Chapter 126: Chapter 126 Return to the North

The next day, Emily and Klaus returned to the capital, and after a day’s stay, they embarked on their journey back to the north.

Prince Adam personally escorted them to the airport and handed Emily a letter before she boarded the plane. "Emily," he said, "this is a letter from King James for you. He’s not well enough to bid you farewell in person, but he’s written down everything he wanted to say to you."

Emily took the letter, intending to open it once she was on the plane.

This time, Dolly and Emily returned to the north together, carrying little more than a suitcase filled with clothes and a few household items.

The plane lifted off smoothly, its engines roaring, shattering the silence of the airport. Emily sat by the window, gazing out with mixed emotions. She watched Prince Adam standing on the tarmac, his white figure gleaming like a beacon in the sunlight. His shirt fluttered gently in the breeze, outlining his elegant silhouette.

He still smiled at her warmly, and the sun cast a golden glow over him, making him seem like a prince from a fairy tale.

As the plane began to accelerate for takeoff, he waved at her. Emily watched as his figure grew smaller, from a clear outline to a faint speck, until he finally vanished from sight.

"What are you thinking, my love?"

Emily turned her head to see Klaus walking towards her seat, sitting down beside her, and reaching out to embrace her.

"I know you’re hesitant to leave the south," Klaus stroked her long, silky hair. "But we can come back anytime you want."

"I know," Emily whispered, "I just want to sleep like this for a while."

"Sleep, my dear," Klaus kissed her forehead. "I’ll be here with you."

Emily said nothing more; she buried her head in Klaus’s arms. His broad, warm chest was always her safest haven, and she breathed deeply in his embrace, feeling a sense of tranquility. Then, slowly, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Emily dreamed about the night she was kidnapped. She found herself standing in a dim forest, where the rain fell relentlessly like a thick curtain, shrouding the world in a misty haze. The raindrops pattered against the leaves and splashed dully on the wet ground.

A strange, ominous sound lingered in her ears, a ghostly echo from the depths of hell, eerie and terrifying.

Her heart pounded fiercely, as if it would burst from her chest. Fear clutched at her soul like an invisible hand.

She ran to escape whatever it was, her feet sinking into the mud, making each step heavy and difficult, but she dared not stop, for fear of being consumed by unknown horrors.

She ran, she didn’t know for how long, until suddenly she saw two dim figures. As she approached, she realized it was Klaus and Elijah standing in the rain, staring at each other with fury and hostility in their eyes. The rain streamed down their faces, but they didn’t seem to notice.

Emily tried to reach out to Klaus, but her feet felt rooted to the spot, and she couldn’t move. Her heart felt as if it were being squeezed by an invisible hand, and anxiety and helplessness swirled in her eyes.

She could only watch as Klaus and Elijah fought each other. Klaus tore at Elijah’s throat with the sharp claws of a wolf, and in that moment, blood spattered like a fountain, and the strong scent of it filled the air. Elijah’s body fell straight back into the muddy water with a dull thud that struck Emily’s heart like a hammer.

Within seconds, Elijah was slowly rising to his feet. His throat, which had been slit, appeared exactly as it had before, as if it had never been wounded. He sneered and stretched out his wolf’s claws, whose sharp points gleamed in the rain and pierced Klaus to the heart.

"No, Klaus!" cried Emily, her voice poignant and desperate in the rain. She ran desperately toward Klaus, but a powerful force held her back, like an invisible yoke, making it impossible for her to break free.

Suddenly, her surroundings changed, and that force carried her to another place.

"Emily, Emily." A voice echoed in her ears, weak and eager, with endless attachment. She looked up and saw Klaus, covered in blood, standing in front of her. His shirt was soaked with blood, and his hair was disheveled across his face, but his eyes were still hot and affectionate.

"Emily, come with me, lover." Klaus held out his hand to her, and it trembled slightly, as if to speak of his pain and longing.

"Emily, you’re mine." Another voice came from Emily’s other side, and she turned her head to look at Elijah. He stared at her with those gray eyes, so cold as ice that they made one shudder.

His face was impassive, and he exuded a menacing, cold aura. He simply stood still, like an emotionless sculpture, but with an irresistible sense of oppression.

"Emily, leave them alone." Adam’s white figure appeared in Emily’s line of sight, farther away than Klaus and Elijah, but his voice was crystal clear. He was like a bright light piercing the darkness of conflict and fear.

Adam’s figure fluttered slightly in the wind, and his white clothes were as pristine as if he had come from another, purer world. His eyes were full of tenderness and care, a reassuring force.

"You don’t belong to any of them," Adam gently said to Emily. "Emily, you belong only to the South." He lifted his hand slightly and pointed into the distance, as if to show Emily a path to peace.

Suddenly, the voices of all echoed in Emily’s ears at once, all calling her name.

"Emily."

"Emily."

"Emily."

Emily covered her ears, "Don’t, don’t."

She opened her eyes sharply, and Klaus’s face came into view, clear and distinct.

"Are you having nightmares, lover?" Klaus looked at her with concern as he carefully wiped the perspiration from her forehead.

Emily gasped, staring blankly at everything in the cabin. The nightmare that had just overtaken her made it impossible for a moment to tell whether it was reality or a vision.

It took several minutes for her to regain normal consciousness. She took the iced water from Klaus and sipped it as she looked out at the dark night sky.

"Where are we?" Emily asked.

"We’re back in the north," Klaus replied.

"What did you dream about?"

Emily shook her head, "Nothing."

It was only a dream, Emily assured herself, and it meant nothing.
