After Prison I Rushed into Marriage with a Comatose Tycoon-Chapter 40: Bury Them, Then
Eliza Sutton tilted her head to the side, dodging it.
The man with the limp chuckled lewdly. "What are you dodging for, little beauty? You’re going to die anyway. Why not have a little fun before you go?"
The tall man frowned, annoyed. "Stop messing around. Business comes first. Hurry up and check if this woman has any money on her phone."
The man with the limp quickly pulled the phone from Eliza Sutton’s body, turned it on, and unlocked it. He was instantly thrilled when he opened the banking app.
"Boss, there’s money. Real money! This woman has over ten million in her account. Who would’ve thought?"
The way the tall man looked at Eliza Sutton changed as well.
Eliza Sutton feigned fear and said, "You see? I’m rich. Can you let me go now?"
"Not so fast. We haven’t transferred the money yet. What’s the password?"
"If I tell you the password, you have to let me go."
"Stop babbling. Would I lie to a woman like you?" the tall man said, extremely impatient.
Eliza Sutton shivered and, with a look of terror, recited her password.
Soon, a notification sound chimed on the kidnapper’s phone, indicating the money had arrived.
The tall man was ecstatic.
The man with the limp said, "Boss, we just got a huge score. Shouldn’t we... celebrate?"
As he spoke, he leered at Eliza Sutton, his intentions clear.
"You’re pathetic!" the tall man cursed. But he knew his brother’s vices. He added with disgust, "Make it quick. Don’t hold up our real business. We still have to answer to the client."
"Got it. Thanks, Boss." The man with the limp could no longer contain himself. He immediately rubbed his hands together and walked toward Eliza Sutton.
The other men, watching with envy, couldn’t hold back either and crowded around.
The tall man sighed in resignation and cursed, "Pathetic!"
Soon, a series of THUDS echoed.
The tall man sensed something was wrong. He turned to look, just as a gust of wind seemed to rush past him. A moment later, he was on the ground, kicked there by Eliza Sutton.
With a flick of her wrist, Eliza Sutton broke free from the ropes binding her.
She kicked the tall man’s body and snorted coldly, "You’ve got some nerve, trying to steal my money!"
The tall man was already unconscious. After being kicked, he didn’t even twitch.
Eliza Sutton then found more rope in the van, tied up the kidnappers, and tossed them into a pre-dug pit like sacks of potatoes.
The five kidnappers came to their senses all at once. The first thing they saw when they opened their eyes was Eliza Sutton standing at the edge of the pit.
Her slender figure blended into the darkness. In the moonlight, her eyes glinted with a piercing cold light, making her look like a demoness descended from the heavens.
Even for men who were usually fearless, the five kidnappers in the pit now felt a stir of dread.
The man with the limp stammered, "Who... who are you? What are you going to do to us?"
Eliza Sutton couldn’t help but laugh. "I’m the hostage, and you’re asking who I am? Isn’t that a little funny?"
’Well... I guess it is.’
"We ran into a tough one with you. We give up. What do you want?" the tall man asked.
"Good that you know when to give up. Let’s have a chat first." Eliza Sutton’s voice was low and menacing as she asked, "Who hired you to kidnap me? And who told you about the child?"
From the moment she had gotten out of the car and stood at the orphanage entrance, Eliza Sutton had known it was a trap.
She had only played along to find out what they were up to. She never expected them to have such a death wish.
"Forget it! We won’t talk! It’s the rule not to sell out a client!" the tall man said resolutely.
The other four kidnappers also shouted defiantly, "Don’t even think about getting the client’s information from us!"
Eliza Sutton nodded, her tone full of praise. "Fine. You’re all very loyal. Since you won’t talk, you can be buried here."
Eliza Sutton’s voice suddenly turned frigid. She picked up a nearby shovel and began filling the pit with dirt.
The kidnappers, with faces full of dirt, couldn’t stop themselves from cursing at Eliza Sutton.
Eliza Sutton paid them no mind, shoveling dirt like an unfeeling machine.
Soon, the dirt had formed a shallow layer over their bodies.
Watching Eliza Sutton’s cold, indifferent expression, the kidnappers had a sinking feeling.
Eliza Sutton was actually going to bury them alive.
The kidnappers panicked and immediately screamed, "We’ll talk! We’ll talk!"
Eliza Sutton finally stopped shoveling. She crouched by the pit and tilted her chin. "Speak."
"About the child... we don’t actually know anything. The client told us that if you showed up, we just had to mention the child to lure you in. We didn’t expect her to be right—you fell for it hook, line, and sinker."
"As for the client, we don’t have much information. They only contacted me through a single channel and used a voice changer when they spoke."
Eliza Sutton found their phone and tossed it into the pit. "Call them back."
The man with the limp said, "Our hands are tied, we can’t make a call. Untie us first."
"Yeah, untie us first."
"Can’t make a call, huh? Then there’s no need for you to keep your hands." As she spoke, a dagger slid into her palm, gleaming with a sinister light.
The kidnappers’ scalps tingled with fear. They immediately said, "We’ll call! We’ll call right now!"
"We’re sorry, the number you have dialed is not in service..."
The kidnapper held up the phone. "It’s a dead number. You can’t blame us for that."
"Make another call." Eliza Sutton recited a string of numbers.
The tall man hurriedly typed the number into the phone. "What do we say after the call connects?"
"Just tell her you’ve succeeded and ask her to transfer the money. Start with twenty million."
The kidnapper’s jaw nearly dropped. "Twenty million? Are you insane?! I mean, they probably won’t pay that."
"How will you know if you don’t try?" Eliza Sutton said impatiently. "Hurry up."
As she spoke, she brandished the shovel in her hands again.
The kidnapper jumped in fright and immediately dialed the number.
Eliza Sutton instructed, "Record it." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Yes, yes, yes." The kidnapper nodded and bowed obsequiously. Soon, the call connected.
"Hello, who is this?"
It was quiet on the mountaintop, so quiet that the voice on the other end was perfectly clear.
So familiar.
It was Amelia Sutton’s voice.
Eliza Sutton wasn’t surprised in the slightest.
’The fact that I was once pregnant and had a child was a secret. The fact that Theo went missing three years ago was a secret within a secret. No outsider would know about it.’
’There was only one explanation: this kidnapping was arranged by the Sutton Family.’
The kidnapper carefully glanced up at Eliza Sutton, but she remained silent.
The person on the other end of the line was getting impatient. "Are you going to say something? If you don’t, I’m hanging up."
Eliza Sutton flicked her hand, tossing a piece of paper over and signaling for them to read from it.
The kidnapper was skeptical. ’Will this really work?’
He was about to say something but saw the impatience in Eliza Sutton’s eyes.
Startled, the kidnapper immediately began reading the contents of the paper aloud.
"You weren’t so high and mighty when you were begging me for a favor. Now that I’ve solved your problem for you, you’re treating me like I’m nothing?"
Amelia Sutton gasped, her voice panicked. "Wait!"
A burst of noise came through the line, and after a moment, the other end went quiet.
Amelia Sutton’s furious and flustered voice came through. "Who told you to call me?!"
