After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 396 - 147: The First Humans
Coastal nation of Doris.
The waves rushed toward the shore, engulfing a pair of jade feet before contentedly receding.
"Ahtal, you seem unhappy," a mature and gentle female voice entered his ears, directing Xi Mu’s gaze upward from the jade feet, over the slender waist and full peaks, to rest on a lovely face.
She held her wind-tousled white hair back with one hand, her ruby-like eyes reflecting Ahtal’s somber expression.
"Would you like to talk about it, given that I’m somewhat of an elder?"
"It’s nothing, I’m fine." Xi Mu withdrew his gaze, looking at the sun about to sink into the sea, "Madam, you should spend more time with Evelyn."
His voice was overly calm.
"You will be separated for a long time later."
"As long as I keep sulking around in the Church of Death, I won’t have to worry about being captured back to Hell, right?" White-haired housewife Ijelica laughed lightly, caressing her white long dress, and sat beside Ahtal, her pale jade feet playfully stirring the waves, sending droplets glittering in the sunlight.
"And you’ve sneakily asked Evelyn whether she would resurrect me, right?"
"The decision is yours." Xi Mu calmly replied; at the moment the Creation Witch returned, reviving someone who had died was an extremely simple matter.
Ijelica thought for a while, then gently smiled: "I haven’t decided about that yet, but I do know one thing." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
She met Ahtal’s gaze.
"Throwing tantrums is not something a mature man should do."
"Who’s throwing a tantrum?" Xi Mu subconsciously frowned, but saw Ijelica gently smiling as she stood up and ran towards her daughter and Shark Girl in the distance.
She was having fun with her daughter in the Church of Death, inadvertently leading their protector Shark Girl Kaschte astray.
Shaking his head, Xi Mu stood up and left, soon disappearing from everyone’s sight.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
"Okay, don’t worry." Ijelica raised her hand, rubbed White-haired Lolita’s head, her gentle smile filled with motherliness, "That man will soon snap out of his gloom; otherwise, he wouldn’t have made it this far."
"Lord Ahtar is indeed the most brilliantly talented person of this era." Shark Girl Kaschte said proudly, her tail flicking lightly behind her as the waves splashed.
They had an extraordinary confidence in Ahtar, able to make enemies of gods as a mere human, and now he was about to become a demon.
"This time... it’s a bit different." Evelyn shook her head slightly, her gaze worriedly following the direction Ahtar had left in. If Ahtar was currently facing a problem that wasn’t about force, then it was likely he was out of options.
This world isn’t just about resolve solving all problems; many issues are dilemmas yet require resolve nonetheless.
...
...
In a spacious hall.
"...Adam?" Luwei, flipping through the information, suddenly paused, carefully examined the sign-up sheet and her eyebrows furrowed slightly, "Have the All Gods brought out such an antique to defeat Ahtar?"
She remembered the records about Adam very clearly; the legendary Adam was the first human, possessing all human talents.
No human could possibly defeat Adam, because Adam had every ability a human could have, able to do everything a human could do.
One shouldn’t let Ahtar face such an... enemy.
Luwei clenched the sign-up sheet, her gaze turning icy. She stood up and left the hall, leaving hundreds of high-efficiency clones to continue working.
She had the ability to fragment her personality, not only able to create thousands of different personalities in her mind but also able to materialize those personalities into reality, thus enabling her to work on her own.
In a way, she alone could well manage a country, for she herself was a miniature society.
This was why Ahtar had chosen her to be the brain of the Church of Death, because only she could command the Church of Death most efficiently.
After some time.
In a garden.
"So, kill him?" the Corpse Witch holding the sign-up sheet, coldly asked Luwei, "Won’t Ahtar be displeased by that?"
Although she hadn’t been with Ahtar for very long, she understood him well enough; given Ahtar’s belligerent nature, he wouldn’t refuse someone capable of threatening him.
It could be said he would be delighted by it.
"Just don’t let Ahtar know about it." Luwei explained, "This man really could pose a threat to Ahtar."
"..." the Corpse Witch pondered; she didn’t want Ahtar to face any dangers either. If he could successfully become a demon, that would be the best outcome.
"Maybe we should ask Ahtar’s opinion?"
"If you want to ask Ahtar, that’s fine too." Luwei met the Corpse Witch’s surprised gaze and calmly explained, "This preemptive suppression probably won’t succeed; there must be gods secretly protecting Adam."
The Corpse Witch’s expression became nuanced: "Then why are you still sending me?"
"Give it a try, the best outcome would be to kill him directly." Luwei’s voice lacked any emotional fluctuation, "My task is to ensure Ahtar becomes a demon, so I will use any means, no matter how despicable."
"Alright, I’ll try not to cause any trouble and just kill him." The Corpse Witch smiled, dissolving into sand and disappearing on the spot.
Luwei thought for a moment, then turned and left the garden. She wasn’t worried that Ahtar would be defeated; the rules of this game were defined by the Church of Death. If Ahtar truly couldn’t win, then she would just change the rules of the game.
