After Rebirth: The Alpha Ex-Husband Is Addicted to Me-Chapter 228: I’m Pregnant (Part 32)
"I didn’t randomly pick someone to marry." Lily Green smiled slightly, "If I did randomly choose a man to marry, then any of the many who came to the matchmaking event tonight could do. If I’m destined to marry someone from an arranged setup, why not marry someone I know well? This way, there won’t be any troublesome issues. If you weren’t part of the matchmaking, I wouldn’t even have considered this. Isn’t this just perfect timing? Elijah, aren’t our situations the same? You don’t have a woman you like, and your mom is urging you to marry, why not give it a try? I’m not giving up, I’m just accepting fate."
"Do you want to live separate lives after marriage, just like when you were single?"
Lily Green shook her head, "I don’t have that idea; if I wanted to live like that, I wouldn’t get married. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time. I went to the matchmaking on my own will. Elijah, I am no longer seeking passionate love; I only seek a calm, enduring marriage."
"No regrets?"
"Absolutely no regrets."
"Then let’s go inside, they’ve all been waiting impatiently."
The moment the two entered, the people in the living room were wondering if things were going to fall through.
"Son, what did you two decide?"
"Marriage."
Elijah’s mother excitedly shook hands with Lily’s mother, "That’s wonderful, we’re going to be relatives now!"
Lily’s mother nodded with a smile, "Yes, indeed."
Surprisingly, Grandma Green was very satisfied, "Since everyone’s gathered, let’s set a date."
"Let me check the dates." Grandpa Green took out a calendar, "November is getting cold." Grandpa Green said, "How about November 26th, giving us half a month to prepare?"
"The wedding can be on the 26th, but before the ceremony, first get the marriage certificate." Grandma Green pressed, "Once the marriage certificate is obtained, we can rest assured in preparing for the wedding."
The Sheppards didn’t quite understand what she meant, given that the Green Family hadn’t leaked anything about Lily Green and Logan Moore’s past to outsiders.
But the Green Family understood her meaning clearly; Grandma Green wanted it to be a done deal. In her view, an alliance with the Sheppard Family was excellent.
"We’ll get the certificate tomorrow." Lily Green declared, "As for the wedding house, Elijah and I will discuss it privately."
Elijah’s mother was all smiles, knowing she could have Lily Green as her daughter-in-law; she felt so dignified.
In her eyes, Lily Green had an impeccable private life, never heard of having boyfriends, a genius student from a prestigious university, from an illustrious family, currently the Vice President of the Green Group, and beautiful — she had too many virtues.
"My son is so blessed to marry Lily. Elijah, make sure to go home and pay respects to our ancestors later; it’s all thanks to their blessing."
There was laughter all around the living room. Elijah Sheppard rubbed his forehead, wondering why, in his mother’s eyes, he seemed so inadequate?
What’s the reason?
Is he really her own son?
Could he have been picked up?
This marriage seems to be settled; Jacob Green was genuinely happy for them.
Actually, he didn’t expect Elijah Sheppard to have anything to do with Lily Green because he knew clearly that Lily Green didn’t love Elijah, nor did Elijah love her.
They were a pair with no sparks at all.
Becoming a couple was indeed surprising.
However, he was optimistic about them.
Because of Elijah’s good nature, even if Lily Green didn’t love him, living with Elijah wouldn’t feel dull; it would be interesting. He knew Elijah wouldn’t dare bully Lily Green unless he wanted to die.
Leaving the Green Family’s old house, Elijah Sheppard went with Lily Green to a bar, as they had to align on some matters tonight before getting the certificate tomorrow.
They booked a private room, ordered a bottle of alcohol, and drank while chatting.
"According to custom, you should live with the man’s family after marriage; where are you living now?"
"Number 6, Watercloud Villas."
Lily Green nodded, "Okay, after getting the certificate tomorrow, I’ll bring my luggage over."
"If you don’t like the home decor, you can change it anytime. You can also dismiss any servants you don’t like, as you’ll be the lady of the house. You have the right to make decisions about anything concerning our family."
"When do we take the wedding photos?"
"How about tomorrow? Since both of us are quite busy, we can have the measurements for wedding attire taken, then have the photos taken."
Lily Green agreed, "Sure, should we meet tomorrow then?"
"It’s not like we can’t continue seeing each other tonight."
Lily Green’s lips curled slightly, and she stood up with her bag, "I’m leaving."
Out the door of the private room, her gaze turned somber.
After walking a few steps, she turned back into the room.
Elijah, who was just standing up, saw her return and asked in confusion, "What’s wrong?"
The frank words she wanted to say got stuck in her throat again, if it’s in the past, why bring it up again?
"It’s nothing." She shook her head, "Let’s go together."
——
The next day, the news that Elijah Sheppard and Lily Green were to be married on the 26th of this month created quite a stir.
Who is Elijah Sheppard? A talented, versatile famous singer, debuting for seven years, with one album each year, every single one a hit, with numerous awards.
Aside from being an idol, he is the only son of the Sheppard Family; Elijah’s father is the director of the press office of Country Y’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and his mother is a renowned commercial investor.
Precisely because he is an only child and his mother worried he’d find someone indiscriminately in the entertainment circle, she hoped he would marry earlier.
Lily Green’s identity needs no further mention, Vice President of Green Group, a career woman, in no way less than Elijah Sheppard.
This is precisely why, after the marriage was exposed, Elijah’s fans had no criticisms to offer.
Being part of the entertainment industry has one downside, when an artist gets married, questionable ex-girlfriends or rumored ones pop up to seek attention.
Elijah Sheppard had dated two girlfriends before, his first love during school years, a long time ago and others’ first loves might be vivid memories, but for him, he could hardly remember what his first love looked like.
The second girlfriend was an actress in the entertainment industry, Elizabeth, once a hot star, but her popularity had significantly waned.
When Elijah Sheppard dated Elizabeth, he initially felt good about it; as they spent more time together, he found his girlfriend to be a foolish, mentally unstable person, who scared him. It took him a while to break free from her clutches.
It was because of Elizabeth’s impact that Elijah never dated anyone after that till now.
The two of them broke up three years ago, haven’t contacted each other since, and when he encountered Elizabeth, Elijah would run faster than a rabbit.
His long-uncontacted ex-girlfriend posted a congratulatory tweet the day his marriage certificate was issued.
Content: [In the past, you were still a boy in my eyes; three years gone by, you have become a true man in my eyes. Congratulations on your marriage.]
Although the tweet didn’t tag Elijah Sheppard directly, anyone could easily tell who she was addressing from a distance.
