After His Sweetheart Moved In, He Came Home Every Night-Chapter 131: His Savior Is Alice York
At that moment, the butler arrived with a doctor. "Quick, quick! Treat Young Young Master Hawthorne’s injury at once."
"Finn."
At the same time, a gentle female voice came from behind him.
Finn Hawthorne turned around and called out, "Sis, what are you doing out here?"
Jean Hawthorne came down the steps. "I could hear you from inside. What’s with all the commotion? Did you get into trouble again?"
"I really didn’t this time! Look at my hand." Finn Hawthorne, looking aggrieved, held out his blood-covered hand for Jean Hawthorne to see.
Seeing the hand drenched in blood, Jean Hawthorne’s face paled in shock. "Finn, what happened to your hand? Who did this?"
Finn Hawthorne turned to look at Alice York, who was being held by bodyguards not far away.
Jean Hawthorne followed his gaze and saw their family’s bodyguards restraining a woman. She immediately assumed that woman had injured Finn Hawthorne.
"Who is she?" Jean Hawthorne asked the butler, her face cold.
The butler said hurriedly, "Miss Hawthorne, her name is Alice York. She is a young lady of the Sterling family."
Jean Hawthorne said angrily, "How can one of the Sterlings have the surname York?"
Before the butler could explain, Finn Hawthorne chimed in from the side, "The Sterlings’ adopted daughter?"
The butler nodded quickly. "Yes, yes, the adopted daughter."
Jean Hawthorne’s tone was displeased. "Is this how the Sterlings treat their guests? Allowing an adopted daughter to harm my brother? Grandpa Sterling will have to give us an explanation for this."
Finn Hawthorne smirked, pressing his lips together.
Fearing the situation would escalate, the butler quickly clarified, "Miss Hawthorne, Miss Alice has nothing to do with Young Young Master Hawthorne’s injury. The wound was from a bite by that cat on the ground. Young Young Master Hawthorne has already taken his anger out on the cat and thrown it to its death."
Hearing this, Jean Hawthorne glanced at the cat on the ground and frowned in disgust.
She shifted her gaze back to Alice York. "Then what’s going on with her?"
Finn Hawthorne said faintly, "That woman was desperately protecting that little beast just now. I guess it was her pet."
Jean Hawthorne said angrily, "Then no matter how you look at it, she’s still responsible for Finn’s injury."
Alice York’s lips moved. "What more do you want?"
Her calm gaze fell upon the two siblings. ’Like two demons.’
The doctor was carefully treating Finn Hawthorne’s wound. Finn deliberately winced and hissed, "Sis, my hand hurts so much."
Jean Hawthorne’s eyes filled with pity as she reminded the doctor, "Be gentle." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Yes, of course." Sweat beaded on the doctor’s forehead.
Jean Hawthorne turned to face Alice York. "Since you’re one of the Sterlings, I won’t make things difficult for you. Just come over, kneel, and apologize to my brother."
’I won’t make things difficult for you.’
’Kneel and apologize.’
’What a contradiction.’ Alice York let out a soft laugh.
Jean Hawthorne’s face hardened. "What are you laughing at?"
Alice York enunciated each word clearly, "This is the Sterlings’ home."
"I know. But your surname isn’t Sterling." Jean Hawthorne tilted her chin up, her attitude incredibly arrogant. "And with that attitude of yours... I was going to wait for you to kneel and apologize willingly. But now, it looks like we’ll have to force you down."
The butler was so anxious he didn’t know how to intervene, so he rushed inside to inform Old Master Sterling and the Third Master.
"Force her to her knees! I won’t let this go until she kneels and apologizes," Jean Hawthorne shouted.
The two bodyguards exchanged a look, then each grabbed one of Alice York’s shoulders to force her down.
Alice York stood ramrod straight, refusing to kneel. Just as a bodyguard moved to kick the back of her knees, a deep, cold, and gloomy voice came from inside—
"You Hawthornes certainly are impressive."
The bodyguard quickly retracted his foot.
Jean Hawthorne and Finn Hawthorne turned around at the same time.
