After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret-Chapter 194: Making Time for Business
It was over.
Hannah Grant gripped the railing beside her, her knuckles turning white from the force.
"He’ll never forgive me now..."
The image of Adrian Shaw’s disgusted expression filled Hannah Grant’s mind.
’No...’
’There might be a way to fix this. There has to be a way to make him believe me.’
Hannah Grant muttered to herself as she disappeared into the crowd.
Nina Jacobs saw Hannah Grant in the crowd as well.
After saying goodbye to Ian Chandler and the others, she planned to leave Treasure with Pascal Paige’s group for the time being.
After all, Vera Coleman was pregnant.
"Once we get to the new base in a few days, I can let him out in the yard. I’m sorry to trouble you for the next couple of days."
Nina Jacobs said.
But it was obvious that everyone in the group loved the golden retriever.
Holden Shaw couldn’t keep his hands off him, petting him affectionately.
"He’s so well-behaved. Did you rescue him, too?"
Sheila Rhodes asked, finally putting down her book when she saw Treasure.
"Of course! If Nina hadn’t brought him back, he would have been left on the island to fend for himself. Our Nina has the softest heart."
Sherry Renner added, praising her.
"Left to fend for himself, huh..."
"That really is a bit pitiful."
Sheila Rhodes stroked Treasure, her eyes veiled by an impenetrable mist.
Yvonne Willow also adored the golden retriever and wanted to pull some food out of her space to feed Treasure.
But Nina Jacobs had already had Wayne Warner bring over two boxes of dog food.
And a case of canned dog food.
"Have you all gotten your points cards?"
Nina Jacobs asked.
"We all got them. We were actually planning to go out and kill zombies today,"
Jessica Vance replied.
But since Nina Jacobs hadn’t returned, they had all been worried and decided to wait for her in the shelter.
"The number of zombies around the shelter is increasing day by day. The hordes in the city seem to be moving in this direction. I also heard that the Superpower User Alliance from City D will be merging into the new base in the coming days." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Chase Gallagher had managed to gather quite a bit of intel.
Some of this was news to Nina Jacobs.
"With so many people gathered here, it’s normal for zombies to be drawn to the area. I’ll make arrangements as soon as possible to get you all transferred over quickly."
Nina Jacobs planned to make a trip to the new base to check things out.
Hearing that Chase Gallagher and the others were planning to go kill zombies, Leo Hale and Sherry Renner wanted to join in.
"I’ll have Wayne Warner go with you. I’ll come find you after I’m done with my business."
Going to the new base was just a side trip; Nina Jacobs really wanted to take the opportunity to open up her shop.
With Wayne Warner accompanying them to kill zombies, she didn’t have to worry about their safety.
"Sheila, I’ll leave Treasure in your care."
Nina Jacobs glanced at the well-worn book of poetry.
’Maybe I should find a few more books for Sheila Rhodes,’ she thought.
"Mm, it’s no trouble at all. I get bored sitting around by myself anyway,"
Sheila Rhodes replied.
Nina Jacobs nodded, said goodbye to Vera Coleman, and then set off with the others.
"This is for you and Jessica."
Before leaving on her own, Nina Jacobs gave a Wind Vortex Dart to both Chase Gallagher and Jessica Vance.
The Wind Vortex Darts were Wind Attribute Weapons the system had gifted her after she killed Honey Summers and her group.
And both Chase Gallagher and Jessica Vance had Wind Element Superpowers.
"It’s so light and sharp!"
Jessica Vance exclaimed, holding it in her hand.
Chase Gallagher also treated it like a priceless treasure. He tried using his Wind Element Superpower to control the Wind Vortex Dart, and the result was a delightful surprise for both him and Jessica.
"Thank you,"
Chase Gallagher said.
"You’re welcome."
Nina Jacobs rolled up her car window and drove off in the direction of the new base.
...
