After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 397 - 147 The First Humans_2
For example, those participating in the competition must be life from the current era, and then have the Witch of Death crush Adam to death.
Of course, dealing with Adam now would be even better.
...
...
Cold sweat dripped down.
Adam twitched the corners of his mouth, looking at the sexy, blue-haired beauty across from him, wrapped in bandages, and unconsciously gripped the knight’s sword beneath his cloak.
He didn’t dare let his mind wander for even a second, otherwise, he would die instantly. Despite his claim to possessing all of humanity’s talents, he had no certainty of victory when facing a witch of this level, and even the prospect of surviving seemed extremely difficult. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"I didn’t expect the Witch to come and see me in person," he said, his amber eyes solemn, as he drew his knight’s sword halfway from its scabbard, "are you afraid that I will defeat Ahtal?"
"..." The Corpse Witch didn’t answer. She coldly observed her surroundings and noticed many gazes on her, all belonging to beings not inferior to her. This also indicated the presence of godly entities in the shadows.
"Hmph, I was just passing by," she flicked her aqua blue hair and turned to leave but was stopped by Adam calling out from behind.
"Please wait," Adam said, looking at the Witch who turned her head in surprise, revealing a sincere smile, "I would like to have a word with Ahtal?"
"Do you wish to die?" The Corpse Witch’s voice was ice cold, clearly filled with killing intent. This human was perhaps too arrogant.
In response, Adam raised both hands: "I just want to talk with him, with no provocation or ill intent."
"Come with me," the Corpse Witch withdrew her gaze, leading Adam to find Ahtal for a talk, and in passing, to inquire about Ahtal’s opinion on whether they should kill this relic early to avoid any interference with Ahtal’s ritual completion.
...
...
Coffee shop by the street.
"Adam?" Xi Mu put down his coffee cup, sizing up the man across from him with golden hair and amber eyes, smiling in anticipation, "how about we start fighting now?"
It was just as expected.
The Corpse Witch sighed quietly from the side; she had already given up asking Ahtal if they should kill Adam in advance. Ahtal’s immediate reaction upon hearing about Adam was an eager desire to fight, so he definitely wouldn’t allow them to kill Adam ahead of time.
"I have no chance of winning right now," Adam said, very straightforward. He wasn’t being modest—just stating a very objective fact. The man opposite him could hardly be considered human anymore and also possessed powerful graces bestowed by witches and goddesses.
"Is that so," Xi Mu reined in his anticipatory smile, took a sip from his coffee cup, "then what brings you to me?"
Adam smiled and said, "I would like to see the All-Knowing Saintess."
"Why?" Xi Mu asked, watching Adam express a nostalgic look, his fingers gently rubbing the rim of the coffee cup.
"The Saintess, to me, is very important."
"I refuse," Xi Mu answered immediately, causing Adam to be slightly startled, but then he understood why Ahtal would refuse without a second thought.
"Lord Ahtal, do you know the history from fifty thousand years ago?" Adam asked, explaining to the puzzled Ahtal, "I am the first human ever created, fostered beneath the Tree of Omniscience."
He took a sip of his coffee and immediately frowned.
"Why do humans of this era like to drink something so bitter?"
"If it’s bitter, just add some sugar," Xi Mu pointed to the sugar cubes on the table. After Adam took a few and put them in his cup,
"But back to the point, the first created humans were all cared for by the All-Knowing Saintess," Adam said as he stirred his coffee, explaining to Ahtal, "Back then, Eve and I caused the Saintess a lot of trouble."
He fell into reminiscence.
"Sneaking out in the middle of the night, starting to climb the Tree of Omniscience, wanting to witness the realm of the All Gods firsthand, but halfway up, we ran out of strength and ended up being brought back home by the Saintess."
"You’re getting off topic," Xi Mu remarked, prompting a sheepish smile from Adam, who took a sip from his stir-finished coffee and showed a satisfied smile.
"Sorry, that’s how it is when you get old."
He brushed back the golden hair from his forehead.
"Don’t be fooled by my youthful appearance, I’m actually an old man who has lived to die a natural death," he said.
"Since you’re an old man, you shouldn’t be adventuring anymore," Xi Mu chuckled softly, "otherwise I might be accused of bullying the elderly."
"Now I am considered a young man," Adam smiled gently, "this way you understand my relationship with the All-Known Saintess, right?"
His gaze was nostalgic.
"For Eve and me, the Saintess was like a mother figure, she was responsible for teaching us to grow, to rightly perceive the world, until she expelled us from the reach of the Tree of Omniscience."
"That woman’s personality doesn’t seem like someone who would expel you," the Corpse Witch frowned slightly, although she had met the All-Knowing Saintess only a few times, she could understand how gentle the Saintess was.
"That is also what I want to know," Adam said, "I want to know why the Saintess would expel Eve and me."
Initially, he and Eve lived carefree under the Tree of Omniscience, holding great respect for the All-Knowing Saintess, yet on the day they became adults, they were expelled by her.
Resentment was not quite the word for it; he and Eve had the power to fend off hunger in the outside world, but they just didn’t understand why they would be expelled by the All-Knowing Saintess.
In the past, he and Eve were quite mischievous, but they were always gently forgiven by the All-Knowing Saintess, who patiently taught them what was right and wrong.
So there must be another reason for their expulsion.
"..." Xi Mu pondered for a moment, then stood up, leaning on the desk, "Come on, I’ll take you to see Eden."
"Thank you," Adam said, expressing his gratitude and following Ahtal’s footsteps, finally fulfilling his wish.
"The first humans?" The Corpse Witch held her chin with one hand, watching the backs of the two walk away, "There’s something very problematic about that woman from Eden."
The fact that she personally raised and educated the first humans signifies that Eden’s existence predates human history, yet such an entity has remained by Ahtal’s side, and the Witch of Death has always tacitly allowed her existence.
No matter how one thinks about it, there seems to be a problem.
...
...
On the coastal cliff.
The sea breeze blew, stirring Eden’s golden locks as she turned to look at Ahtal and Adam approaching, gently lowering her gaze.
"Saintess, it’s been a long time," Adam raised his hand in greeting, smiling as Eden nodded slightly to him.
He asked with a smile.
"I thought I’d never have the chance to see you again, but thanks to All Gods reviving me from death, I have the opportunity to meet with you..."
Eden said softly, "You are not Adam."
"..." Adam’s nostalgic expression faded, and he swiftly returned to normal, "Then who am I?"
Eden answered calmly, "You are the memory essence of Adam."
Adam himself had long been dead, had been reborn through Hell, and the Adam now before her was but a memory essence.
It would not be wrong to think of it as a historical shadow of Adam.
"A memory essence is enough," Adam said with unexpected nonchalance, not minding that he was not the real Adam, "as long as my life’s mysteries are solved, I would be content even if I dissipate the next moment."
He had no major regrets in life; he had a wife and child he loved and lived a stable life until it ended naturally.
But if he had to name a regret, it was the desire to see the All-Knowing Saintess once more and to learn from her mouth why she expelled him and Eve.
"Is it time for a private conversation now?" Xi Mu turned calmly, seeming about to leave, but Adam grabbed his wrist.
He faced Ahtal’s puzzled gaze.
"There’s nothing to be shy about," Adam revealed a bright smile, "It wouldn’t be good if you started overthinking things later."
Xi Mu: "..."
What is there to misunderstand? This part of the plot is simply to disclose a secret from fifty thousand years ago and to add depth to Eden’s character.
