After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 251 - 87 More Like a Dragon than a Dragon
Dawn was just breaking.
The Fenrir Kingdom.
The palace.
"Why did you invade my country?" Aegus knelt on the ground, his hands and feet pierced by chains, the seeping blood staining the floor red.
He glared angrily at the red-haired dwarf sitting on the throne.
"We shouldn’t have any conflicts of interest."
"Does the Dusk Cult need an interest to harm others?" the red-haired dwarf retorted. In the face of Aegus’ speechless expression, he explained:
"But such a poor country as yours indeed has little value to harm."
He lowered his head, fiddling with his fingers.
"We just want to use your lives to threaten Ahtal into handing over the Sword of Light."
Aegus: "..."
This unforeseen disaster; he knew Ahtal, a renowned hero who was an implacable enemy of the gods.
However, he never imagined having such an absurd involvement with Ahtal, the Dusk Cult attacking his kingdom to seize it for use as leverage against Ahtal.
This was too preposterous and too unlucky.
"Human, if you want your country back," the red-haired dwarf revealed a malicious smile, with a flame of madness seemingly burning, "you should be better at compelling the hero to compromise than we are, right?"
"What if Ahtal refuses to hand over the Sword of Light?" Aegus’s voice was low. Then he saw the red-haired dwarf’s smile turn malevolent as he gestured towards his neck, the implication was very clear.
If you can’t do it, then die.
...
...
The desolate mountains.
The morning sun broke through the gaps in the clouds, casting its light on the glistening white snow, reflecting a dim yellow hue.
"Without the prototype of the Sword of Light, the followers of the Dusk Cult can’t breach the barrier in a short time." Xi Mu leaned against a tree trunk, looking across at Eden, who was kneeling and earnestly roasting fish, and calmly analyzed:
"We must eliminate the source of fear as soon as possible."
"So what do you want to do?" Eden asked calmly, handing the roasted fish to Ahtal and said softly:
"Still thinking of summoning the Witch of Death?"
"Can’t we summon a god?" Xi Mu bit into the roasted fish, looking towards the clear river, "If I pray to the Goddess of Life, perhaps..."
"The situation hasn’t become unsalvageable yet." Eden shook her head and explained to Ahtal, "Before Suna’s return from death reaches its limit, there’s no reason for All Gods to personally eliminate the source of fear."
Xi Mu fell silent, quietly eating the roasted fish, noticeably deflated but not surprised at the reaction of the gods.
After the God of Omniscience was sealed, the gods of this world lost their leader, and aside from the Three Goddesses of Fate who could perform part of the governance, the gods were fragmented and each harbored their own intentions.
Unless a situation became particularly serious, the gods wouldn’t descend to the mortal realm to handle the problem.
This was both due to the risks involved and the fact that it hadn’t reached the necessity for them to intervene, unless Suna had already reached the limit of her return from death.
Only then would the Three Goddesses of Fate truly take action to resolve the issue.
"Since the gods are unwilling to ... intervene." He suddenly spoke, meeting Eden’s surprised gaze, "It might as well be me managing this world."
He uttered what seemed like an arrogant statement.
"If it were me, I could at least deal with the source of fear more quickly."
"Many share your thoughts," Eden’s voice remained calm, "If I were to manage this world, I would certainly do better than All Gods."
She and Ahtal exchanged glances.
"But before that, you would have to defeat the God of Omniscience."
"That’s really too difficult." Xi Mu took another bite of the roasted fish, speaking as if it was a joke, "If I could know the true extent of the God of Omniscience’s powers, perhaps there might be a chance."
"Debating this only makes sense once you become a demon," Eden shook her head gently, giving Xi Mu a careful look, then asked, "Ahtal, do you really want to become a demon?"
Xi Mu promptly answered, "Without a doubt."
Only after becoming a demon could he truly experience the sensation of chaotic killing, using his own power to make the entire world feel terror.
To eliminate him, gods and heroes exhausted all their cunning and courage just to defeat him.
And then he would crush them again; exhilarating.
"Can you tell me what your power is?" Eden asked unexpectedly, watching Ahtal’s astonished expression.
Normally, a person’s power was a very private matter. Unless it was guessed by someone else or there was another need, choosing to conceal one’s power was the norm. This not only prevented others from targeting it, but also ... allowed one to better face enemies.
So her asking about Ahtal’s power was in fact ... somewhat impolite, and being refused would be very normal.
Although she had no malice in inquiring about Ahtal’s power.
"It’s ’player’," Xi Mu casually replied, not concealing anything about his own power, which he didn’t regard as a secret worth hiding. After all, he didn’t rely on the ability of a ’player’ to fight.
And the reason Eden asked for the true nature of his power was just to ... let the Tree of Omniscience analyze it early, and thereby list the requirements for his ritual to ascend to demonhood.
For those who meet the conditions to become a demon, the ritual itself is the biggest obstacle. Everyone has different requirements, so naturally, the difficulty of execution varies too.
