Chapter 142: Chapter 36 Lord Ash is Truly Ruthless_2

"Partner, this plan is of utmost importance; it will determine the future of this world, and whether I can learn about the powers of the God of Omniscience from the All-Knowing Saintess,"

"Only by understanding the true nature of the God of Omniscience’s powers can the Witch of Death—my teachers—stand a chance to overcome the God of Omniscience."

"You, too, wish to help the Monster Witch avenge herself, don’t you?" His calm words delineated the stakes and the profound impact on this world.

The little mare felt herself growing nervous just listening; she was actually involved in such a critical plan. Whether she could bring the All-Known Saintess to the canyon was tied to the future of this world.

Did that mean her failure in this task could cause a dramatic deviation in the future trajectory of the world?

It sounded extremely... heavy.

She instinctively wanted to refuse.

However, seeing the trusting gaze from Xi Mu, she hesitated, her hooves scuffing the ground.

Then she picked up Xi Mu’s map in her mouth.

She turned and headed towards the residence of the All-Knowing Saintess. After a few steps, she looked back at Xi Mu and found him offering her a trusting smile.

After a moment of silence, the little mare turned and ran off, vanishing from the line of sight of Xi Mu and the blindfolded nun like swift lightning.

"Let’s resolve this quickly," Xi Mu withdrew his gaze, put on a black cloak, and then donned a mask to disguise his face.

He then proceeded to the Hundred Eyes Tower with the blindfolded nun.

Outside the tower, a dwarf wearing an eye patch seemed to have been waiting expectantly outside the door, one hand wielding a greatsword embedded with nine eyeballs. The blinking eyes on the sword sent chills down the spine.

"Another saintess of the Dusk Cult coming to try and take back her eyes?" he asked with disdain, lifting the greatsword.

"You all..."

"No, we’ve come to make a trade," Xi Mu waved his hand, showing no sign of hostility and pulled out the Great Sword of Death, planting it into the ground.

"Exchange this sword for the eyes of my nun."

"..."

The eye-patched dwarf glanced at the Great Sword of Death. Although he was unaware of the sword’s true essence, he could feel its abundant aura of death.

He didn’t need to test it to know it was a fine weapon.

"I only accept monetary transactions," he replied calmly. People who traded weapons might turn hostile later and attempt to reclaim them, leaving him with nothing.

A bank transfer, however, meant that even if he was killed, the money couldn’t be reclaimed.

Therefore, no matter what treasures of immeasurable value were offered, he would not break his principle of only accepting money.

"That’s agreeable," Xi Mu responded unexpectedly promptly, taking out a specially patterned bank card, showcasing the requisite financial resources.

The eye-patched dwarf nodded at this, then turned to the blindfolded nun and said, "You’ve got yourself a fine man."

He gestured towards the open door behind him.

"Go in and retrieve your eyes, but don’t think about taking them and reneging on the deal. The jar that seals the eyes is enchanted with magic; if it encounters any attempt at violent breach, it will explode. Only I can disarm the magic."

"..." The blindfolded nun looked instinctively at Xi Mu and, upon receiving his approval, stepped into the Hundred Eyes Tower.

"Is she worth it?" the dwarf with the eye patch asked Xi Mu, "Even if she’s quite attractive, she doesn’t have many years left."

He slung the eye-studded greatsword over his shoulder.

"If you merely wanted a beautiful woman, with the money you’ve spent on these eyes, you could easily find a better replacement."

Xi Mu replied offhandedly, "She is irreplaceable."

If he didn’t need the dwarf with the eye patch to unlock the seal, he would have already made a move to kill him.

For now, he could only wait patiently.

After all, following the canonical Ashen Path storyline, he wouldn’t have needed to pay for the blindfolded nun’s eyes; the Dusk Cult would have willingly offered them.

However, he had not joined the Dusk Cult, nor had he followed the blindfolded nun’s guidance along the canonical Ashen Path.

