Alpha's Hidden Precious Luna-Chapter 27
Kai POV
“Had a great time?”
That was the first thing Liam said to me once we mind-linked after I came back home.
I was holding a glass of whiskey in my hand and in my annoyance, I might have held it a bit too tightly. I stared at the shattered glass in my hand, the sharp edges biting into my skin, but the pain barely registered. The sting of betrayal, the irritation at Liam’s flippant question – I clenched my fist tighter around the shards, letting them cut deeper as if the physical pain could somehow drown out the storm inside me.
“Fuck off, Liam,” I snapped “If you have nothing useful to say to me tonight, please end the mind-link, I don’t want to talk to you,”.
There was a pause on the other end of the mind-link, I could feel Liam’s hesitation before he finally spoke, breaking the silence.
“I didn’t mean to piss you off, Kai,” Liam said carefully, his tone placating. “I’m so sorry about your mother finding out about your schedule too. She broke into my office and saw it herself. I’ll make sure something like that doesn’t happen again,”.
The apology did little to soothe my anger. My mother was always meddling, always trying to control every aspect of my life and it was suffocating but Liam could have been a bit careful. I took a deep breath, still ignoring Liam on the other end as I willed my wolf to calm down.
Slowly, I opened my fist, letting the shards fall to the floor, the blood from the cuts started to close up immediately but the frustration still lingered.
After another moment of silence, during which I could sense that Liam was gathering his thoughts, he finally spoke.
“What do you think about Lily?” Liam asked cautiously as if he was afraid that her name might trigger something unpleasant.
Instead, my heart skipped a beat at the mention of her name. Lily. The one person who occupied my thoughts day and night. The one person I couldn’t get out of my mind no matter how hard I tried. But this wasn’t just about infatuation – this was something deeper, something primal. My wolf was certain that Lily was our mate, even though she didn’t know it herself.
“What about her?” I replied, my tone guarded. I wondered where this conversation was going.
“Well, what would you do if she had no wolf?” Liam asked again.
“Where did you hear that from?” I asked instead.
Liam hesitated again. “It’s just that, I’ve been researching – about her original pack – Golden Moon Pack. The people didn’t like her much there, you know? Her father, Alpha Gregory never really valued her the way he did with her twin sister – not that they’re twins,” Liam corrected quickly “They just shared the same birthday and I also heard some rumours that Lily hasn’t been able to shift and she just turned 18,”.
I wasn’t surprised to say the truth. I’d suspected as much that she might not have a wolf.
“She’s my mate, Liam,” I finally confessed what I had been holding back. “My wolf knows it and I know it. There must be a reason she can’t shift and I’m willing to bet her father knows something about it,”.
“Right!” Liam agreed.
“Of course,” I continued “If she was so useless to them, wolfless as they claim she is, do you think they’ll be spending their time and money sending rogues to kill her? There has to be more to this than we know,”.
There must be something about Lily, something that her pack feared or didn’t understand. But whatever it was, it didn’t change the fact that she was my mate.
“Do you want me to invite her father over for an official meeting?” Liam asked, breaking the silence that had settled between us again.
I considered the offer momentarily, as I weighed the pros and cons. Meeting up with Lily’s father could expose Lily to him and could make him suspect that his daughter was in his pack. Still, I needed to know the truth, and the only way to get it was to confront the man.
“Fine!” I agreed “Set up a meeting but not on our territory. We’ll meet over the border,”.
“Sure thing, Alpha, I’ll make the meeting happen as soon as possible and give you feedback,”.
When the mind-link ended, I looked down at my hand again, the cuts had healed completely. The meeting with Lily’s father was a step forward to learn about my mate, but it was also a gamble. I had no idea what I would learn or how it would change things between me and Lily.
With a sigh, I stripped off my clothes, leaving them on the floor as I made my way to the bathroom. I needed to shower – something to clear my head, to wash away the tension that clung to me like a second skin.
But just as I reached the bathroom door, there was a knock at the door of my room.
“Alpha Kai? Kai?” a sweet and sultry voice that made my wolf growl with irritation called out. “I’ve brought dessert for you,”.
It was the she-wolf that my mom had forced me to go out with to dinner earlier that evening. I couldn’t believe that my mom had insisted she spend the night in our house, saying it was too late for her to go home. I know it was a way for her to push the girl to me more. But I had no interest in the girl. Her scent, her presence, everything about her grated on my nerves. She wasn’t my mate and would never be.
I clenched my fists, resisting the urge to open the door and tell her to leave. Instead, I called out, my voice cold.
“I’m not interested. Go away,”.
There was a pause, a moment of hesitation and then the sound of retreating footsteps. I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.
My wolf – Hud’s voice immediately filtered to my ears.
“I still have that girl’s scent on me,” he grumbled “And it’s so strong and lingering. An unpleasant reminder of all the things I didn’t want,”.
“Tell me about it!” I sighed.
“You know,” Hud continued “It’ll be good if it was Lily’s scent – her warmth, her presence...” he trailed off sighing with relish.
“You’re not the only one who wants it Hud...” I sighed again. “I want Lily as much as you want but you have to figure out a way to tell me how to make her shift. Once she shifts and gets her wolf, then she would be able to figure out that we’re mates and finally be together,”.
“But I don’t...”.
“Then shut up!” I said coldly and shut him off.
Exhaling deeply, I stepped into the shower and turned on the hot and cold shower at the same time. I placed my forehead on the wall tile, letting the hot water wash over me as I closed my eyes and tried to focus on the only thing that mattered – Lily.
I imagined her with me, right now in this shower. Her body pressed against mine. Her lips on mine, her scent filling up my nostrils, intoxicating me. My hands drifted to the lower part of my body. As the water cascaded down my body, I imagined it was Lily’s hand running up and down. I imagined how her skin would feel beneath my ginger. The taste of her lips on my tongue. I wanted her so badly, it hurt, a deep, aching need that pulsed through every fibre of my being. I imagined marking her, claiming her as my own, leaving no doubt in anyone’s mind that she belonged to me and me alone.
The pleasure built slowly, intensifying with each passing moment as I lost myself in the fantasy, my body responding to the images in my mind. I stroked myself, imagining Lily’s hands on me. As I reached the peak of my pleasure, a low growl escaped my lips, as my release washed over me in waves that left me breathless. I moaned Lily’s name... as I felt myself cum over and over again in my hand.
But even in the aftermath... the ache remained...and I knew it wouldn’t be satisfied until she was truly mine.
