert his authority before the entire pack, and public punishment of the rebels was the most effective way to do so.
"You’re also attending the afternoon meeting," Klaus reminded Emily.
"I’ll be there."
..........
On an autumn afternoon, the sky was slightly gray, as if shrouded in a thin veil. The wind blew gently, carrying a hint of coolness, and withered yellow leaves swirled and fell through the air.
All the pack members stood silently in the square, creating an atmosphere that was solemn and oppressive. Nervous expressions adorned every face, and their eyes were filled with apprehension and fear. Evidently, they knew that today, Alpha was going to punish the traitor publicly as a warning to the entire pack.
Klaus stood in the middle of the square, his black trench coat fluttering slightly in the wind. His eyes were cold and majestic, like those of a noble king, making one afraid to look directly into them.
"I’m Klaus, your new alpha." His voice was low and commanding, like a muted roll of thunder echoing across the square.
He paused, then continued, "Before I arrived, Emily, our Luna, was already here. She treats everyone with immense kindness and tolerance, and she even funds the pack with her own money, silently contributing to our common welfare. Those who have hurt her, she chose to forgive rather than punish. Her tolerance is her virtue, but that doesn’t excuse their actions."
Anger flickered in Klaus’s eyes. "These rebels must answer for their deeds. They will be executed as an example! Marx, bring them forward."
Marx, who stood on the sidelines with a stern face, led a few of his men to drag the traitors to the center of the square. Under the gray autumn sky, they looked like helpless worms abandoned to their fate.
The traitors were bound hand and foot, looking ashamed. Their clothes were torn and covered in dust and blood, evident from their struggle to be captured. Their eyes were filled with fear and despair, as if they had already glimpsed their grim fate.
Emily recognized one of the traitors as the man who wore the cap that day. He was the one who colluded with Dyson.
"Open your eyes and witness the consequences of betrayal," Klaus’s voice thundered, so majestic and powerful that everyone had to look at the traitor at his command.
Klaus openly revealed his wolf claws, as sharp as a keen sword and glowing with a chilling aura. Under the gray autumn sky, the cold light seemed to pierce through everything, striking terror into the hearts of all.
Emily gasped, her eyes fixed on Klaus. She watched him walk with a stone-faced expression toward the first traitor, whose face was now trembling with terror. Klaus’s eyes were cold, void of any hint of mercy.
Slowly, he raised his wolf’s paw, and the sharp claws flashed through the air. Then, without a moment’s hesitation, he drove the wolf’s paw straight into the man’s heart. In an instant, blood gushed out, staining the ground red. The traitor didn’t even have time to utter a cry before collapsing to the ground, his life abruptly extinguished.
Without the slightest pause, Klaus withdrew his wolf’s paw and advanced toward the second traitor. Desperation filled the traitor’s eyes as he tried to struggle, only to find himself immobile under Klaus’s powerful aura. Klaus raised his wolf’s paw once more, and the cold gleam made the air around him seem to freeze.
Then he stabbed the second traitor fiercely. With a dull thud, the claws of the wolf pierced the traitor’s body. The traitor’s eyes widened, blood gushed from his mouth, and his body slowly slumped.
The entire process didn’t last more than ten minutes. One by one, the traitors fell, their bodies lying on their backs, their eyes wide open in terror or closed in despair, as if whispering their final regrets and horror.
The square, which had once been neat and orderly, was now drenched in blood. The crimson blood flowed slowly across the ground, pooling into thin streams like vines of evil spreading.
The surrounding pack members watched the scene with faces of fear and awe. Some of the more timid members turned pale and trembled slightly. They had never seen Klaus display such tremendous strength and ruthlessness.
The autumn wind continued to howl, as if mourning the brutal spectacle.
"To Alpha Klaus, Luna Emily," Marx shouted to the group. His voice reverberated through the square like a boulder thrown into a still lake, creating ripples of waves.
At first, everyone was a bit stunned. Then, as if pulled by an invisible force, they knelt down. Their eyes were filled with awe, loyalty, respect for the strong, and faith in their leader.
Klaus stood motionless as he gestured for Emily to come to his side. He took her hand and accepted the surrender of the people.
"From this day forward, we will stand united to protect our homeland," Klaus’s voice boomed. "Betrayers will be severely punished, while those who remain loyal will be glorified and rewarded."
Klaus’s words echoed in Emily’s ears as she cautiously glanced at him.
It was the first time she had truly felt the harshness of Klaus’s rule. The cold wind swept across Emily’s cheeks, while Klaus warmly squeezed her hand.
Emily glanced up at the gray sky and remembered Klaus’s words.
"War is coming."