Meanwhile, on a roadside with people occasionally passing by, Fern Spencer and her squad had already been waiting for a while.
"Looks like a lot of people got the message,"
Sharon Thorne said, looking at the crowd that had gathered.
Besides their Fern Squad, many other Superpower Users had also heard about the "convenience store" here.
That included Ethan Coleman and his group, who had bought supplies the day before yesterday.
"Coleman, you’re not pulling our leg, are you? Where’s this so-called convenience store?"
a young man with yellow hair asked.
They had waited all day yesterday, and another two hours had passed today.
But they hadn’t seen anyone selling supplies at all.
Let alone any convenience store.
If it weren’t for so many other people waiting, Keith Dempsey would have already left out of impatience.
"You young people are always in such a rush. She’s a genuine Space Superpower User. When she gets here, won’t the convenience store just pop out of her space?"
Ethan Coleman said placatingly.
After Claire Warner left, the sheet-metal shack was gone too.
But no one found it strange.
After all, it was just a small sheet-metal shack. It was perfectly normal for a Space Superpower User to store it in their space.
"Yeah, yeah, her space must be huge."
Just then, Fern Spencer was the first to head in a certain direction to greet someone.
She saw that Claire Warner was actually walking over by herself.
"You’re here. I want to be the first to buy supplies."
Fern Spencer said bluntly.
"Fine."
Nina Jacobs hadn’t expected so many people to be waiting here.
Besides those she had traded with the day before yesterday, there were many new faces.
"Miss Claire is here!"
Ethan Coleman squeezed his way over, wanting to make a good impression on Claire Warner.
"Go on, bring out your little convenience store. These are the brothers I brought with me."
Ethan Coleman said.
"Convenience store?"
Nina Jacobs understood immediately.
Ethan Coleman must have been talking about the safe house with the sheet-metal shack skin.
Still, she nodded and, mimicking a Space Superpower User, pretended to pull a sheet-metal shack out of thin air.
"See? I told you! Miss Claire’s space must be huge!"
Ethan Coleman said smugly.
"Same rules as before. One customer at a time. You don’t want others knowing how many supplies you’ve bought, do you?"
Nina Jacobs said.
"Absolutely, absolutely. Don’t you worry, miss. I’ll make sure everyone lines up properly."
Ethan Coleman turned around and shouted, "In order, everyone! Let’s keep it orderly..."
"That Ethan Coleman... He sure changes his tune fast,"
Sharon Thorne couldn’t help but remark after they closed the door to the sheet-metal shack.
"Alright, let’s take out all the Crystal Cores we brought today,"
Fern Spencer instructed.
She planned to exchange all their current Crystal Cores for supplies.
Aside from a few useful Mutated Crystal Cores they were keeping, they wouldn’t hold back a single one.
"And Beast Cores?"
Nina Jacobs noticed several Beast Cores, and they weren’t small.
It seemed the Fern Squad really did have some strength.
"You don’t take Beast Cores?"
Fern Spencer asked.
"I do."
Nina Jacobs was quite fond of Beast Cores, because their larger size made them more convenient for the Superpower Energy Stone to absorb.
"That’s good."
Fern Spencer watched with envy as Claire Warner continuously pulled all sorts of supplies out of her space.
Although the shelter also provided meals for purchase,
the supply was limited, and if you came back late, there would be nothing left.
And it was when they were out killing zombies that they needed supplies the most.
"Oh, by the way, do you still have that hemostatic spray from last time? I want to buy another bottle to have on hand. It works really well!"
Fern Spencer said.
Last time, Claire Warner had given her a bottle of the hemostatic spray. When a squad member was injured that night, she used it.
Unexpectedly, the squad member found her first thing the next morning with a joyful expression.
It turned out the wound had already stopped bleeding and was even showing faint signs of healing.
"I do. If you find it useful, feel free to spread the word for me."
Nina Jacobs took out another bottle of hemostatic spray.
