Alpha's mate is a male?!?-Chapter 179: Our son
Chapter 179: Our son
"So, how is this going to work?" Rey asks, sprawled on the couch across from Jun. His fingers drum lazily against the fabric, but his sharp gaze stays fixed on Jun. "Like, nothing between us from now?"
Jun exhales, rubbing the back of his neck. "No, Gosh, I didn’t mean that. We can decide_ like, one night we do it, the other night we don’t no Matter the mood. Then when we’re at the pack house, that’s always a no. No doing anything there, even if we sleep in the same bed. The office at the hotel, also a no. The car? That’s another no."
Rey groans dramatically, tossing an arm over his eyes. "You wanna kill me or something?"
Jun chuckles. "It’s just a short period of time, babe. Just to measure how long we can really resist each other."
Rey peeks out from under his arm, lips curling into a smirk. "Okay, fine. Let’s do this."
Jun nods in satisfaction, but he doesn’t respond. Instead, he falls into a quiet stillness, his expression unreadable.
Rey watches him, already knowing the reason for the sudden silence. Every time they step into this house, the memories of Marsel and Elira creep into their minds like ghosts that refuse to leave.
The house had always been a place of warmth, filled with laughter and comforting scents of home-cooked meals.
Even now, when everything is different, the memory of those family dinners lingers in the air, making it impossible to forget.
"I know you feel tired," Rey says softly, breaking the silence. "Should we take a shower and sleep?"
"Sounds great," Jun replies, pushing himself up and heading toward their room.
Despite the house having separate rooms for each of them, Kieran, Rey, Ace, Jun, only Marsel and Elira had shared a room. And even with that, Ace had always slept beside Kieran, and Jun... well, Jun had always slept beside Jun.
Jun enters the bathroom first but comes back out within a minute, poking his head into the bedroom. "Hey! You coming?"
Rey sits up on the bed, laughing. "No, thank you. I know exactly what you’re trying to do."
Jun raises a brow, feigning innocence. "I’m not trying to do anything."
"Yes, you are," Rey accuses, shaking his head with amusement. "You want me to..."
"Fine, I won’t beg you," Jun says, lifting his hands in surrender, though a small smirk plays at his lips.
"Thank you." Rey flops back onto the bed, still chuckling to himself.
Jun finishes showering quickly, dressing in comfortable clothes before tossing the towel into the hamper. By the time he’s done, Rey has already slipped into the bathroom.
Within minutes, they’re both lying in bed, side by side, facing opposite directions.
Despite the exhaustion weighing down their bodies, neither of them can seem to find sleep. free𝑤ebnovel.com
They keep tossing and turning, adjusting their positions, but the silence stretches between them like an unspoken challenge.
Minutes pass. Then, Jun murmurs, "Maybe we should start the challenge after tonight."
Rey sits up immediately, eyes wide with hope. "Wait, like for real? Or are you messing with me, Jun?"
Jun doesn’t answer, not with words. Instead, he shifts over Rey, his hands making quick work of their clothes.
He silences any further protests by capturing Rey’s lips in a deep, hungry kiss.
Meanwhile, At the Pack House,
The moment Ace stops the car outside the pack house, Kieran reaches for him, holding him in a firm, unyielding embrace.
His arms wrap tightly around Ace, as if letting go might make him disappear.
"I’m sorry, okay?" Kieran murmurs against Ace’s shoulder. His voice is rough with regret. "I know I shouldn’t have done that. I should’ve thought about you... about how you’d feel if I died. But baby, I was thinking about you in that moment. I couldn’t let you get shot, and somehow, it was instinct. I just found myself in front of you."
Ace clenches his fists against Kieran’s back. His emotions spill over before he can stop them.
Tears blur his vision, and his voice wavers as he chokes out, "What if you had really died?! What then? You thought you were saving me, but you only hurt me!"
Kieran tightens his hold, but he doesn’t say anything. He just lets Ace cry against him, his own heart aching with guilt.
When they finally enter their room, Ace heads straight to the bathroom without another word.
Kieran sighs and steps over to the bedside table, calling for the staff to bring food to their room.
By the time Ace emerges from the bathroom, freshly dressed, he finds a plate of food waiting for him. But Kieran is nowhere in sight.
Ace frowns, glancing around. "Why is he so stubborn?" he mutters. "He’s supposed to be resting, for his body to recover completely, not wandering around."
Just as he finishes dressing, the door creaks open. Kieran steps inside, but he’s not alone.