Thus, what could have been easily obtained now required more effort to acquire. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

But it wouldn’t take much time.

"In this world, no one is truly unique," the one-eyed dwarf sneered, "The saintesses of the Dusk Cult are not special, merely a group of material captured to sense the imminent Ragnarok, not only short-lived but also quite average in strength."

The primary duty of the saintesses cultivated within the Dusk Cult was to communicate with the onset of Ragnarok, and they received little training in any other aspect.

They were taught certain prayers on the supportive side.

Of course, this isn’t to say the saintesses of the Dusk Cult were necessarily weak; if one received special favor from Ragnarok, they could hold immense power.

However, these specially favored saintesses would have already been worshipped by the Dusk Cult as sacred figures, not left to wander outside.

Nor would they need to seduce men to help buy back their eyesight.

"She is unique," Xi Mu repeated, then looked towards the blindfolded nun emerging from the tower and asked,

"Are you certain these are your eyes?"

"Yes... Ash... correct, they are my eyes," the blindfolded nun instinctively started to show respect but then swallowed her words, remembering that Lord Ash’s identity should temporarily remain concealed, even though these followers of the Dusk Cult couldn’t comprehend the importance of the word "Ash."

"Here’s the money, release the sealing magic on the bottle," Xi Mu said, handing over a bank card to finish the transaction with the professional and straightforward one-eyed dwarf, who unsealed the glass jar to let the blindfolded nun reclaim her eyes.

He even gave Xi Mu a reminder.

"Any saintess who recovers her own eyes will gradually start to go mad, falling into a state more insane than the followers of the Dusk Cult."

His tone seemed kind-hearted, or it could have been malevolent.

"If I were you, I’d kill her before she goes mad; otherwise, in a moment of intimacy, she might suddenly bite you to death."

"That’s none of your concern," Xi Mu retorted, seizing the blindfolded nun’s wrist and leading her down the mountain.

As they left under the watchful eye of the one-eyed dwarf, they disappeared into the dense forest.

"Hmph, also... it’s time to move," the one-eyed dwarf snorted coldly, considering that being discovered meant others would also learn of his whereabouts.

So, it was time for him to move the Hundred Eyes Tower elsewhere.

However.

Light suddenly shot forth from the distance, piercing through both the one-eyed dwarf and the Hundred Eyes Tower before he could react.

And with it, the towering Hundred Eyes Tower also collapsed.

Xi Mu stood on the hillside, coldly witnessing the scene, then turned to the blindfolded nun beside him and ordered, "Take me to the gorge, quickly."

"Yes," the blindfolded nun dared not delay, lifting Xi Mu around the waist and promptly vanishing into a blaze of light from their spot.

Soon after,

Xi Mu arrived at the edge of the gorge and calmly commanded the blindfolded nun, "You should go back to the teacher and have them install your eyes."

No sooner had he spoken than he leaped into the gorge unhesitatingly, simultaneously pulling out a dagger and plunging it into his own stomach before plunging into the river within the gorge.

Water splashed, blood stained the clear stream red, and Xi Mu allowed himself to drift downstream, not showing a trace of hesitation throughout the ordeal.

The blindfolded nun held the glass jar containing her eyes, seemingly at a loss, but after seeing the look Xi Mu cast her from the river,

she obediently turned and left.

Lord Ash was ruthless in his pursuit of the All-Knowning Saintess, especially towards himself.

To simulate a gravely wounded state, he had used the Sword of Light to drain all his Magic Power, and without any hesitation, dove off a cliff, inflicting a wound upon himself.

Now, Lord Ash was truly weakened and severely injured.

The river flowed on.

Xi Mu’s body drifted to the shore, struggling to crawl, managing to get half of his body onto the riverbank.

He appeared like someone who had been through a great battle, fled from pursuers, been forced to jump off a cliff, and was finally washed ashore by the river.

The weakness was real.

The injury was real.

The unconsciousness was feigned.