Alice York, who had been biting her lip, relaxed her jaw and looked up.
Wyatt Sterling descended the steps, and his frigid aura made the faces of both Hawthorne siblings pale.
Seeing it was Wyatt Sterling, Jean Hawthorne quickly recovered and called out, "Third Master Sterling," her eyes filled with adoration.
But Wyatt Sterling didn’t even spare her a glance. He walked straight toward Alice York, then raised his leg and delivered a vicious kick to one of the bodyguards.
The six-foot-tall bodyguard was sent sprawling from the force of the blow.
Seeing this, the other bodyguard immediately let go of Alice York.
Freed from their hold, Alice York stumbled. Just as she thought she was about to fall gracelessly to the ground, Wyatt Sterling reached out and steadied her.
"Third Uncle..."
A choked, aggrieved sound escaped her lips.
Wyatt Sterling’s brow furrowed, but he didn’t look at her. Instead, he faced the two siblings. "This is Silvanus, not your turf in Arden. If you’re going to run wild, at least pick the right place."
Jean Hawthorne took a step forward, her previous imperious expression replaced by a gentle one. "Third Master Sterling, what happened was..."
"I don’t care what happened. In my house, you don’t touch my people."
The malice in Wyatt Sterling’s eyes was palpable, and the chilling aura he exuded was terrifying.
A towering rage hid behind his deep-set eyes.
Had he come out a moment later, had Alice York been forced to her knees, he would have made every single person here pay the price.
Jean Hawthorne was frightened by Wyatt Sterling’s grim expression. Her lips trembled, and she didn’t dare say another word.
"What’s going on here?"
Old Master Sterling’s authoritative voice rang out.
At the sound, everyone turned to look at Old Master Sterling standing on the steps, and at the man beside him.
"Grandpa Sterling, Dad, this is what happened. Finn’s hand was bitten by a cat that woman was keeping. I asked her to apologize to Finn, but not only did she refuse, she was incredibly arrogant. She has no manners whatsoever."
As Jean Hawthorne spoke, she gestured for them to look at Finn Hawthorne’s hand.
Finn Hawthorne played along perfectly, knitting his brow. "It hurts..."
"See for yourselves." Jean Hawthorne pointed at Finn Hawthorne’s hand.
"Enough!"
Vincent Hawthorne rebuked sharply.
Jean Hawthorne flinched again. Before she could comprehend her father’s reaction, she saw him hurrying down the steps with an anxious look on his face.
Jean Hawthorne thought her father was coming to check on Finn’s injury, but to her surprise, her father didn’t even glance at Finn. Instead, he hurried toward the person opposite them.
"Dad, you..."
But what truly shocked Jean Hawthorne was yet to come.
Her father stopped in front of Alice York and asked her excitedly, "Do you remember me?"
Alice York slowly took a step back.
’Remember him? Of course, she remembered him.’
’The moment she saw his face, she understood why the Hawthornes had come today.’
The man asking if she remembered him was the very one she had happened to save that night in Washington, when she had gone to the club looking for Wyatt Sterling.
Later, she had learned from Wyatt Sterling that the man she had randomly saved was from the Hawthorne family of Arden.
She just never expected that the Hawthornes would actually come looking for her.
"You... you don’t remember me?" Seeing Alice York’s lack of reaction, Vincent Hawthorne asked again, a bit more urgently.
Wyatt Sterling inclined his head and reminded him coldly, "You’re scaring her."
Upon hearing this, Vincent Hawthorne immediately took a few steps back. "My apologies, my apologies. I got too excited."
As he spoke, Vincent Hawthorne’s gaze remained fixed on Alice York. "After I woke up, I had someone investigate the surveillance footage. Once I learned Miss York’s identity, I decided to leave the hospital and come to Silvanus myself to thank you for saving my life. Unfortunately, I was held up by some tedious matters after being discharged and was delayed until now. Miss York... do you truly not remember me?"
Alice York still showed no reaction.
It was Jean Hawthorne from behind who let out a sharp cry of disbelief. "Dad, she’s the one who saved your life?"
