After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 179 - 54 Dying Amidst a Crowd_2
"Won’t the waiting time for rebirth just get longer and longer?" Xi Mu continued to inquire, and Eden gave an answer.
"Each layer of Hell selects people from similar eras to linger. Their way of life and culture aren’t too different, so they can keep waiting in the corresponding layer of Hell for rebirth until that layer empties out."
"So that’s where the talk of the seven layers of Hell comes from, huh." Xi Mu pinched his chin and nodded with understanding.
To this, Eden shook her head.
"Hell isn’t just seven layers, even if a corresponding layer empties out, it will be preserved, continuously replaying everything from the past in the form of shadows of bygone days."
"It’s like a record of past histories and civilizations."
After thinking for a moment, Xi Mu asked, "So, the people who go to Hell, can they meet famous historical figures from the past?"
"Without the Goddess of Death’s permission, you’re not allowed to go to other layers of Hell." Eden shook her head.
The layers of Hell, divided by eras, are off-limits to wander about at will, to prevent interference with each other. Only with the Goddess of Death’s permission is free travel allowed.
"Sounds... quite interesting." Xi Mu seemed to look forward to it. He wasn’t very interested in the setup of Hell—that was just a setting prepared by the game officials for a reasonable expansion of the map, incidentally adding a sense of historical depth to the world.
In the game official’s description, each layer of Hell represents the direction of development of a past civilization. After the self-destruction of a civilization, it is preserved in the corresponding layer of Hell to record the bygone civilization.
What this actually looks like is just maps in different art styles.
"Hell is not a place of interest." Eden stood up, smoothing her clothes, and cautioned Xi Mu, "Hell is only a place that records the shadows of the past."
With that, she left Xi Mu’s room.
From her perspective, Hell was just a means for the Goddess of Death to store souls and record past civilizations, devoid of any future.

The next day.
Early morning.
The blizzard grew fiercer, nearly engulfing the entire Sky City in its swell. A sweeping view revealed a world clad in white, most people bundled up tightly against the cold.
But soon, they began to feel an oppressive heat.
"Roar!" The Red Dragon let out an angry roar, spewing searing Dragon Breath as if a red curtain descended from the sky, emitting heat that caused the temperature of Sky City to skyrocket in an instant.
The thick snow started to melt.
"What in the world is happening?" A young nobleman looked up at the sky, struggling to comprehend why there was a dragon in the sky.
After all, Siegfried, the King of Sky City, was a dragon-slaying Hero. By that logic,
dragons should be avoiding Sky City.
As if to validate his thought, the Red Dragon suddenly let out a mournful wail. One of its wings were ripped off, spewing scalding blood that fell into the city and burst into towering flames.
"Let’s take this fight elsewhere." A hearty laugh echoed through Sky City as Siegfried’s figure appeared before the people. He was seen holding the Red Dragon’s remaining wing with one hand, swinging and flinging it with great force.
The body of the Red Dragon was sent flying like a cannonball toward the outskirts of Sky City, and Siegfried’s figure vanished from the spot.
And the residents of Sky City, who had been worried, were put at ease upon seeing Siegfried effortlessly repel the dragon.
It was clear to everyone that Siegfried held the absolute advantage, and they had no need to fear the impact of the evil dragon.
Outside Sky City.
"You’re all too anxious." Siegfried punched hard, hitting the Red Dragon’s back with such force that scales shattered and flesh splattered.
The Red Dragon cried out in pain, falling like a meteor, leaving a red streak across the sky, crashing into a barren mountain.
The spreading blast, mixed with the flung blood, ignited the entire mountain, turning its color from snow-white to... blood-red.
The flickering fire began to melt the snow on the nearby hills.
Da-da-da—
Siegfried walked out from the flames, approaching the severely injured Red Dragon, transforming his hand into a blade, and pierced through the dragon’s neck.
The gushing blood engulfed him, and he was immersed in Dragon Blood, just like the first time he had slain a dragon.
To seize the power of a dragon was remarkably simple, first one had to master Dragonborn Magic, and second was to kill an evil dragon, bating in its Dragon Blood.
The knife-hand was withdrawn.
Siegfried stepped back, and the Red Dragon before him burned, turning into flames and vanishing into the air.
"The degeneration... has worsened." Lifting his hand, he glanced at his palm and noticed his nails had begun to sharpen, and real scales appeared on his wrist.
In about two or three days, he would transform into a dragon.
If another dragon attacked at this time, he would completely fall and become an evil dragon.
However, Siegfried looked up at a green dragon in the distance, speeding away, knowing he still had a bit of time to settle his affairs.
With this in mind, he flew towards Sky City.
In truth, he did not fear death; aside from his worries about his daughter, there wasn’t much he was attached to.
Power.
The kingdom.
Beauty.
In his eyes, they held no allure, given that he had long since... grown weary of them, leading to a somewhat empty life.
Meanwhile.
At the Dragon Kingdom’s Embassy.
"Rommel... is dead." Yimar stood in front of the window, hand on his forehead, "Siegfried’s strength, it surpassed our expectations."
"His abilities are too troublesome." The tall woman with blue hair and a cold voice looked back at Yimar and said,
"With his current state, just continue fighting intensively, and he might not be able to resist transforming into a dragon." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"You want to fight him?" Yimar looked at the mother dragon, tugging at the corner of his mouth, "Just so you know, I’m not going to risk my life betting against Siegfried."
He was a prince with plenty of good times ahead of him, unwilling to bet his life against Siegfried, especially since Siegfried didn’t have much time left.
To this, the mother dragon crossed her arms and responded coldly, "Since Rommel has been killed, it’s even less likely that I could defeat Siegfried."
Despite how quickly Siegfried had dispatched the Red Dragon, in reality, its strength was greater than both of theirs.
If Rommel could be easily killed, then they stood even less chance of winning, and now going to provoke Siegfried’s dragon transformation would be exceedingly foolish.
"Let’s just wait then; after all, three days isn’t long." Yimar made the decision to not provoke Siegfried’s transformation today.
The mother dragon rolled her eyes at this decision but didn’t object, as she herself couldn’t beat Siegfried, and the other dragons... were unwilling to face certain death. Thus, they could only wait, after all, three days was merely the length of a nap.
With that thought, she turned and left the office.
After her departure.
"Ah, to be a prince... yet to behave so subserviently." A pleasant young girl’s voice rang out, and from the ceiling, a puppet fell down.
The barely perceptible strings moved, manipulating the puppet’s body to perform movements and expressions close to that of a real person.
"Don’t you feel indignant?" The puppet girl came before Yimar with a cheeky grin, her expression very... malevolent.
Yimar remained silent in response.
Seeing this, the puppet girl shook her head in disappointment, then suddenly changed the subject, "How are the soldiers Ahtal asked you to hire coming along?"
"I can still handle this small matter well." Yimar nodded, having already spent a fortune hiring a large number of mercenaries, enough to make Siegfried’s funeral unprecedentedly grand.
"That’s good." The puppet girl nodded satisfactorily and then the strings began to pull, dragging her body back into the ceiling, disappearing into the void.
To let Siegfried die surrounded by people, that would be the most fitting end for a dragon-slaying hero.
