Alpha's Hidden Precious Luna-Chapter 46
Lily POV
It felt like days had passed since the fever started.
Slowly, the fever began to subside. The fire that had coursed through my body began to cool too; my temperature returned to normal. Although I was still in a state of unconsciousness – still trapped in the dream world, I could tell I was feeling better and my wolf’s voice was becoming clearer.
“You’re awake!” she said warmly. “I’m glad. How do you feel?” she asked.
“I’m feeling better,” I murmured “Thank you.”
“That’s a relief,” she sighed. “Do you still remember that I’m your wolf? I think it’s time I introduced myself to you properly. My name is Nala and I’m your wolf. I couldn’t appear to you earlier because someone has been feeding you a dangerous substance – The root of Wolfsbane. It’s a dangerous drug and it prevented you from feeling me and also me from awakening and it kept me locked away all these years.”
A chill ran down my spine at the revelation and the first name that came to my mind was ‘My father’. “It was my father,” I whispered, as tears moistened in my eyes. “It must have been him, no other person.”
“I see,” Nala responded. “We can find out to be sure but I’ll need to be physically close to him to be able to gather any information. Only then we could be sure the was the one doing this to you.”
“I don’t understand?” I asked “How are you going to do it? My father would never confess to something like that.”
“I don’t need you to ask him,” she replied “I have the ability to tap into anyone’s mindlink with proper training of course. Although I am still rusty but I can read a person’s shallow mind. But we’ll get better in the future.”
“What!” my eyes widened as shock coursed through me. “Tap into someone else’s mindlink? But...that’s impossible! Werewolves can only be admitted into a mindlink and it is controlled by werewolves with higher ranks and they’re the only ones that have the permission to grant these mindlink.”
“Well!” her voice was filled with amusement. “Not for me. We have talents and abilities a lot of werewolves don’t have. Tell me, Lily,” she said quietly “Have you ever been able to foretell danger? Like something in your gut tells you that something bad would happen to you if you stay in a particular place for long at a given time.”
“Uh...” I searched the archives of my brain, trying to remember if there had been any situation like that. “Well, yes, I remembered when I drove through the forest a few weeks back. It was dark without light but I was able to drive without hitting a single tree. It was as though something was warning me, guiding my path and I was able to weave through the forest without driving into any tree,” I said.
“Well, even the greatest of Moon priests or priestesses would not be able to do it, Lily,” Nala said.
“Oh!” I sighed, as everything fell into place now. “I thought I was just being lucky,” I whispered.
“Not luck, Lily,” she corrected gently. “Talent. Power. We’re something special, Lily. Something that many may fear us for... and others would kill to control.”
My heart raced with excitement. I had never felt this strong connection before since I was born. I felt a strong sense of peace and grounding and for the first time in a long while, I felt safe. Like really, really safe.
As my hands pumped with joy, I felt myself slowly waking up, becoming aware of the world and it could only mean one thing, I was waking up. I felt the last fog of sleep lift and I finally became aware of my surroundings.
Although, my eyes were still shut but I could feel the softness of the bed beneath me, the quiet hum of what seemed to be some sort of hospital machine next to me. I could smell antiseptic and bleach and something else... another scent... the scent of a male werewolf.
I felt footsteps – urgent footsteps approaching me. Every muscle in my body tensed, ready to fight or flee but I felt calm within, it was as if I could tell that whoever it was that was approaching me would not hurt me. The person seemed cautious when he came to stand by my bed. His hand brushed against my cheek, gentle and familiar... I paused as my eyes fluttered open.
It took a while to adjust to the soft light in the room but as my vision cleared, I saw myself staring into the eyes of the man I’d never thought I’d see again.
It was Lucas.
I was too shocked to react. I just stood there staring at him as I watched his expression. It was a mix of relief, joy and something deeper, more intense. “Lily,” he breathed my name as if it was a prayer. “Thank the Moon Goodness, you’re alive! I knew you were alive,” his eyes filled up with tears, as he stroked my cheek more gently now, tracing my cheekbones. “I couldn’t believe you were dead. I had to find out, to see for myself. I’m so glad I did.”
“Lucas?” I whispered; my voice was hoarse from not being in use for a long time. “What are you doing here?” I asked.
Of all the scenarios I had played in my head of meeting Lucas sometime in the future, none of them pictured him standing by my bed nor did they picture him being the first person I’d see after surviving an illness.
“I was worried, Lily,” he said, lowering his flame slightly towards me “I missed you so much. I’ve not been able to function since you left. I miss you.” 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
I searched his eyes trying to understand the depth of his relief. We had been close in the past but there was something in the way he was looking at me now. It was different from before like he was actually scared of losing me. Silence hung between us,
His hand which was still on my cheeks, moved slowly as his gaze dropped to my lips. I felt his thumb trace the outline of my mouth, as desire – raw desire flickered into his eyes. My breath caught in my throat as he leaned closer to me now, his intentions were clear.
His warm breath fanned my face, I stilled, too confused to react and watched as his lips hovered over mine. Just as he was about to kiss me... the door of the bedroom burst open and there was Kai...
Standing in the doorway...his powerful frame filling the doorway.