Cradled in his arms is a small baby, no older than three months. The moment Ace sees the infant, his entire expression softens, his heart melting at the sight.
"You went for him?" Ace breathes, his hands already reaching out. "You brought him?"
Kieran’s lips twitch into a rare, genuine smile as he walks closer. "Well, didn’t you say we should make time for our baby?"
Ace laughs, carefully taking the baby from Kieran’s arms.
The child coos softly, his tiny hands curling into fists as he nestles against Ace’s chest.
His round cheeks are plump and rosy, his deep blue eyes curious yet calm.
A small tuft of dark hair sits atop his head, soft and wispy. He’s dressed in a tiny onesie, his feet tucked into warm little socks that make him look even more adorable.
Ace presses a gentle kiss to the baby’s forehead. "Right," he murmurs, holding him closer.
Kieran leans against the doorframe, watching them with an affectionate gaze. "I heard he was crying nonstop, but the moment I held him, he stopped," he says, unable to hide the smugness in his voice.
Ace raises an eyebrow. "Bragging, are we?"
Kieran chuckles. "Just stating facts."
Ace shakes his head, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Alright, great father. Does that mean your blood and his go hand in hand?"
"Absolutely," Kieran replies without hesitation.
Ace just smiles, his heart full. He presses another soft kiss to the baby’s forehead, whispering, "We’re going to take care of you. No matter what."
And in that moment, everything else fades, the fear, the pain, the exhaustion. All that remains is the warmth of family.
"We said we’d name him together," Ace reminds Kieran, his eyes still fixed on the baby nestled in his arms.
"Right," Kieran agrees with a nod, but then his tone shifts to something more firm. "But can we eat first? Don’t argue... I know you haven’t eaten in a while. That’s why I sent for this."
Ace opens his mouth to protest but stops himself. Kieran is right. He hadn’t realized how much time had passed since he last ate.
With a small sigh, he finally sits down, though instead of picking up his own food, he takes the baby’s milk from Kieran and starts feeding the baby instead.
Kieran watches, shaking his head with amusement. "That’s not what I meant when I said you should eat, Ace."
Ace ignores him, gently tilting the bottle as the baby suckles eagerly.
His tiny fingers curl around Ace’s, gripping tightly. The moment is quiet and peaceful, Ace lost in the way the baby looks up at him with those big, innocent eyes.
But after a few minutes, the baby suddenly turns his head away, lips pressing together in refusal. Ace tries again, but the baby makes a small fussy noise, clearly full.
"Alright, I get it, you’re done," Ace says, smiling softly as he brushes a gentle hand over the baby’s tiny head.
Kieran, however, isn’t having it. "Now let go of him and eat," he says, prying Ace’s arms away.
Ace grumbles but relents, reluctantly handing the baby back to Kieran before finally turning his attention to his plate.
They eat in comfortable silence, the baby resting contentedly against Kieran’s chest, his tiny fingers occasionally reaching up to touch Kieran’s chin.
After finishing their meal, they settle into bed, the baby lying between them, making soft, happy noises. He giggles randomly, kicking his little feet.
Kieran watches him with an affectionate smirk. "I never thought something like this would feel this comforting."
Ace chuckles, feeling it too, but can’t put In words.
"Alright, you go first. What do you suggest?" Kieran asks.
Ace shakes his head. "No, you go first."
Kieran groans. "Come on, I’m not good at this... okay, how about Danial?"
Ace bursts out laughing. "Absolutely not!"
Kieran frowns. "What? What’s wrong with that?"
"Nothing, I just don’t want it," Ace says, still chuckling.
Kieran sighs. "Fine. Then you suggest something."
Ace thinks for a moment before saying, "Tyler?"
Kieran scrunches his nose. "Mmm... I don’t know."
They go back and forth, throwing out names, but nothing sticks. Every suggestion is met with either a grimace or outright rejection.
Then, at the exact same time, they both say, "Billie."
A moment of silence passes before the baby suddenly lets out a loud, delighted giggle, as if agreeing with them.
Ace’s eyes widen, and he turns to Kieran. "Did you hear that?"
Kieran chuckles. "Doesn’t sound bad... and he even seems to like it himself."
Ace smiles, looking down at the baby. "Billie it is, then."
With the name finally decided, exhaustion catches up to them. The baby lets out a small yawn, his tiny mouth opening wide before he snuggles into the space between them.
And just like that, they all drift off to sleep, the room filled with quiet breathing and the warmth of their little family.
