After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 489 - 191: Betting on the Survival of the World
Outside the Twin Towers.
It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Jed had silently stepped back a few paces, distancing himself from the oppressive atmosphere.
"Miss Eden, was she someone important to you?" Letixia’s cherry lips parted slightly as her delicate hands unconsciously gripped her dress.
Xi Mu pondered for a moment and responded off-topic, "I killed her with my own hands and also failed her last request before she died."
Letixia was slightly taken aback, not expecting Ahtal to respond this way. She suddenly didn’t know how to react, whether to comfort Ahtal for killing Eden and tell him not to feel guilty, or to blame Ahtal for what he did. From any standpoint, she had no right to speak, as there must be undisclosed secrets involved.
And not having been by Ahtal’s side through it all, she had nothing she could say.
"Take the Sword of Light back with you." Xi Mu walked to the edge of the railing, looking at the realm of omniscience’s towering skyscrapers, and said to Letixia who was approaching him slowly, "Despite Ragnarok soon approaching, it’s still solvable."
Letixia raised her hand to gently gather her golden sandy hair by her ear and gave Ahtal a soft, beautiful smile, "That’s really great."
"Before the new era arrives, you still need to protect yourself." Xi Mu rested his hands on the railing, a light breeze tousling his black hair at the forehead, "Though they, seeing it on my account, should also ensure your life is without worries."
"Why should it be on their account?" Letixia sensed something unusual, her heart suddenly tightened, and she hastily asked Ahtal, "Why can’t that person be you?"
"You’re right about that..." Xi Mu was slightly taken aback, then smiled and asked Letixia, "After the new era arrives, is there anything you want to do?"
"What do I want to do?" Letixia turned around, looking at the bustling scene of the realm of omniscience, her hands clasped behind her back, "If possible I want to live by the sea with you, in a house that doesn’t have to be big, and then maybe keep one or two cute pets."
She turned to Ahtal with a beautifully gentle smile, describing the life she longed for.
"Of course, as the queen of the Iris Flower Kingdom, I can’t just abandon my duties. Perhaps when we have children, we can let our kids take over the throne."
"By then you probably won’t need to manage things personally anymore," Xi Mu chuckled, pinching his chin playfully, "Just find a guy who is good at managing to come to the Iris Flower Kingdom. No need to wait for the children to grow up and inherit the throne."
"You’re right, that really is an unambitious idea." Letixia showed a wry smile, placing her hand lightly over her chest, "This idea was born when you weren’t as formidable as you are now, it might be outdated now."
Xi Mu laughed: "It sounds pretty nice."
"Back then I hoped that you could become the King of the Iris Flower Kingdom." Letixia’s voice grew softer, her delicate face reddening, yet she spoke on, "When we grow old, we could walk toward the end of our lives surrounded by our children, then proudly tell my father in Hell,
’This man is my hero, my only husband and lover.’"
"Such a life really does sound tempting," Xi Mu smiled gently, then said softly, "Unfortunately, that’s not suitable for me."
"Yes, I know," Letixia’s complexion turned pale. She then took a deep breath, gently lowered her eyelids, "But I’ll still yearn for that kind of life because you are the only hero I’ve ever adored."
"Actually, I am quite a terrible guy," Xi Mu said, looking at the disheartened Letixia, "But in the next life, maybe we can try that kind of life."
"It doesn’t necessarily have to be in the next life." Suddenly, Jed spoke, facing the gaze from Ahtal and Letixia, scratched his cheek, and said:
"Once the God of Omniscience is defeated, there’ll be so much time that you literally can’t run out of it. You could try doing everything you’ve ever wanted all over again."
"..." Letixia, looking at an embarrassed Jed, chuckled lightly: "If Jed is interested, he could join us too."
Jed’s expression suddenly stiffened, looking at Letixia’s smiling face, his heart rate suddenly skyrocketing, his body becoming hot all at once.
"If the boss is willing to keep hiring me," she said, her gaze flickering everywhere, trying to keep her tone natural, "Such strong support from a boss like you, if I can cling to it, I definitely won’t let go."
"I’ve never fired you," Xi Mu smiled, watching Jed’s increasingly unnatural expression, casually changing the topic:
"Right, later you should leave with the Goddess of Life."
Jed immediately picked up the topic, showing an unnaturally surprised look: "Are we to stay in the high heavens?"
"With Ragnarok approaching, the environment will only get worse." Xi Mu explained, "On your own, you wouldn’t be able to survive."
Letixia asked instinctively, "Will the environment become like when the Tree of Omniscience was burned?"
The sight of the Tree of Omniscience being burned was witnessed by almost everyone worldwide; that horrific scene was basically uninhabitable by any life.
Even gods would turn to ashes in such an environment.
"To turn into that kind of environment would take a few years, at least," Xi Mu pondered, "unless I intentionally set the world on fire, or someone continuously interferes with time. That might accelerate the full arrival of Ragnarok."
