After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret-Chapter 107: The Only Way
A large hole had been torn in the rear right defensive wall of the shelter.
A massive zombified python was frantically attacking the shelter.
"We’ve concentrated all our firepower! But we can’t hit it!"
"Conventional bombs are having no effect!"
"Fighter jet attacks are ineffective!"
"Hold the line! Stop it from getting inside the shelter at all costs!"
"..."
When Nina Jacobs arrived, team members were still continuously firing cannons at the zombified python, which stood several meters tall.
But the zombified python was agile and ferocious. With a single sweep of its tail along the ground, more than a dozen nearby team members were sent to their deaths.
And that wasn’t to mention the countless zombies following in the zombified python’s wake.
"Damn it!"
Myra Lawson’s heart bled as she watched her people die.
With so many survivors still inside the shelter, they couldn’t use heavy ordnance.
The range was too close.
If they used weapons like bombs with high Attack Power, the entire shelter could be blown to smithereens.
But the attack had been too sudden. It was too late to evacuate.
"There are still so many zombies behind it,
if we don’t seal the breach quickly, I’m afraid... I’m afraid... Ugh!"
Daniel Hale hadn’t even had a chance to feel happy about his newly awakened Superpower before the shelter was breached.
Now, he could sense the danger surrounding the shelter.
And the radius of that danger was expanding.
"An evacuation is impossible now. All checkpoints are reporting that they’re being besieged by zombies."
Samson Thorne’s expression was grim.
At this point, their only option was to fight!
"Nina, you’re here."
Ian Chandler spotted Nina Jacobs and Wayne Warner being stopped at the entrance and quickly had the guard let them through.
This was the rooftop of the shelter, which also served as the best command post.
However, it was also relatively dangerous. To prevent civilians from coming up and interfering with command operations, the entrance was guarded.
Nina Jacobs wanted to persuade Daniel Hale to leave, but a sand table was currently set up in front of him.
He was using his Spiritual Element Superpower to run a sand table simulation of the area around the shelter.
’Even if I try to convince him, he definitely won’t go back with me.’
Leo Hale and Chelsea Walsh were also here, and Nina Jacobs even spotted Gabriel Leighton.
"This zombified python is too tough. Even cannonballs can’t do anything to it," Leo Hale said, incredibly anxious. Right now, only the members of the rescue teams were holding it back with their lives.
"Its scales are tough, and it feels no pain,
the only way to destroy it is from the inside,"
Nina Jacobs said from the side.
"From the inside? But there’s no way to get close to it,"
Chelsea Walsh said.
The zombified python thrashed its tail wildly and attacked with its head. It was so massive that even fighter jets were useless against it.
"Nina Jacobs, do you have any ideas?"
Myra Lawson was clutching at straws. Hearing the discussion nearby, she couldn’t help but walk over.
"Use Superpower Users,"
Nina Jacobs said.
At this point in time, their combat methods were still conventional.
Although the status of Superpower Users had risen significantly, they had yet to be deployed in large-scale, coordinated combat.
It was perfectly normal that no one had suggested it yet.
"Superpower Users?"
It was as if an old paradigm had been shattered. Myra Lawson understood at once.
"That’s right,
if we use Superpower Users to restrain it and then coordinate a heavy barrage on its weak point, it might work!"
"But the cost of trying something like that is too high."
Justin Lawson paced back and forth anxiously.
Deploying a large number of Superpower Users onto that dangerous battlefield below... the price was too steep.
"We don’t have to. We can start by gathering all the Thunder Element Superpower Users,
and have them attack from a distance,"
Nina Jacobs advised.
"Right! Thunder Element!
A single Thunder Element Superpower User might not be enough, but if we have a lot of them,
we might be able to paralyze it!"
Chelsea Walsh, listening from the side, immediately understood.
"Killing the zombified python is just like killing any other zombie!"
Chelsea Walsh said. "As long as we can restrict its movements, the attack will be effective."
Nina Jacobs nodded.
