After Rebirth, I Took Revenge On My Scumbag Ex-Alpha Mate!-Chapter 11: Her Desperate Plea
KALIA
My heart sank at his words as tears gathered in my ears. I forcefully blinked them away but he didn’t seem to care, not one bit.
After turning me down, he started gathering up the files that he was working on and stuffed them into his suitcase hurriedly as if he couldn’t wait to get out of here as soon as he possibly could.
I watched him do so until he was done clearing out the once littered table. When he finished, he paid for his drinks and exited the building but right then and there, I knew that I wouldn’t just let him leave without achieving what I came here to do.
So I picked up my bag and chased after him. He was about to enter his car when I cornered him and stretched out my arms wide apart to stop him so that he couldn’t leave.
"Yes, you’re right." I admitted sadly yet bluntly. "Whatever I’m about to do is selfish, reckless and stupid but I don’t have a choice."
"I know that I’m desperate and dragging you into this without any benefit on your end, isn’t the best way to go about it but there’s nothing I can do about this anymore." I blurted out, tears streaming down my face.
I expected him to push me out of the way but he didn’t. His driver was about to do it on his behalf but Darren gestured him to back off for a while with a nod of his head and he did, giving us some space to talk.
"You have no idea what I’ve been through all these years. The things that I’ve had to endure all on my own as a bastard, orphaned child who doesn’t belong in her own family and as a fiance to someone who considers me worthless." I sniveled but continued.
"Callum only wanted to marry me for selfish reasons. He only used me to get closer to my stepsister because she’s the real daughter of my father and when he didn’t have any use for me anymore, he planned to discard me."
"He has been cheating on me and never seemed to care. I lost my ch—" I almost blurted out but quickly stopped myself from speaking. He didn’t need to know about a past he wasn’t involved in.
"I was humiliated by both families," I said instead. "I was played a fool by a man I loved and almost called my husband."
"You have sisters don’t you?" I asked with tear filled eyes. Hoping that he sees reasons with me just once.
"If one of them was ever in my shoes, going through such pain and comes crying to you, her brother for help, would you just sit back and watch? Would you turn her away?"
"Would you let her go through such pain and ordeal all on her own without intervening? Wouldn’t you at least try to help her out and see that she gets justice for herself?"
"But what you’re asking of me—"
I wiped my eyes aggressively and clasped both hands together. My eyes were casted down in a desperate plea. "I know that it would cost you so much and I know that you would have to sacrifice a lot to help me but I don’t have any other options Darren."
"It has to be you. It must be you. I don’t mind giving you time to think about it if you want to but I just need you to agree to this. I need you to tell me that you will help me out."
He ran his hands through his neatly cut hair and paced a few feet away from his car before walking back to where I stood. We remained like that for a while.
The silence deafening and heartbreaking. At this point, I was shameless and I wholeheartedly accept it but I didn’t want him to reject my proposal otherwise, it’d be over for me. I would be crushed to the point of no return and I mean literally.
I need to change my fate and make those people pay.
"Charles!" He called out to his driver and I whipped my head up to see his driver running towards us.
Too many thoughts were running through my mind at the moment. Has he refused to help me? Does he want to go home despite everything that I had just told him?
"Yes, Sir." His driver answered with his head bowed down slightly, awaiting his command.
"Give me your car keys." He stretched out his hands towards me, his eyes fixated on mine.
I wanted to ask why he needed them but I decided against it. Instead, I reached into my bag and pulled it out before handing it over to him.
"Where is it parked?" He went further to ask and with shaky hands, I pointed it out to him.
He took the keys and threw it at his driver who caught it mid-air.
"Drive the lady’s car back to her family’s house and if they ask you any further questions, just tell them that you came to drop off her car because she’ll be spending the night at my place."
"Come back home immediately after you do so and do not answer any other questions that they might ask you." He ordered and the driver sprinted away to do exactly as he had been told.
My jaw dropped to the ground. Does this mean that he has accepted my proposal already? 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
He had taken the keys to his car from the driver before he left and walked to the other side of his car to open up the door to the front seat.
"Are you coming or are you just going to stand there like some statue on display?" He said and I quickly ran over to his side.
"Listen, If you’re going to be my woman for a few months Kalia, then you should always strive to act like one and keep up with me while you’re at it, do you understand?" He asked and I nodded my head nervously.
He gestured with his eyes for me to enter and I did so hurriedly. When I was well settled in, he shut the door and joined me at the front to take the wheels.
"A-Are we really going to your house?" I asked as I watched him fasten his seatbelt and he nodded his head in response.
"But why there?" I asked further.
"Fasten your seatbelt Kalia." He instructed instead and I reached out to pull it but it was stuck somehow, making me struggle as I tried to force it out.
"I think it’s stuck and—" I was saying and my breath hitched when I turned to see his face incredibly close to mine, only a few inches apart.
His breath fanned my face as his gaze was fixated on mine. I closed my eyes shut and seconds later, I heard a clicking sound.
I opened them to see that he had already fastened it for me and pulled away.
"You want us to get married don’t you?" He asked and I nodded. "And how can we do that if you’ve never been to my house?"
"We have to make everyone believe that we’re serious about this; that we’re interested in each other, at least until we tie the knot as husband and wife."
"You can lay back and rest because it’s going to be a long ride home." He said to me, ome last time before pulling out of the restaurant.
