Chapter 147: Chapter 147 Do Not Plead for the Traitors

Klaus leaned slightly and looked Emily in the eye, his voice low and gentle. "Don’t worry, my love. It’s just a matter that needs to be resolved."

Emily gazed back at Klaus with a troubled expression in her eyes. She furrowed her brow slightly and asked softly, "Did you arrest someone?"

"Just a few traitors," Klaus replied, his tone remaining calm, his eyes deep and determined.

He looked at Emily as if he wanted to comfort her with his gaze. He assured her, "I’ll handle the pack’s affairs. Don’t worry about it."

However, Emily was not reassured by his words, and the unease in her heart intensified. She stood up, her eyes fixed on Klaus, "Did you catch Susan?"

Klaus gave a soft grunt in response to Emily.

"What are you going to do with her?" Emily asked tentatively.

Klaus did not hesitate. "Susan incited the pack members to attempt a mutiny, and according to the pack’s rules, she should be sentenced to death."

His words were cold and firm, as if stating an unchangeable fact.

"Klaus, Susan is just a child, and the reason she rebelled against me is because..."

"But she’s the one in charge," Klaus interrupted Emily. "Whatever Susan’s reason for rebelling against you, she made a fatal mistake. I’m sure she must have known the consequences before making her decision, but she still didn’t hesitate to incite the other pack members to rebel against you. This shows that she doesn’t accept you as the pack’s Luna at all, and similarly, she doesn’t accept me as the alpha."

"But those who protested against me have pledged their allegiance to me," Emily said. "In fact, this protest is over."

"Do you really think so?" Klaus asked rhetorically. "If I were late today, do you know what would have happened to the pack?"

Emily was stunned. "What are you talking about?"

"When I arrived with those alpha warriors, guess what the people who swore allegiance to you were doing?" Klaus said in a serious tone. "They were massing, and they were trying to launch another coup d’état in the name of saving Susan."

"How could they..." Emily couldn’t believe how the men could have broken their oaths after kneeling before her and pledging their allegiance to her.

"The first rule of ruling the pack is not to be benevolent, but to use tough means," Klaus patiently explained to her. "You have no experience in managing packs, so it’s good that you let me handle it."

Emily looked down and pondered. After a few seconds, she said to Klaus, "Maybe you’re right, but I’m convinced that Susan was being manipulated."

"Why do you believe in that girl so much?" Klaus frowned, puzzled.

"It’s just a gut feeling. Maybe it’s a far-fetched reason, but I firmly believe in my instincts."

"Klaus, I hope you don’t hurt Susan until you get to the bottom of this," Emily pleaded.

Klaus sighed, "You’re so kind, Emily. But I promise you that I’ll look into it."

"Thank you, Klaus," Emily said.

Now, close your eyes," Klaus’s tone carried a hint of command. "If you haven’t fallen asleep by the time I return, I’m not sure what I’ll do for you." You know how it is.

Emily understood exactly what Klaus meant, and she shut her eyes immediately.

........

Emily squinted slightly, adjusting to the soft glow, her mind still foggy, as though she’d just awakened from a prolonged dream.

She rose slowly and surveyed her surroundings. The room was empty and silent. The familiar scent seemed to linger, but there was no sign of Klaus.

Hasn’t Klaus come back yet? A flicker of anxiety crossed her mind. She gently bit her lower lip, her heart filled with doubts and unease.

So, Emily stepped out of the bedroom and, as she passed the study, she heard voices coming from inside. The study door was concealed, and a faint light seeped through a crack.

Emily hesitated, then gently pushed the door open and stepped in.

Klaus was seated behind her desk, while Marx sat on a couch with two unfamiliar men. When the people in the study saw Emily, they abruptly ceased their conversation.

Marx was the first to rise, addressing Emily respectfully, "Luna."

The other two men in black uniforms also stood up and greeted her, "Luna."

Emily’s gaze scanned the group and finally rested on Klaus. Her eyes were filled with questions, as if asking what was wrong with him.

Klaus looked at Emily, a touch of tenderness in his eyes. He gave a slight nod, signaling her not to worry. Then he turned to the others, "The meeting is adjourned for now. We’ll resume the discussion tomorrow. You’re all free to go."

Why was Klaus avoiding her? Emily wondered. Was he keeping something from her?

Once the men had left the study, leaving Emily and Klaus alone, Klaus said, "Close the door, Lover."

Emily shut the study door, and when she turned, Klaus was already rising from behind his desk. He had changed into a dark gray shirt with a black jacket, resembling a deity emerging from the dark night, radiating an aura of mystery and power.

The dark gray shirt was finely textured, fitting his broad chest and subtly outlining his perfect muscular lines. The color was like a serene night sky, calm and restrained, yet hinting at an enigmatic depth. The neckline was slightly open, revealing a patch of bronzed skin that emanated masculine charm. The sleeves of his shirt were casually rolled up, exposing his strong forearms, with green tendons slightly prominent, showcasing his strength.

The black jacket resembled his combat attire, with straight lines accentuating his tall, upright figure. The sheer black fabric gleamed in the light. The jacket was left slightly unbuttoned, giving him a more relaxed and uninhibited appearance.

He sat down on the couch and gestured for Emily to join him. When Emily sat, he embraced her and spoke softly, "Why don’t you sleep a little longer?"

"I’ve slept enough," Emily replied. "Were you in a meeting just now?"

"Yes. They were just reporting to me on the interrogation results," Klaus said.

"So, what did you find out?" Emily asked gently.

"Marx got several of the mutineers to talk, and they confessed that Susan was the one who instructed them to rebel against you behind your back. Susan has also confessed and is willing to accept all punishment," Klaus said briefly. "Susan will be sentenced to death along with the rebels."

"Do you really believe what they’re saying?" Emily furrowed her brow. "I think it has something to do with Dyson. He told Susan the secret that I didn’t have a wolf, and then asked her to use that as a pretext to rebel against me." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"What do you think Dyson did?" Klaus pondered. "But why didn’t Susan mention Dyson in her confession?"

"Maybe she has something to fear," Emily said. "Let me see Susan. I want to talk to her."

"Are you sure you want to do that?"

Emily nodded, and Klaus hesitated before saying, "Okay, but you only have one night. If Susan still doesn’t want to give you more information, then she’ll be sentenced to death at dawn along with the traitors."
