Chapter 167: Four idiots

Nina’s hand paused midair, the spoon hovering just short of her lips. How... had this suddenly turned into her problem?

Rosen rested her chin lazily on one hand, eyes sparkling with interest as she watched the unfolding drama.

Oh my, she thought, amused. My little fish has fallen for Nina too... and he’s already making his move.

Lani’s gaze flickered with approval. Not bad. He knows exactly where to strike—right at his rivals’ weaknesses.

Taru glanced at Finch, alarm bells ringing.

This is bad... my boy has a past like that too.

Aron suddenly found the meat bun in his mouth utterly tasteless.

With a heavy sigh, he thought—This brat’s road to becoming a mate just got even longer...

Odian and Sal exchanged cold looks.

Hmph. That damned ex-fiancé.

Mino blinked.

How many ways can you cook durian again...?

Kith folded his arms, utterly calm.

For once, I can just watch from the sidelines.

Finch and Yanai quietly edged backward.

You can’t see me. I don’t exist.

Lex’s heart skipped in panic.

Idiot brother—don’t drag me down with you!

Ming’s eyes lit up instantly.

Oh ho! Now this is going to be entertaining.

"Nina, don’t listen to him," Aviel said quickly, his composure cracking as he hurried to explain. "I don’t have a fiancée anymore. I did before, but that arrangement was forced by my father. I already broke it off."

He looked at her almost desperately. "Really. Please believe me."

Nina let out a small cough.

Believe him? She believed him very much.

After all, she was the one who’d been dumped.

"Sister, you really shouldn’t trust a male like that," Dian added smoothly, casting Aviel a sidelong glance. "Who knows if he’s truly cut ties cleanly?"

His lips curled faintly.

"Males who break engagements are usually not good males. Sister, you absolutely mustn’t choose someone like that."

Several former ex-fiancés collectively clenched their teeth.

This damned fish... one day we’re going to stew him alive.

"Nina, I think Dian has a point."

"Yeah, I agree."

Sal and Odian immediately piled on, not even trying to hide their satisfaction. They had never liked those ex-fiancés.

Daring to break off an engagement with Nina—they deserved to stay single forever.

Mino patted his chest, still shaken.

Good thing I arrived in time that day...

Kith pressed his fingertips together, silent.

Yanai sighed inwardly.

Why do my charges keep stacking up...

Finch and Lex grew increasingly tense.

They don’t know about ours... right? They must not find out...

"Nina, don’t listen to them," Aviel insisted urgently. "Yes, I broke off an engagement—but it wasn’t my choice in the beginning. And that female had a terrible reputation. That’s why I ended it."

He turned quickly, grabbing at a lifeline.

"If you don’t believe me, ask Finch! He was engaged to the same female—and he broke it off too!"

Finch froze.

Then slowly turned his head, glaring at Aviel.

You damned dragon—why are you dragging me into this?!

"Nina, I... I did break off an engagement too," Finch said hurriedly, flustered. "But just like Aviel, it was arranged by our elders. I never liked that female at all."

"And that female—"

"Ahem." Kith coughed lightly, trying to stop him.

But Finch, too panicked to notice, continued, "And that female was truly a terrible person. Really."

Kith closed his eyes.

Brother... I can’t save you anymore.

Nina smiled faintly.

Oh really?

That "terrible female"... is standing right in front of you.

Odian and the others’ expressions darkened instantly.

They dared to speak of Nina like that?

"The Silver Moon City Lord’s son also broke off an engagement, didn’t he?" Lani added casually.

Yanai stiffened.

Damn it. Still got dragged in.

Aron let out a cold laugh. "Don’t act like your son didn’t do the same."

The Sea Blue City lord had been one of them too.

Come on—if we’re going down, we’re all going down together.

Lani didn’t even blink.

One for three? Worth it.

He still didn’t know Kith’s background.

Lex’s chest tightened.

Useless brother... he just nuked everyone at once.

"Nina, you know me—I never wanted to marry that vicious female," Yanai said quickly, panic creeping into his voice.

Nina’s smile didn’t reach her eyes.

Oh, I know.

I even know you wanted to kill your wife to advance your path.

Mino silently shook his head.

Brother... you’re beyond saving. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

"Nina, me too," Lex hurried to add. "No male would willingly choose a female like that. That’s why I—"

Smack!

The sharp sound of chopsticks hitting the table rang out.

Every male froze.

Their hearts dropped.

Aviel and the others turned pale, staring at Nina with unease.

"You four..." Nina took a slow breath, her voice calm—but heavy. "From today onward, you are not allowed to sit at the table."

She swept her gaze over them, cool and decisive. "Starting now, Didi will be taken care of by Mino. Linny and Momo will be looked after by Sal."

Then she stood, gathering the children into her arms.

Without another word, she turned and walked back into the house. The four males were left frozen in place, panic flooding their faces.

It’s over.

Nina is angry.

Odian and the others shot them cold, murderous looks—then quickly followed after her.

They had to comfort Nina first. They could deal with these idiots later.

Rosen abandoned her meal without hesitation and hurried after Nina.

Dian, his bright eyes now tinged with unease, chased after her as well—with Jiro close behind.

Taru and Aron exchanged helpless sighs. They had meant to help and somehow ended up digging a pit for their own sons instead.

A flicker of pain and guilt surged through Kith’s eyes.

Then, he let out a quiet, self-mocking laugh.

"Have any of you," he said slowly, voice edged with cold irony, "actually investigated the rumors about the Princess you were to marry? Have you ever met her? Spoken to her? Spent time with her? Has she ever done a single thing to harm you?"

His gaze swept across Aviel and the others, sharp as a blade.

"You’ve only ever relied on hearsay. Yet you call her a ’bad female,’ a ’vicious female’ without hesitation. Don’t you think that’s... beneath you?"

Silence fell.

Heavy.

Uncomfortable.

Kith’s lips curved in a faint, bitter smile.

"Rumors deceive. Sight reveals truth. If you haven’t seen it with your own eyes—haven’t lived it yourself—then don’t slander someone so casually."

"Kith... you..." Finch frowned, confused. Hadn’t Kith disliked that princess before too?

Why defend her now?

Still... what he said made sense.

The four males lowered their heads, their expressions darkening. A weight pressed down on their chests.

Taru and Aron exchanged another glance, something thoughtful flickering in their eyes.

Kith let out a quiet scoff, then turned and walked toward Nina’s room.

Inside, Nina had already returned, gathering the children onto the bed.

Odian stepped forward first, taking her hand gently. "Nina, don’t be upset. I’ll deal with them for you."

Sal took her other hand, his tone fierce. "Exactly. I’ll beat them until they can’t get up."

"Sister Nina... are you angry?" Dian stepped closer, a trace of guilt in his voice. "I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have stirred things up."

He hadn’t meant for her to get upset.

Nina looked at them, and just like that, the last of her irritation melted away.

She wasn’t truly that angry to begin with.

Just... annoyed.

She had even considered telling Aviel and the others the truth, but hearing them repeatedly call her a "bad female", killed the thought instantly.

"It’s fine," she said softly, a small smile returning. "I’m not really angry."

The tension in the room eased. Odian and the others let out quiet breaths of relief.

As long as she wasn’t unhappy, that was all that mattered.

But still, those idiots needed a proper lesson.

"Nina, lend me your Ghostvine," Odian said.

She glanced at him, then handed it over without question.

"Mino, stay here and keep Nina company." Odian leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. "We’ll be back soon."

Sal followed, brushing a light kiss against her cheek before heading out after him.

Kith, silent as ever, turned and went with them.

Their intentions were clear.

Those four idiots were about to have a very bad time.