This was likely the method that would result in the fewest casualties at this stage.
"Thunder Element Superpower Users, you say?
Vaughn, come with me and assemble them now!"
Myra Lawson commanded.
"Miss Jacobs seems to know quite a lot. You’re more impressive than you look!"
An unexpected voice sounded from behind her.
Nina Jacobs turned around, her eyes filled with confusion. "Do you know me?"
Simon Abbott looked at Nina Jacobs for a moment before smiling and explaining,
"Who doesn’t know by now that Miss Jacobs defeated the top-ranked fighter?
I was in the crowd that day."
"Someone like him was worthy of being called the top-ranked fighter?
Don’t tell me you’re here to stick up for him, too."
Nina Jacobs asked with feigned amusement.
"Stick up for him?
Not at all. After all, your strength is plain for all to see, Miss Jacobs.
I’m merely curious."
Simon Abbott replied.
"Good that you know.
You can’t talk about ice with a summer insect, nor about the ocean with a frog in a well.
I don’t know what you’re questioning me about, nor do I have any interest in finding out.
I’m not about to explain myself just because some stranger is curious."
Nina Jacobs ignored Simon Abbott after that.
’In my past life, Simon Abbott was more of an observer. He always seemed to be sizing up the situation, and no one ever knew what he was thinking.’
’His relationship with Liam Grant, however, was always excellent.’
’The person those two—Liam Grant and the other one—mentioned who had been targeting me for a long time... he probably knew about it all along.’
Nina decided that after this was over, she would find Sherry Renner and get a piece of Talisman Paper. Perhaps Simon Abbott could be made to ’spit out’ some information.
’And if he can’t be made to talk, then I’ll just have to kill him.’
’After all, once that Talisman Paper is used, it leaves a memory in the target.’
’In other words, after Cole Dempsey woke up, he clearly remembered everything he had said...’
Myra Lawson was a woman of action. She quickly assembled more than a hundred Thunder Element Superpower Users.
Chelsea Walsh also volunteered to join them.
BOOM!
Myra Lawson shouldered a rocket launcher and fired, scoring a direct hit on the zombified python.
Seizing the opportunity, the team members below quickly followed orders and temporarily pulled back from the python’s front.
Seeing that they had successfully drawn the massive python’s attention, Myra Lawson quickly waved her hand and shouted,
"On my command! All Thunder Element Superpower Users, target its right eye!"
"Yes, ma’am!"
As the first bolt of blue lightning shot out, all the Thunder Element Superpower Users attacked the zombified python in unison!
ROAR!
The zombified python let out a heaven-shaking roar.
The Thunder Element Superpowers sent arcs of electricity crackling around its body, which did indeed have a paralyzing effect.
However, it quickly noticed the people on the rooftop.
After a violent struggle, it actually began to coil its way up the library wall!
"Damn it, it’s dangerous here!
Everyone, fall back!"
Myron Sinclair shouted.
"Protect my dad and Commander Thorne!
Ian, you fall back, too!"
Myra Lawson ordered Myron Sinclair, Chester Pearson, and the others.
"Yes, ma’am!"
Myron Sinclair gritted his teeth and immediately escorted Justin Lawson, Samson Thorne, and the others to a safe area.
"This was the most idiotic decision!"
Myron Sinclair couldn’t stop himself from saying to Chester Pearson and the others.
"You’re jumping to conclusions,"
Chester Pearson retorted.
"A suggestion like hers just exposes all of us to danger!
If anything happens to Myra, I’ll never forgive her!"
Myron Sinclair said loudly.
"Nina Jacobs, are you ready?"
Myra Lawson asked.
She hadn’t deployed the Thunder Element Superpower Users recklessly. Although Nina Jacobs’s plan was risky, she knew it might be their only option.
"Yes."
Nina Jacobs had already taken an attack stance.
"Watch out, it’s there!"
Daniel Hale clearly pointed out the spot where the zombified python would emerge.
At that same moment, Nina Jacobs was already charging in that direction, her blade drawn!
